Strawberry Cola Sherbet

Blackbird_diary Seeded somewhere in may I guess, planted in the open ground in June and she took off like mad. If she had the space she could be bigger but in this short time I’m satisfied . The only feeding she got were some worm castings to start with and some DCM organic pellets for vegtables. She really stands out with 2m+ now and is just happy!

Blackbird_diary This week it rained quite a bit, unlike the dry months before. At this stage of flowering, it's not a disaster yet, but I'm hoping for a bit more sun in the upcoming month of September. The good news is that the soil is well soaked again and the plant looks very happy 😍

Blackbird_diary The weather was changeable this week, beautiful moments alternating with rain. The advantage is that I don't have to water and that we are only in week 3. What I do notice is that the flowers are really starting to change now and day by day you see them getting thicker. They are also already beautifully purple inside with a lovely red color from the outside. They are just doing fantastic 🤩

Blackbird_diary Week 4 is almost over and I'm happy with how everything is going. The flowers are developing nicely and are getting more purple. There's also a bit of resin starting to form in the flowers. The weather could be better, but it could also be a lot worse. We're halfway through flowering now, the crucial phase is coming up 🍀🙏🏼

Blackbird_diary I'm increasingly impressed by this strain. She's a sight to behold, the colors are beautiful, you can see them getting thicker every day, and while they won't be the biggest buds, they're already rock solid. Just 2 to 3 weeks to go after this week, hopefully she'll stay healthy and rot-free! The smell is subtle, a super sweet scent that sometimes reminds me of those little cola bottles. The aroma isn't overpowering and is anything but the typical weed smell so far. But that could change quickly once the resin production kicks into high gear…🍀💚🌸

Blackbird_diary Week 6 and I’m even more impressed with this strain. It's insane how well it’s doing. In my 25 years of growing, I've never encountered a strain like this, and I've had some gems. It looks like there's only 1, maybe 2 weeks left, and so far I've only found a tiny bit of rot that was probably caused by a worm. I’m holding my breath for the last days of her life because it’s been quite humid, but for now, she’s holding up very well against the rain and wind. The resin production is starting to increase significantly, the buds feel rock hard and sticky, and the colors are impossible to capture in a photo. Deep purple and red-pink flowers, just drool-worthy to look at. However, the scent remains very subtle and extremely discreet. A smell that doesn’t remind you of cannabis but has a very layered and sweet terpene profile when you rub the buds, with cola taking the forefront. A scent that currently doesn’t give anything away, and with 1 week to go according to Sweet, it should be fine. I had this strain indoors last year and it was very nice weed with a similar scent and structure, but it really shines under the sun in the ground. All praise to the breeders at Sweet Seeds for this strain for the uniform seeds and the most beautiful colors I've ever seen.

Blackbird_diary Spotted rotten spots for 2 days in a row, so the knife is going in quietly. Harvested part of it today, but another part can wait another day. She could have definitely used a few more days, but the risk seems too high at this stage. The days are nice, but in the mornings, humidity climbs to 98% at its peak... And with buds this hard, things can change really quickly. The smell is still not dominant, although there is a very heavy scent in the drying room due to the trimming. It's a sweet, heavy smell that doesn't remind you of weed, although during trimming? If I compare it to my Jack Herer from this summer, this smell is much subtler, sweeter, and more complex. In that one photo, you can see some buds that I trimmed further because they were close to the rotten parts, and I have to say I'm very satisfied with how this weed looks. You might question whether it's ripe enough to be harvested, but it's definitely much better than rotten weed.. 😁
