My preparation for my second grow is over and i have taken the plunge, Gelato has been a great favorite of mine but good quality is hard to come by.,Especially round my ways. So as such i decided to grow my own little stash for special occasions, and i am sure i can find another excuse to roll a fatty.
These have been soaking for a solid 16 hours and now have been transplanted in to a coco soil mix and will be left in a heated propagator to finish of. Fingers crossed!
Great start but unusually when one of the ladies shed her shell the shell decided to take both the starter leafs with it! I thought it was done for but a wish and a prayer later she is still going however i wonder if this early birth defect will effect the finish size and yield? only time will tell. Apart from that early disaster not a great deal of growth just a transplant into their new 1 ltr size pots for a few weeks.
My Green Ladies seem to be a little slow in making progress, Moved in to main tent, now receiving 18 hours of light a day. Still seem to be lagging behind its neighbors but still confident with this grow. Provided they root well this week and start to grow outwards i will be looking at transplanting these in to their finishing pots this week.
My Gelato's are now transferred in to thier finishing pots which should sustain these untill graduation day. I have mixed views on the Gelato at the moment, i believed it was quite resiliant although the 1 x Seedling that shed both its shell and leaves has had a really tough time keeping up with everyone else. It is holding on but only just! I have called this one JEREMY CORBYN i am not sure how well it will go but we will see.
My Green Gelatos have had a good Productive week all 3 growing identical at the moment . Good healthy growth with good coloring i have topped all 3 this week and will look to top again very soon. I am still expecting good things from these seeds. PH a little high at around 7, however i have some PH- arriving soon that should take care of this, Overall no complaints this week.
What can i say about the Green Gelato. Its been an incredibly easy grow thus far, All 3 x Seeds planted have performed well. They are all growing at roughly the same rate all recovered from their topping last week and expecting huge growth this week leading up to Flowering time. I am not sure when this will occur but i tend to have a good feeling when they are ready to flip. I have been watching other grows as the Green Gelato does seem quite popular and i am excited about the yield possibilities on the final product.
My Green Gelato is growing well however yet still to impress me with overall growth. #1 is an exception as it seems to be thriving however yet to see huge progress from the other 2. The smaller pot for #3 i believe is the overall cause for the almost ill looking plant. Hoping will pick up during the flowering phase.
Final week of Veg for my Gelato's these are still the ones i am most looking forward to, however not been the easiest to grow from seed i found these very time consuming and delicate. But 3 out of 3 so far and all made it to Flowering so looking confident and the final section. I also added some PH- to try and level out the PH as sitting mid 7s. This is something i didn't do before.
I am using a PH- from Dutch Pro. i haven't used a PH manipulator before and it has no usage guidelines on the bottle. I have used it approx 10ml to a Ltr mixing it in a separate container to where i add my nutes. Does this sound correct?
I compared with Dutchpro and Canna pH down. Dutchpro shows "Concentrated – 30% Phosphoric Acid". CANNA shows "Corrosive elements, 59% phosphoric acid" and recomends "Add pH adjuster in very small doses (5ml) to the nutrient tank, checking the value of the pH level until desired pH level is achieved (6.2)".

Using 10 ml / l is reasonable in my opinion. But, Please add 1ml/l (or less) and check pH, and do it again till pH reaches the good range of pH. After you know how much pH down is needed to decrease 0.1pH, adding more than 1ml/l. I did also adding pH down 5ml/l first and adding pH up to adjust the pH value. It increased also EC and made me mad😨.
At last i flipped the switch and made the decision to start Flowering these young ladies. As can be expected not a great deal of change during its first week. However they have all continued to grow strong and healthy swapped the positions of a couple of pots to allow as much light a possible to penetrate the canopy. Expect to start seeing small flowers in the latter part of next week.
No new pics this week as away on Hols. Will update on next entry. Everything went as well as can be, considering i was not around and everything was on autopilot!
My little Green Ladies are still plodding away after a week of neglect the weaker two #2/#3 suffered a fair bit of Heat stress which i am sure will affect the overall yield of these two warrior princesses. However we will persevere till the end. Anything will be better than nothing. #1 is however growing very well and suffered very little in my absence.
Another strong week from the Gelatos, Starting to put on some chunk, Overall it is continuing to grow as expected i have 3 x Gelatos growing on the batch and all 3 are in different sized pots as part of an experiment. 1 in a 20ltr pot , 12.5ltr pot and 1 in a 7.5ltr pot. I must say that they are all doing their very best to make a name for themselves especially the 7.5ltr pot i am very proud of this young lady. 😍
My Gelato experiment is going as planned experiencing good growth and weight gain this week. In this case no news is good news.
Will continue to monitor the different pot sizes and yield value at the end.
The 3 x Gelatos i have growing are all showing signs of a little stress. Which is quite understandable as they jostle for position in the light as they were all grown slightly different i fully expect them to grow and develop at different paces however now we are nearing the end game i would expect them to start gaining the weight.
Now entering in to its final week and again i think this will require 1 if not 2 additional weeks to achieve its full potential. Still waiting on the vast majority of pistils to change and get them trichomes a nice milky texture. I am expecting this final week to be quite a game changer in terms of growth and color but i wont hold me breath. 😲
Green Gelato now entering its final stages. From my early experiment i can safely say pot size matters! my 14ltr and 20ltr are much improved over the 7.5ltr pot. Now this is in no way to say that the smaller pot has failed because it has still produced some lovely buds if not as ready or as mature as the other 2 pots. Overall very chuffed with this strain so far it has proved most effective easy to grow and very hardy. A last week of flushing out and i think we will be ready to rock and roll.
The Green Gelato has been a great success although i have been using this time as a bit of experiment the results are clear. While i have two plants that are ready for harvest both are looking extremely tasty, the third one in the smallest pot although it has huge top colas i would say its at least another week if not two away from being ready to harvest. I am now flushing these through ready for a great smoke. Thank you to everyone who has liked this diary fingers crossed next post will be results and review. 😌
@Cannibalgardens, Yes looking to switch them all end of week 8 however The harvests will be separate as the Queens will take a week or 2 longer than say the Gelatos. I like to grow a variety of strains as i never know what mood i fancy.
@UncleIsko, Hi i start with Bio Bizz All Mix for the first 4 weeks, This gives the Plants 4 weeks of slow feeding nutes. After this i change to the Bio Bizz light mix which has no added nutes, i prefer to have more control over what they are receiving from here on out. The soil is always of top quality and i believe it makes a huge difference. What about yourself?
Looks great! 7ph in soil is fine but 6.8 is optimal lowest being 6.3. Dont forget to let it slide back up near 7 once its ph downed to absorb all the nutes
