VikRik Pics are from day 2, Fastbuds seem to be stretching, the auto Mazars in the centre of the tent look stout. Considering lowering lights or changing pot positions.

Is it safe to run oscillating fans after sprinkling diatomaceous earth on the top while in seedling stage ? The stuff is so fine and light I think it could fly and cover the babies. They act as microscopic razor blades for fungus gnats - could these blades harm the babies as well

Hey there VikRik, this stuff could easily poison you and your plants. First off, it's silica, breathe in too much of that over time and you get hospitalized . Second Diatomaceous Earth is at minimum pH > 7 that means that over time you could end up with ph problem - so just keep that in mind. Usually this kind of thing is used outside, I make a thick circle with it around some plants and it keeps things like slugs and afids away. For fungus gnats indoors it could work, but it comes with baggage. The easiest thing to do to protect against fungus gnats is simply to not over water. Fugus gnats need that long period of humidity to reproduce and hatch, so if you follow a strict wet dry cycle you'll be able to manage it. If you have access to beneficial bacterial, just add them to the watering. Doing that even if you get an outbreak it wont be so bad, you're looking for bacilus subtilis, bacilus thurengensis and bacilus thurengensis and Mycorrzhia. Hope this helps ! πŸš€

VikRik Pics from day 14 Had some stretching from week 1, so I lowered the lights down to 65cm and got some heat stress so raised again. Also noticed 1 or 2 fungus gnats at week 1,mixing (not just sprinkiling) in some diatomaceous earth seems to have worked. Think its time for a feed, so giving their first feed of a mild Kelpak and vermipure solution

VikRik Day 20, the stems have gotten pretty thick, bending them to LST is beginning to feel scary, so giving them gentle bends thru the day (yay for the weekend o/ )

VikRik The Green Crack being fed GHE did not like the change in ph from 6.3 (plain water) to 5.6 (nutes). Her first 2-3 sets of leaves at the bottom are showing signs of a ph swing and will likely have to go in the next week or two. Started to LST on day 22, I then snapped the main stem on a gorilla glue on day 23 ... and took a 2 day break from training ... Day 27 - added some microbes to the organic nuted plants. Day 28, the snap has developed a super crop knuckle, all is looking good, do have some shine on the leaves from spraying some neem - my 5l sprayer does not have a very fine atomizer - need to do something about that - maybe add soap to the mixture so it runs more evenly across the leaf surface, or buy another sprayer. Happy so far on the whole.

VikRik Day 35, end of week 5, pistol production seems slow, maybe I am MST'ing them πŸ˜… I have some bugs (f gnats?), but they are appearing at the bottom of the cloth pots after a feed instead of the soil surface, put out some more sticky cards. I accidentally (s)topped an Auto Mazar and think I had wind burn towards the end of the week so switched off the 20cm oscillating fans and switched on the upper the 40cm fan.

VikRik Day 42, end of week 6. The gals have really stretched (most of them) with highs as high as 70cm and lows at 50cm. Not gonna scrog this grow as its too uneven and am just let it grow πŸ˜„ The tent is getting really full and wpm could set with some leaf on leaf action currently present, hopefully not πŸ™

Should I defoliate these autos a little or leave it be?

Yes u can defoliate but do it over a week span. U don't want to strip them all at once. I strip 50% of what I want. Then 3 or 4 days later finish defoliate. And u only want to defoliate to expose bud sites. Plant still needs leaves to grow.

VikRik Aha, I found a pic from the missing week on this tent! I decided to remove some growth ... and got a banana so stopped. Potassium deficiency crept in late in the week, that only got sorted out towards the end of the next week. Alls kinda fine, I definitely am gonna grow better in the future for sure ✊

VikRik End of week 9, day 63 .. and I think 1 or 2 plants have another 4 more weeks to go judging by their buds. I am sorely tempted to remove stems and nodes from those plants in an attempt to increase prime bud primeness - its actually becoming a daily rattle / battle in in my head even ... but I dunno, so gonna leave it to grow (first attempt at removals gave me a banana, I didnt think I was being aggressive tho .. thankfully it was just one banana). Sorry no update last week, was on leave and didnt have a usb type c cable that could copy photos off my phone. Its been quite a dramatic 2 weeks dealing with issues (so disregard the nutes fed pls, Im not sure wtf I fed when). It was only after I saw the pattern more clearly on the second and third plant did it get fixed (I had potassium deficiency, and not gnats nor ph swing nor over nute). It took me a while as the first plant just didnt show the problem like the pics on some sites I visit, but yar, interested to see how this one pans out in the end, I am a tester after all 😊
