Unkraut_Vernichter WEEK 1: -20L pot DIY in white -2L clay pebbles for drainage -2 tablespoons of alfalfa powder mixed into 20L light mix -4 guerilla tabs placed in the pot -2L water + 10ml juice poured in -Humidifier running on minimum settings for 24 hours and needs to be refilled 1-2 times daily. -Daily lightly misted with a spray bottle. -LED set to 10% 70 ppfd for 24 hours -3 days after sowing, the seedling saw the LED light and shed its shell. -LED set to 30% 150 ppfd 18/6h -The next day (Day 4), the first leaf tips were clearly visible. -Day 6 is not watered and is a day for drying out; climate values are stable. -iConnect USB update for both setups. -Day 7 is not watered and is also a day for drying out, as the roots also need oxygen and it encourages the root system to seek water deeper. Domes are removed. The leaf color of the little one looks very vibrant.

Unkraut_Vernichter Day 8: the second leaf nodes are clearly visible. 50ml of water was poured around the stem. Day 9: not watered, a day of drying out. The light is set to 200 ppfd. Climate values stable and the sprout is nice and green. Day 10: 100ml of water was poured around the stem, additionally the soil surface was moistened with a spray bottle. Day 11: not watered, a day of drying out. The light is set to 250 ppfd. Climate values stable, temperature is slowly rising. Day 12: soil surface moistened, 150ml poured around the stem. The leaves are curling as they grow, waiting to see if that causes any issues. The two don't look very similar so far. The one on the left has a broader, shorter leaf shape, while the one on the right is longer and narrower. Day 13: not watered, drying out is on the agenda. The light is set to 300 ppfd at a distance of 42cm. Exhaust air is set to automatic mode with a VPD fluctuating between 1.0-1.2. Day 14: 200ml poured around the stem. Humidity increased due to rain in the environment. I'm curious if the exhaust air automation can handle it.

Unkraut_Vernichter Day 15: not watered, drying day. The exhaust automation is doing a good job so far. Day 16: Soil surface moistened, watered 250ml around the stem. Set to 400 ppfd, at a distance of 40cm. Day 17: New soil sensors are integrated. After they indicated that there was only 30% moisture left in the pot, I moistened the soil surface and generously watered 3x 250ml (750ml) around the stem. The result was about 50% soil moisture. Next, I need to find the point where the drain runs out; this point is the percentage top. I want to try not to go below 40% and see how the plants react to that. LED dimmed a bit again due to heat, but reduced the distance to the plant so that it’s still 400 ppfd, now at 33cm distance. Day 18: The soil sensors indicated dryness again today, which is why I watered again. This time until the drain ran, after 2L of water. I let the plants sit in the drain for 2 hours and removed the rest. The exhaust automation is starting to oversteer; let’s see if it gets back on track. Day 19: The temperature triggers the exhaust automation, which is why I reduced the LED distance to 30cm while still setting it to 400 ppfd. Temperature has stabilized. No watering needed today. Day 20: Too high humidity triggers the exhaust automation again. The size of the plants makes me curious to try if it can run without a humidifier now, and the exhaust automation will then regulate the climate. After 3 hours, I turned off the "automation," and a similar problem arose again. Now I’m checking the climate again :D Day 21: Increased LED to 500 ppfd. Climate more stable than with "automation," the VPD is at 1.2. The soil sensors report dryness, my finger says the same, so I watered again with 2L of water. This time, the water ran out on the left noticeably faster than on the right. The drain comes in at about 55-59% moisture; at 40% it didn’t look like drying out, so I’m going down to 30-35%. I’m curious about the further progress, but I will go back to 14L pots. So far, I’m not very impressed with the 20L DIY pots; I find it harder to find the right watering in the early phase. I also see the soil sensors as more useful in a smaller pot since they don’t really reach deep, more in the upper half. The two plants still don’t look very similar, also noticeable in their progress. Both have experienced the same luxury; the result will be exciting, and whether it will go the same way in the next round with 14L. To be continued...

Unkraut_Vernichter Tag 22: Soil sensor repositioned. It showed me 30%, but it was still wet around the plant. Now the sensor is sitting 5 cm next to the stem, and we're already over 50% humidity. Left the drain for 1 day and disposed of it today.
