My first grow! After much research I've settled on an organic soil based method just to get my feet wet.
I'm using 3 genetics here. French Breakfast and Purple Piano Planet #5 from Cannaquire here in Canada (https://cannaquire.ca/) If you want some solid products for your organic grow, make sure to check them out! And a random White Widow Seed from Crop King.
// Week 1
Germination - Used Evian water due to it's technical analysis resulting in it being, in my opinion, the superior water choice for seed soaking. 😎 Used 2.5ml/gal (8 drops for 400ml) of Liquid Karma for soak. Set on a heating mat at 23C. All floated to the bottom 15 hours later, put in paper towel for 12 hours and had almost all of them sprout.
Day 1 - Split the experiment up into 2 different mediums to germinate; Soil and Rapid Rooters with plans to eventually re-pot into a soil mix. The reason for this is a friend had parasites that ate the seedlings when using the same seeds and I wanted to rule out the seeds; meaning the Black Gold germination soil was bad.
Day 2 - Held 88% humidity when the dome was on and 23C since I continue to use the heat mat. (The house A/C is doing a great job holding 22C in the summer heat). Lightly misted the top of the soil with soluble seaweed and water, keeping them from drying out.
Day 3 - Only using 2 of the 4 lights as they put off way too much heat this close and I felt I would burn the seedlings. Continued to lightly mist but with evian water now.
Day 4 - Seedling not poking through for both the French Breakfast and PPP#5. I forgot to mist this day.
Day 5 - Lots of stretch over night, notably F.B. #1. I move the lights closer, decrease heat mat temp and direct the fan differently to compensate. Last PPP#5 finally shows her face.
Day 6 - Everyone healthy, another misting to soak the top with evian water. I also start rotating the seedling the bend straight toward the light.
Day 7 - Transplanted to 1L Air Pots and only minimally water for some reason.
Things I learned this week: Germinating is way easier when you double up on the paper towel, weed grows as fast as weeds, transplanting slightly wet seedlings is scary and fragile!
