The_Kitchen_Raccoon Hi guys and welcome to The Terpene Trials grow ! 😎 For this run, seven carefully selected cultivars will be grown in Soma’s Sacred Living Soil, with the first two weeks spent establishing themselves in Biobizz Light-Mix before being introduced to their living soil environment. The philosophy for this grow is simple: keep it clean, keep it natural, and let the soil do the work. From start to finish, the girls will receive nothing but water and compost tea, allowing the biology of the living soil to develop and express each cultivar as naturally as possible. The real focus of this run is terpene expression, cultivar character, resin production, and overall quality, observing how each genetic performs under the same conditions and letting their individual traits speak for themselves. All seven girls are now comfortably settled into their pots, so the journey officially begins. Seven cultivars. One living soil. One shared environment. Seven unique expressions. The_Kitchen_Raccoon Welcome to Week 2 of Veg for the Terpene Trials ! 🌱 Everything has been progressing nicely over the past week, although we unfortunately lost Zinnapple and Unknown Kush. Both will be replaced next week with clones selected from the mother room, so the trial will soon be back up to full strength. The remaining girls are looking happy, healthy, and vigorous, with most now transitioning out of the seedling stage and into active vegetative growth. VPD is currently sitting at 1.19 kPa, which I’m very happy with at this stage. The LED is running at 40% intensity , slightly higher than I would normally push this early in the cycle, but the plants are responding well with no signs of stress or excessive transpiration. Today, I also introduced Root Juice at 1 ml/L to support healthy root development as they establish themselves in their current containers. The girls will remain in these pots for another two weeks, allowing the root systems to develop before they’re transplanted into their final containers, filled with Soma’s Sacred Living Soil. The_Kitchen_Raccoon Welcome to Week 3 of the Terpene Trials ! 😎 The girls have really come into their own over the past week. Growth has been vigorous, with healthy, vibrant foliage and some very promising structure developing across the board. The LED is currently running at 50%, with VPD sitting comfortably around 1.05 kPa. The plants appear to be responding very well to the environment. I’ve also introduced Terra Aquatica Root Booster at 3 ml/L to support root development as they establish themselves. The next major step comes on Monday, when they’ll be transplanted into their final 15 L pots, filled with Soma’s Sacred Living Soil. From that point onward, the plan is deliberately simple: water only, with the occasional compost tea to support and maintain the living soil ecosystem. The goal is to let the biology do the work and allow the plants to express themselves naturally as they progress through the cycle. There’s already some beautiful structure showing, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how these genetics develop over the coming weeks. The_Kitchen_Raccoon Welcome to Week 4 of the Terpene Trials! ! 🌱 All six girls have now been successfully transplanted into their final 15L pots, filled with Soma’s Sacred Living Soil. From this point forward, the plan is to keep things as simple and biologically driven as possible: water only, with occasional compost tea when the plants and soil biology call for it. A root booster will also be used throughout the remaining vegetative stage to support continued root development and establishment. The past week has gone exactly to plan. All six cultivars are looking healthy, vigorous and well established, with strong early structure, good internodal development and plenty of new growth. At this stage, the differences in morphology and growth characteristics are already starting to become interesting. Current environment : • LED intensity: 50% • VPD: 1.05 kPa • Final pot size: 15L • Medium: Soma’s Sacred Living Soil The girls will now receive another three full weeks of vegetative growth before the transition to flowering. No LST, topping or other structural training will be used during this trial. The goal is to keep the plants as natural as possible and observe each cultivar’s intrinsic growth pattern, structure, vigour and genetic potential without training influencing the results. The_Kitchen_Raccoon Welcome to Week 5 of the Terpene Trials grow ! 😎 The girls have really hit their stride over the past week and are starting to bush out beautifully. The structure across these cultivars is looking very promising, with strong branching, healthy growth and plenty of vigour on display. They’re all looking happy, healthy and full of life. They’re still being fed Root Booster at 4 ml/L, and so far they appear to be settling in extremely well with the Living Soil. The plants are showing good overall balance and are responding nicely to the environment. 💡 LED: 80% 💨 VPD: 1.05 kPa I’m going to give them another two weeks of vegetative growth to really build out the structure and establish an even, vigorous canopy before flowering. It’s going to be interesting to see how these cultivars develop from here, especially once they transition into flower and those terpene profiles really start to express themselves. The girls are settling beautifully into the living soil, showing healthy growth, vibrant foliage and all the signs of a happy, thriving garden. 🌱 One small compromise this week: I had to top the plants, despite wanting to observe their natural structure and growth patterns. With an open tent setup and both lights scheduled to switch to flower in just under two weeks, canopy management is becoming a priority. Keeping their vertical growth in check now should help maintain a more even canopy and make the most of the available light throughout flowering. 💡 LED intensity: 80% 🌡️ VPD: 1.04 kPa The focus now is on maintaining a healthy, balanced environment while preparing the girls for the transition ahead. The_Kitchen_Raccoon Week 7 – Final Week of Veg | Terpene Trials 😎 Another week down, and everything has been progressing nicely in the grow room ! The girls are really starting to bush out, developing fuller structures and plenty of healthy growth. The Living Soil seems to be keeping most of the ladies happy, and overall, the garden is looking vibrant and full of life. The exception is Black Russian, which has been showing signs of nutrient uptake issues and has unexpectedly started flowering. I have a suspicion that an autoflower seed may have found its way into the packaging by mistake. 🤔 I’m keeping a close eye on her over the next few days before deciding whether she stays in the lineup or gets removed. Blue Zushi is showing a strong tendency towards vertical growth, so I’ve given her another topping to encourage a more lateral structure and a fuller canopy. For now, the girls are still receiving Root Booster, along with a light serving of compost tea to support microbial activity and keep the Living Soil ecosystem thriving. Everything is being kept steady as we approach the next stage. The plan is to flip the lights to 12/12 next Wednesday and officially kick off flowering ! The_Kitchen_Raccoon Terpene Trials – Week 8 Update 😎 Welcome to Week 8 of the Terpene Trials grow ! The girls were flipped to a 12/12 light cycle last Sunday, marking the transition into the flowering phase. I’ll be sharing dedicated flowering updates over the next few days, so stay tuned ! Overall, the past week has been smooth sailing. The plants are looking healthy, showing good vigour, and settling in nicely in their living soil environment. Black Russian showed some early signs of nutrient lockout, but the issue was quickly addressed and brought back under control. We’re now beginning to see the first signs of the stretch, and I’m looking forward to watching how each cultivar responds as we move deeper into flower.
