📝 Notes
I actually wanted to start this diary much earlier, but I had some bad luck with germination, and the weather was extremely hot at the same time. RQS kindly sent me three new seeds, really appreciate it 🙏
I am really curious to see how Apollo F1 performs on my balcony. After growing Epsilon F1, I especially want to find out if this one can stay just as discreet in terms of smell. Since this run will probably finish quite late in the season, maybe around September, it will also be interesting to see how she handles the changing weather.
Apollo F1 sounds like a very exciting F1 hybrid to me. Royal Queen Seeds describes her as a uniform and stable autoflower with a complex aroma of pine, lemon, herbs, vanilla and a hint of lavender. That sounds very different from my blueberry focused Epsilon F1, so I am looking forward to comparing them.
I germinated the seed in moist paper towels. This method still works best for me and has given me the most consistent results so far. After two days, she was placed into a coco jiffy and then directly into her final pot.

The weather has been really beautiful, and this week felt very relaxed overall. Everything went smoothly, and there was not much to worry about.
She looks very healthy and strong right now. The conditions have been close to ideal, and she seems to be making the most of it.

Wow, she has grown beautifully and already has a really nice size. We are only in the second week, but she has developed so much already, which is honestly pretty impressive.
The conditions have continued to be very good, and for now it looks like they will stay that way. It may get a bit hot over the next few weeks, but so far she seems to be handling everything really well.
With my other plant, the training may not have worked out perfectly. Maybe it was just bad luck with the seed, it is hard to say. Because of that, I will not train this one in the same way. I will only rotate the pot so the shoots do not grow directly toward the back, and I will tie her upright to a stake so she does not lean too far forward.
She already had one neem oil treatment recently, and I will probably spray her again next week as a preventive measure.

Wow, she has grown incredibly fast. In only three weeks, she gained 22 cm, which is more than I have ever managed at this stage. My previous plants were definitely not weak in terms of size or yield, but this one is growing at an impressive pace. I am really curious to see if she will actually turn into a huge plant.
So far, she has only received a little grow fertilizer and otherwise just pH-adjusted water. I will use neem oil again now, as I have not applied it for a while.
This run also shows nicely how unnecessary training can be in my balcony setup. If the plant is rotated correctly and guided straight upward along a bamboo stake, she naturally grows in a very suitable shape on her own.

She is growing strongly and looks very healthy overall. Her development still feels really promising, and she is clearly making good use of the current conditions.
The leaves look a little dark green, so I will reduce the grow fertilizer a bit from now on. She does not seem to need much, and keeping the feeding lighter should fit her better at this stage.

She has made great progress this week. Her size and structure look really good, and flowering is now starting.
Next week looks quite rainy, but I will still place her in the sun whenever possible. Hopefully, the final weeks will bring some nicer weather again so she can make the most of this stage.

I had to harvest this plant early in flowering week 3 because the smell became too strong for my balcony setup. I mainly tested her because she is listed in the RQS low odor guide, but for me she was not truly low odor. Less than a normal strain, yes, but still not discreet enough to avoid bothering my neighbors.
The plant itself did nothing wrong. Growth was easy, she stayed healthy, needed fewer nutrients, and was quite low maintenance. She also builds a good amount of leaf mass, so some defoliation can make sense, even if it is not absolutely required.
So this is not a bad review of the plant itself. It just failed my personal stealth test.

You killed them because one plant smells so bad? In week 3? What kind of neighbors do you have? Screw the neighbors, check out my diary, my neighbors say nothing, or do you live somewhere it's not legal? Too bad.
@JaramnieJazz, no I live in Germany and yes I have respect and take my neighbors into consideration so they don’t have to endure that smell all day. You can smell the mature plants all down the street and of course very strongly on the neighboring balconies or through open windows. I find your attitude very strange. It’s completely legitimate to find that pungent smell disturbing and I honestly don’t think that’s exaggerated. Plus, I’m also glad when it doesn’t smell like that in my place all the time.
@DuschkabinenGrow, With one plant, the whole street doesn't smell when I'm standing on my balcony; I don't smell anything unless I interact with the plants. Your neighbors would only catch a whiff if the wind blows favorably, even on my balcony. Okay, when I come home, I don't smell anything at the front door, but once I go inside, the whole place stinks 😅 because the balcony is open all day. I didn't mean to attack you; I just find it strange to kill a small plant because my neighbors might feel disturbed.
@JaramnieJazz, no worries, I just think it's not okay to ignore the neighbors who have complained for good reason, and it would only risk a visit from the police. I don't consume at home, and I was at my neighbors' place back then, and it actually smells like that there.
In the diary "Small Balcony" or something, there's a screenshot of what my landlord wrote to me.
I don't need to wait for the wind or interact with the plants to smell it. Maybe you're lucky with your location or the plants, because even my small plants already smell really strong.
The activated carbon filter in the tent is just enough that I can only smell it in that room.
The way you describe it, that only applies to the strain Epsilon for me. It either doesn't smell at all, or it smells like lavender and just a bit like weed, and only right at the plant.
@GrowDiaries
dear grow diaries team.
I already tried to contact you using the contact form and I reported several comments but there is no reaction from your side.
I would like to have a feature to hide bot comments or copy paste and Ai comments in my own diary.
I would also appreciate you taking actions against those users, when it's without any reasonable doubt a spam comment.
I would also suggest putting these people into a shadow ban, so they don't realise they are banned and just start over.
I also do not need Ai answers when I ask a grow question. The benefit of asking here should be that a human with real experience answers.
Thank you really much
