Black Russian Delicious Seeds

The_Kitchen_Raccoon Hi guys, and welcome back ! 😎 For this run, we’re taking a closer look at Black Russian from Delicious Seeds, a cultivar I’ve been particularly curious to explore, especially given its genetics and the fact that I already have both Black Domina and White Russian mothers in the mother room. As the name suggests, Black Russian is a cross of Black Domina × White Russian. Delicious Seeds currently describes her as an 80% indica / 20% sativa hybrid. Their 2026 catalogue lists approximately 24% THC, a relatively short 50–55 day flowering window, and a terpene profile leaning towards sweet, fruity, lemon and earthy notes. What interests me most, however, is not simply the headline numbers. I’m curious to see how those genetics translate into the plant’s actual expression, particularly in terms of aroma complexity, resin production, structure and overall terpene character. For this run, I’ll be using Soma’s Sacred Living Soil, with the goal of keeping the nutritional approach as simple, biological and soil-driven as possible. Rather than relying on a conventional bottled nutrient programme, I’ll be working primarily with the living medium itself, supported by Biobizz Root Juice and occasional compost tea applications. Because Sacred Living Soil is a relatively rich medium, I don’t want to push the young plant too hard from the beginning. She’ll therefore have a gentler start in Biobizz Light·Mix for the first couple of weeks, allowing her to establish a healthy and well-developed root system before being introduced to the living soil. From that point onwards, the intention is to let the biology do the heavy lifting and allow the plant to develop with as little unnecessary interference as possible. This is the part of the run I’m most interested in. Black Russian brings together two cultivars with very distinctive reputations, so I’m keen to see which characteristics come through most strongly and whether the living-soil approach can encourage the kind of depth, layering and aromatic complexity that makes a truly memorable cultivar stand apart from one that simply tests well on paper. I’ll be paying particular attention to: - Plant structure and vigour - Root development and response to the living medium - Flower formation and density - Resin production - Terpene development throughout flowering - Aroma evolution from early flower through to maturity - And, ultimately, the quality and complexity of the finished flower For me, the real test isn’t just whether she can produce a strong harvest. It’s whether the combination of Black Domina × White Russian genetics and a biologically active soil environment can produce something genuinely interesting in the jar, something with character, depth and a terpene profile worth coming back to.
