PapaTerps Black Beretta - Cipher Genetics
SUMMER is upon us and grows that were started around March are a week or so away from harvest - so that means I'll have an empty tent pretty soon! So I've decided to start another grow for this Summer and into Autumn. 🙌
For this grow, I've selected Black Beretta by Cipher Genetics - I chose this strain for its strong genetics [(Bolo Runtz x Papaya) x Blackberry Octane] and its Berry and Tropical flavours! I will be vegging her for about 5 weeks and I will be using a mixture of growing techniques which I have used before, including topping with some low stress training. You're all more than welcome to follow along, I will try to detail my process without overloading each week with "Too Much Info"😅
Day 1 (16/06)
- Seed dropped into a small metal screw tin filled with RO Tap water pH'd to 6.3 and stored in a dark warm room - she will remain here until the seed pops and a taproot appears; I will check the progress of the seed every ~12 hours.
Day 2
- The seed has already popped and a taproot has appeared, so I've filled a small 0.3L paper starter pot with some All-Mix and dropped the seed in!
Day 3
- The seedling has already appeared from the soil, with her two starter leaves already searching for light. 🙌
Day 5
- She has a nice long stem and her first leaves have started to develop 🙌🏻

Day 9
🚿 Watered every three days with 1L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually and in order, finally I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I have upped some of her nutrients as she will need it during this phase 👌🏻
✂️ I've removed two of her top most fan leaves to improve light penetration to the lower nodes, this will encourage lower stem growth.
🌱 Week 2 of Veg, and shes working on stretching, strengthening her main stem as well as producing lower side stems 💪🏻

Day 17
🚿 Watered every three days with 1L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually and in order, finally I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I've upped her root nutrients to help with her root development and as of next week, I will replace the FishMix with the BioGrow 👍🏻
✂️ I've removed a couple of her fan leaves to improve airflow and light penetration, I've also topped her main stem to allow the lower stems to grow up and form a consistent canopy 💪🏻
🌱 Week 3 of Veg, she recovered from her first topping and has started to grow out her lower stems and supporting fan leaves! She has grown really well so far and looks to be bang on schedule for the 12/12 switch in about 4 weeks 🏻

Day 26
🚿 Watered every four days with 2L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually and in order, finally I ph'd the solution to 6.3. No alterations to her feeding.
✂️ This week I've lollipopped her to improve airflow and to encourage her to grow up, but other than that, she's just growing!
🌱 Week 4 of Veg, and she's been working on stretching and developing her stems! She's grown a lot in the last week, so I have high hopes for her! I've moved her into a 5x5 tent now along with all of the other plants in this grow, I will also be setting up a drip feed system from next week to streamline the feeding process 👌🏻

💡 PPFD: 540

🚿 Watered every four days with 3L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I've reduced her root nutrient as she no longer requires it and increased her CalMag because some of the plants were showing signs of magnesium deficiency. From next feeding, I will start to introduce her bloom nutrients.
✂️ I've given her a good defoliation and I've lollipopped her up to about the fourth node from the canopy. I've introduced a few training clips to help her grow more evenly. She's physically ready for the switch, but I think another week will help her big time! So from now on, I'll remove as much stresses as I can and just let her grow🏻
🌱 Week 5 of Veg, shes strong and sturdy and looks ready to hold any weight of flower! she's also showing all the signs that suggest she has reached maturity and looks robust enough to begin the 12/12 switch. Another week to go, but she's ready 🙌🏻

Week 1 of Bloom
🌸 She has reached maturity, has big strong stems, a nice even canopy with no signs of deficiencies or illnesses - so she is ready for the 12-12 switch. I gradually reduced her light schedule over the last five days of veg, until she hit the 12 hour schedule a couple of days ago, so today is her fourth day "in bloom", and she has filled out her canopy and has already started her stretch! It has been a couple of days since her last watering here, so she looks a bit weak, but don't worry, she had another feeding right after these pics were taken.
✂️ No work on her this week, I don't usually defoliate or train my girls during the first and second week of bloom because I want to reduce as much stress as possible.
🚿 Watered every three days this week, with 3L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I ph'd the solution to 6.3. I've switch out her veg nutrients now for bloom nutrients; these volumes will slowly be increased over the next couple of weeks depending on her needs.

Week 2 of Bloom
🌸 She has stretched really well and has started to develop her flower! She's a little bit shorter than the rest of the girls, so we might have to raise her up a bit in the future.
✂️ No work on her this week, I tend to leave my girls alone during the first and second week of bloom.
💧 Watered every three days this week, with 2L of RO water, with nutrients mixed individually, in order and then finally, I pH'd the solution to 6.3. I've increased her bloom nutrients again, and I will continue to do that over the next few weeks to keep up with her growth requirements 👍🏼

Week 3 of Bloom
🌸 She has completed her stretch and is developing her flower well, but while I was inspecting her, I noticed she had a couple of "pods" around her lower center budsites, where the least amount of light and airflow exists; clearly she has hermed a bit... we're only week 3 of bloom, so I'm hoping these were caused by low light stress and not by genetics, otherwise I'll have to dump this plant... I've cut away basically her entire lower section to remove any trace of nanners as well as any budsites that might have been pollinated - hopefully she will recover from this and no more herming occurs 🤞🏻
✂️ I've removed basically everything below the top three layers of nodes, to improve light penetration and airflow, but also to remove any sections that were close to the areas where the nanners appeared.
💧 Watered every three days with 3L of RO water - nutrients were mixed individually, in order and then finally pH'd to 6.3. I've increased her nutrients again to keep up with her demand.
