Reeflove Week 1 — Fast Start 🌱 G2 Kush came out of the gate quickly. The first seedling broke ground, and all three phenotypes were above ground within roughly 12 hours of the first emergence. The seedlings opened normally and moved into true-leaf development quickly. Once established, the humidity dome was removed and they were moved fully into the tent environment. Environment Temperature: 80–90°F Humidity: 80–90% PPFD: about 250 µmol/m²/s Light distance: about 20 inches Air movement: gentle circulation fan By the end of Week 1, all three seedlings were upright, green, and developing multiple sets of true leaves. Phenotype #1 was slightly ahead in overall development, while the others remained close behind. Week 1 Notes A very fast and uncomplicated first week. Emergence was nearly simultaneous, and early vegetative growth was vigorous with no significant issues documented. Key observation: these plants showed strong early vigor from the beginning. 😀

Reeflove Week started with the seedlings looking like they had simply been overwatered. After a couple of days without watering, the solo cups felt light and the plants began to droop. They were watered, but instead of recovering, the droop became more noticeable. To reduce stress, light intensity was lowered from roughly 300 PPFD to about 170 PPFD, humidity was reduced, and VPD was allowed to rise to around 0.9 kPa. The plants improved slightly, but they never fully bounced back and growth clearly stalled. That led to a closer look at the root zone. One plant was removed from its solo cup and the cause became obvious: the cup was packed with bright white, healthy roots. There was no visible rot, slime, or unhealthy root tissue. The plants had simply filled the solo cups much faster than expected and had become root restricted. Phenotypes #1 and #2 were transplanted into the 2×4 living-soil Tray2Grow planter and watered in with Rootwise Mycrobe Complete, Rootwise Enzyme Elixir, and Kiaha. Within about a day, both transplanted plants showed a clear turnaround with firmer leaf posture, more upright new growth, and stronger overall vigor. Environment PPFD during recovery: about 170 µmol/m²/s VPD: about 0.9 kPa Light intensity: reduced during the stall, then gradually increased again after recovery Week 2 Notes The biggest lesson this week was how aggressively G2 Kush roots. These plants became root bound in solo cups in less than a week above ground. The symptoms initially looked like a watering problem, but the real issue was rapid root restriction. Key observation: G2 Kush appears to need a very early transplant. On a future run, I would not leave these seedlings in solo cups for the usual amount of time.

Reeflove Week 2 — Recovery and Rapid Growth This week was all about recovery after the solo cup setback. After transplanting #1 and #2 into the 2×4 living soil Tray2Grow bed, both plants responded quickly. Leaf posture improved, new growth became more upright, and overall vigor returned within about a day. From there, growth accelerated noticeably. The plants began putting on much larger fan leaves, stronger lateral growth, and denser new growth at the tops. By the end of the week, they looked much more like established vegetative plants than recently stressed seedlings. Light intensity was brought back up gradually as the plants recovered. It had been reduced to level 1 during the stall, then increased to level 2 and eventually level 3 as growth resumed. Environment Temperature target: 80 to 90°F Humidity target: approximately 70 to 80% Light level: gradually increased back to level 3 Air movement: gentle circulation Week 2 Notes The transplant clearly marked the turning point. Once the roots had access to the larger living soil bed, both plants began growing aggressively again. The most noticeable change this week was how quickly they began filling out after recovery. Fan leaves became larger, side growth increased, and the tops started developing much faster. Key observation: G2 Kush appears to recover quickly once root restriction is removed and shows strong vegetative vigor once established in a larger root zone.

Reeflove This week was about settling into full vegetative growth and starting to manage the canopy more intentionally. After the earlier root-bound setback, #1 and #2 continued to accelerate in the 2×4 living-soil Tray2Grow bed. Both plants put on substantial size, with larger fan leaves, stronger side branching, and increasingly dense growth at the tops. The plants were drinking more heavily by this point, and the Ecowitt moisture reading was dropping faster than it had earlier in the grow. That was a clear sign the root systems were now well established in the bed. Light intensity was increased gradually, but some yellowing began to appear at the tips and along portions of the leaf margins, with mild tacoing in the newer growth. The fixture was raised significantly to reduce canopy intensity and give the plants a little more breathing room. The response appeared positive. Growth continued strongly, and the plants kept pushing upward and outward despite the earlier light-stress symptoms. Environment VPD target: approximately 0.8 kPa PPFD: held relatively conservatively, around 200 µmol/m²/s after the fixture was raised Temperature: around 80°F Humidity: around 70–80% Week 3 Notes The biggest change this week was how established the plants started to look. They were no longer recovering seedlings — they were becoming vigorous vegetative plants with enough growth to start thinking about canopy structure. The root zone was clearly active, water use increased, and the plants continued gaining size quickly. 😁
