After a difficult start to the season—with early heat, a substrate behaving very differently from previous years and some unwanted garden visitors—she is finally showing a much more stable response. No fake hype and no overnight miracle: the change is visible in the active new growth, the developing lateral shoots and the way the canopy is beginning to occupy more space. 🌿 At around 98 cm, this Black Domina is not expressing herself as an extremely short or perfectly symmetrical bush. She still has a clearly dominant main leader, medium-to-long internodes in the upper section and several lateral branches developing at different heights. That is why I opened the structure with crossed bamboo supports. The goal was not to force her into an artificial shape, but to separate the branches, improve airflow and allow more sunlight to reach the inner shoots. The canopy is now more open, easier to inspect and better prepared for the next stage. 🎋☀️ The upper growth is still leading the race, but the lower and middle branches are no longer completely trapped beneath the fan leaves. Now I want to see whether those secondary shoots can close the distance before flowering begins. This is also my first season using BioBizz Light-Mix as the main substrate. Compared with previous years, the plants are smaller at this point of the season, but the soil is holding moisture for longer. They are not reaching that dramatic “full wilt mode” where every leaf drops from thirst. There is a real trade-off: less explosive growth so far, but more stable moisture inside the container. 💧 To reinforce the upper layer, I added Plagron Allmix and then applied an organic top-dressing made with 1,200 ml of worm humus and 200 ml of guano, at an approximate ratio of 6:1. The objective is to support the next stage gradually, not to force a guaranteed explosion. Now the plant gets the final vote. I will be watching the colour and speed of the new shoots, branch strength and the first clear signs of preflowering. ?🌱 Watering is applied progressively instead of pouring the entire volume at once. I begin with a smaller first pass to moisten the surface, allow the substrate to absorb it and then continue with the remaining water. This helps reduce rapid runoff when the upper layer becomes dry, although I still check the container during every watering. Visually, the foliage remains mostly green and functional. I do not see severe chlorosis, widespread necrosis, major wilting or an obvious active infestation in these photographs. A few leaves show very light pale speckling, so I am still inspecting the undersides and monitoring whether the marks progress. 🔍🍃 For now, this Black Domina looks stable, active and ready for the next checkpoint. The big question is no longer whether she has recovered from the difficult start. The question is what kind of structure she will build before flowering: will she continue stretching upward, or will those secondary branches begin stacking tighter and turn the middle of the plant into the real engine of the canopy? Después de un comienzo de temporada complicado —calor prematuro, un sustrato que se ha comportado de forma muy distinta a otros años y algunas visitas no invitadas— por fin está mostrando una respuesta bastante más estable. Aquí no hay milagros de una noche ni monster hype inventado: el cambio se aprecia en el crecimiento nuevo, en los brotes laterales activos y en una copa que empieza a ocupar mejor el espacio disponible. 🌿 Con unos 98 cm de altura, esta Black Domina no se está expresando como un arbusto extremadamente bajo ni perfectamente simétrico. Mantiene una guía principal claramente dominante, entrenudos medios o algo largos en la parte superior y varias ramas laterales desarrollándose a diferentes alturas. Precisamente por eso abrí su arquitectura mediante cañas cruzadas. La intención no era obligarla a adoptar una forma artificial, sino separar las ramas, mejorar la circulación del aire y permitir que más luz llegue a los brotes interiores. El dosel está ahora más abierto, resulta más fácil de revisar y queda mejor preparado para la siguiente etapa. 🎋☀️ La parte superior continúa liderando la carrera, pero las ramas medias y bajas ya no permanecen completamente encerradas bajo las hojas de abanico. Ahora quiero comprobar si esos brotes secundarios consiguen recortar distancias antes de que comience la floración. Este también es mi primer año utilizando BioBizz Light-Mix como sustrato principal. En comparación con otras temporadas, las plantas están más pequeñas a estas alturas del año, pero la mezcla conserva la humedad durante más tiempo. No están llegando a ese dramático “modo desmayo” en el que todas las hojas caen por falta de agua. Existe un intercambio bastante claro: menos crecimiento explosivo hasta ahora, pero una humedad más estable dentro del contenedor. 💧 Para reforzar la capa superior añadí Plagron Allmix y después apliqué un top-dressing orgánico preparado con 1.200 ml de humus de lombriz y 200 ml de guano, en una proporción aproximada de 6:1. La intención es acompañar progresivamente la siguiente etapa, no forzar una explosión garantizada. Ahora la planta tiene la última palabra. Vigilaré el color y la velocidad de los nuevos brotes, la resistencia de las ramas y la aparición de señales claras de prefloración. ?🌱 El riego se aplica de forma progresiva en lugar de descargar todo el volumen de una sola vez. Comienzo con una primera pasada más pequeña para humedecer la superficie, dejo que el sustrato la absorba y después continúo con el resto del agua. Esto ayuda a reducir el drenaje demasiado rápido cuando la capa superior está seca, aunque sigo comprobando el contenedor en cada riego. Visualmente, el follaje se mantiene mayoritariamente verde y funcional. No observo clorosis severa, necrosis extendida, marchitez importante ni una infestación activa evidente en estas fotografías. Algunas hojas presentan un punteado claro muy leve, por lo que sigo revisando el envés y observando si las marcas progresan. 🔍🍃 Por ahora, esta Black Domina se muestra estable, activa y preparada para el siguiente checkpoint. La gran pregunta ya no es si ha conseguido superar el comienzo complicado. La pregunta es qué arquitectura terminará construyendo antes de florar: ¿continuará estirándose hacia arriba o empezarán las ramas secundarias a compactar los nudos y convertir la zona media en el verdadero motor del dosel? ricar CALIFORNIA INDICA WEEK 11 | 41°C HEAT TEST, BURN MARKS & STILL PUSHING 🌞🍊🌿 | SENSI SEEDS GROW CUP 2026 What’s up, growmies! 🌱💚 This is the first full update dedicated to my California Indica by Sensi Seeds, currently in Week 11 of vegetation and competing in the Sensi Seeds Grow Cup 2026. 🏆🍊 She is growing outdoors in Zaragoza, Spain, where summer does not play around. A few days ago the temperature climbed to 41°C, and I did not make it home from work in time to move her into the shade. The terrace turned into a proper solar oven. ☀️🔥 The first visible leaf damage had already appeared when temperatures reached around 38°C. A few upper and middle leaves developed dry beige patches, small tears and burned-looking sections. The important part is that the damage remains localised. The rest of the plant is still green, upright and actively producing new growth. No general collapse, no major yellowing and no plant-wide burn pattern. She took the punch, marked the scorecard and kept growing. 🥊🌿 This California Indica is not the tallest girl on the terrace, but she is building a well-branched, manageable structure with several active tops. The central leader still has the advantage, while the side branches are spreading out through the bamboo frame. I have used canes and cross-supports to open the canopy, create space between the branches and prepare her for the weight and wind that may arrive later in the season. 🎋🛠️🌬️ Her shape is becoming one of the most interesting parts of this grow. She is showing a compact core, but enough lateral energy to create multiple future flowering sites. That fits the old-school character I wanted from California Indica: a manageable plant with Orange Bud heritage, an Afghan hash-plant backbone and the promise of citrus and warm hash notes later in the run. 🍊🌲 Of course, that flavour profile is the breeder’s reference—not a laboratory reading from this individual plant. For now, she simply smells like a healthy outdoor plant in late vegetation. The real orange-hash story still has to be earned during flower. 👃🌿 Because the Spanish heatwaves are hitting the terrace hard, the container is wrapped with white rubbish bags. It is not a luxury grow-room solution—it is real terrace survival engineering. The white outer layer reflects part of the solar radiation and helps reduce direct heating of the root zone compared with leaving the dark container fully exposed. 🗑️➡️🛡️☀️ The drainage remains open, and I keep checking the container because protecting the roots from heat is useless if the water cannot escape. The substrate situation is also part of this season’s experiment. This is my first year using BioBizz Light-Mix as the main medium. No panic spraying in this diary. 👀? Right now, California Indica is still standing strong after one of the hardest weather tests of the season. She has a few battle scars, but the new shoots are still climbing and the canopy is filling in. Hace unos días alcanzamos una máxima de 41 °C y no llegué a tiempo del trabajo para meterla en la sombra. La terraza se convirtió en un auténtico horno solar. ☀️🔥 Los primeros daños visibles en las hojas ya habían aparecido cuando las temperaturas llegaron aproximadamente a 38 °C. Varias hojas de las zonas superior y media desarrollaron manchas secas de color beige, pequeñas roturas y zonas con aspecto quemado. Lo importante es que el daño continúa siendo localizado. El resto de la planta sigue verde, erguido y produciendo crecimiento nuevo. No hay colapso general, amarilleamiento importante ni un patrón de quemadura extendido por toda la planta. Recibió el golpe, apuntó el resultado en el marcador y siguió creciendo. 🥊🌿 Esta California Indica no es la planta más alta de la terraza, pero está construyendo una estructura manejable, bien ramificada y con numerosas puntas activas. La guía central todavía conserva ventaja, mientras que las ramas laterales se van extendiendo dentro de la estructura de bambú. He utilizado cañas y travesaños para abrir la copa, separar las ramas y prepararla para el peso y el viento que podrían llegar más adelante. 🎋🛠️🌬️ Su arquitectura está convirtiéndose en una de las partes más interesantes del cultivo. Está mostrando un núcleo relativamente compacto, pero con suficiente energía lateral para formar numerosos futuros puntos de floración. Es el carácter old school que buscaba en California Indica: una planta manejable, con herencia Orange Bud, base de planta afgana de hachís y la promesa de notas cítricas y cálidas de hash más adelante. 🍊🌲 Naturalmente, ese perfil de sabor es la referencia comercial del breeder, no el resultado de un análisis de laboratorio de esta planta concreta. Por ahora huele simplemente a planta sana de exterior en vegetativo avanzado. La verdadera historia de naranja y hachís todavía tendrá que ganársela durante la floración. 👃🌿 Como las olas de calor españolas están golpeando muy fuerte la terraza, he forrado el contenedor con bolsas de basura blancas. No es una solución sofisticada de sala profesional: es ingeniería real de supervivencia en terraza. La capa blanca refleja parte de la radiación solar y ayuda a reducir el calentamiento directo de la zona radicular frente a dejar el recipiente oscuro completamente expuesto. 🗑️➡️🛡️☀️ El drenaje permanece abierto y sigo comprobando el contenedor, porque no sirve de nada proteger las raíces del calor si después el agua no puede salir. En estas fotografías no aparecen telarañas, colonias ni un patrón generalizado de alimentación. Algunas hojas dañadas también podrían haber sufrido rozamiento con las cañas, movimiento por el viento o la visita anterior de algún insecto. Por eso estoy vigilando la evolución en lugar de lanzar productos sobre la planta sin pruebas. Aquí no pulverizamos por pánico. 👀? Ahora mismo, California Indica continúa en pie después de una de las pruebas meteorológicas más duras de la temporada. Tiene algunas cicatrices de batalla, pero los brotes nuevos siguen avanzando y la copa continúa llenándose. La semana 11 no trata de mostrar perfección: trata de comprobar cómo responde una planta después de sufrir estrés REAL. 🌞🔥🌿 Y ahora llega la gran pregunta: ¿Se mantendrá compacta esta California Indica cuando comience la prefloración o despertará su 35 % sativa y se estirará más de lo esperado?
