The seedling is progressing, the second seed I germinated is winning the battle, although the leaves are growing deformed, I hope it corrects itself as the grow advances. The first seed that germinated is stalled, only keeping the cotyledons visible; this issue is what I call: Blind Eye. So I'm going to continue with this second seed, but I will transplant it to a 3.5L pot, and this way maybe I can fit it into the grow tent as the seventh plant. The roots are coming out from the base, the small pots with elevated bottoms cause a great vertical expansion of the roots, guided by gravity and by the moisture I keep in the tray. I keep the plants under 24 hours of light, during the day the seedlings live behind a window, absorbing the unmatched color spectrum of the sun, when day gives way to night, I put the seedlings in the grow tent and light them with two LED panels, one with white light at 7700K and another blue at 450nm. The plant has overcome the asymmetry and deformities of the first leaves, and now the new leaves are growing evenly and beautifully. The second seed of this strain that germinated, even two days earlier, and has been frozen without producing sprouts, has just started showing the first leaves two days ago. I'm not going to discard it; I will grow it in a 3 or 5-liter pot to fit it into my grow tent, where I already have six plants. Five days ago, 15 days after germination, I transplanted it into the final pot. A classic 7-liter pot with lateral aeration and an elevated base. Until now, it was a seedling. From now on, the big game begins. The game of roots, space, soil, creating future perspectives. ••• 3M: THE OLD RECIPE: The substrate remains true to the philosophy of always: Organic Matter. Minerals. Microbiology. The three legs of the little monster. Nothing particularly sophisticated. A mix designed for the roots to find food, structure, minerals, and, above all, a living community to do business with. Because a good plant doesn't live solely on what I give it. It also lives off everything that happens below. And this season I want to pay even more attention to that. I’m going to experiment with new watering strategies aimed at promoting greater root expansion before entering the flowering stage. The idea is simple: to give the roots reasons to explore. To occupy. To search. To build a good underground architecture before the plant has to completely change strategy and dedicate its efforts to the flowers. The visible garden is beautiful. But the real show starts beneath the pot. 😁 THE LAW OF LEAST EFFORT I also took advantage of the transplant to solve one of those great problems of humanity that no one had dared to tackle. I’ve attached the risers I usually use to three pots, as raising the base has many advantages for me. This way, the risers will always stay centered, regardless of how much I move or turn the pot. A small improvement. A great victory for laziness. 🤣 Because if I can avoid repositioning the riser every time I move a pot... I’m not going to reposition it. This is advanced horticulture. Or maybe just common sense taken to its ultimate consequences. 😁 💡 PLANTS ALSO HAVE A SCHEDULE There have also been changes in the lighting. The cheap Chinese panels that have accompanied the little ones during these first days have been temporarily retired. In their place, I’ve installed a blue COB with a lens and activated one of my canopy lamps at 60%. But it’s not all going to be more light. I’ve also reduced the photoperiod by two hours. We are now at: 22/02 hours. Because these ladies need to sleep. Little by little, I will increase the light intensity and/or add more lamps while progressively reducing the hours of light. The goal will be to reach 20/04 hours during the vegetative phase, until the moment of definitively switching to the flowering schedule. There’s no rush. The garden has just begun. And this grower, as always, tries to convince everyone that I have a perfectly organized plan. I don’t have one. I have experience and I observe. I have some ideas. But at any moment, my plants can decide that all those ideas are completely irrelevant. So the big game begins. - Roots against gravity. - Plants against grower. - Genetics against expectations. deFharo Welcome, cannabis growers! 🖐️ 👨‍🌾 My Queen has been four weeks since germination, and two days ago I added a thick layer of mulch. She is making up for lost time. The pot establishment is guaranteed, vigorous roots are appearing from the elevated base. I'm waiting to do the apical cut; I want better definition above the fifth node. The second seed of this strain is still struggling to survive; I have faith in it, even though it doesn't look good. 🤨 A couple of days ago, I added a light to the canopy (COB 450nm + 50w), the plants are widening, and I don't want any shadows. Plus, with the help of the blue lights, I can achieve shorter internodes and wider leaves while the roots roam freely through the substrate looking for food. 😁 As I've been doing in the last two seasons during the vegetative growth stage, I don't apply any of my soluble Bio fertilizers in the watering; just Activated Mountain Microorganisms (MMA) with a bit of molasses to give them energy, so they propagate and work hard to make the nutrients and minerals present in the substrate assimilable for the plant. •••THE MULCH CEREMONY 🙏 After the second watering, when the substrate has dropped enough, one of the most important moments of the cycle arrives: the placement of the Sacred Mulch. It’s not just a layer of organic matter. It’s the result of seven years of cultivation: leaves, stems, roots, and plant remains from previous generations, along with the residues of the amendments that have passed through the soil. All of this has been decomposed, transformed, and colonized by a microbiology that has adapted over the years to the conditions of this small ecosystem. Today, a part of that memory returns to the four pots. The idea is simple: imitate the forest within a pot. In a forest, no one removes the leaves when they fall, no one cleans the branches, and no one fertilizes each tree from above. Organic matter falls, accumulates, transforms, and slowly returns to the soil. That’s the Sacred Mulch: closing the cycle. A layer of partially decomposed organic matter that protects the surface, retains moisture, progressively feeds the microbiology, and returns to the substrate part of what the plants themselves produced. The Bastard Queen is reclaiming her lineage, growing without brakes, and her enormous leaves stand out in the garden. I am tirelessly attentive to shaping the plant, regularly adjusting the ties on the branches. This strain tends to grow a lot in height, but this time I’m going to be very careful to try to rein her in... No mercy! I’ve lowered the light time to 20/04 H, and I’ve added a new 100 w lamp, so now I have a total of 350 w lighting from above. As the crops widen, I’ll be adding new lamps to cover more area. I control the temperature with plenty of internal ventilation; I have several adjustable fans that provide gentle breezes and air currents throughout the space. Water consumption is increasing; I do deep watering with spring water and acidic pH that I adjust with some of my Bio Fertilizers with Microorganisms. Very low EC load to avoid bothering the plant with excess soluble food... Let’s play! 😁 I’ve transplanted the little sister into a 4-liter pot; it seems she’s finally reacting.
