Find yourself a wild plot of high gras/wheat and cut it down, roast it in the sun, chop it up with scissors and use
it to cover the top of your soil. It will decrease water evaporation. Also the tacoing, the folding of the leaves upward
is a sign of too much light/heat. Small plant -- small light. Find a spot that is half-shaded for now
and ease them into more full sun every week a little bit more when they do better.
Another thing I do is cover the pot (pieces of tree trunk, other plants) so it doesn't cook the roots.
