Dmars 9/20 2 seeds put in paper towel. Number 1 will be a 33% coco, 33% peat, 33% perlite mixture with all my normal additives. Number 2 will be a coco and perlite mix with the same additives, no peat. The additives are pelletized gypsum at ½ tsp per gallon and wollastonite at ½ tsp per gallon.
9/21 Both seeds have popped so I flushed both pots with seedling water until runoff EC matched input EC and put them in. Lights are set to 180 PPFD for now.
9/23 Both have popped up and look good. Tomorrow will be day 1 of veg.

Dmars 10/1 Day 8 of veg. Light increased to 220 PPFD / 14.26 DLI
10/2 Day 9 of veg. I just gave each pot a gallon of normal veg water. Input EC was 1.3, runoff EC measured 1.5, and pH was 6.0. After a few fungus gnats early on that I think flew in from the outside it’s been clear. I’ll leave the yellow sticky pads until the leaves get close to touching it.
10/7 Day 14 of veg. Both pots got another gallon of veg water. Input EC was 1.3, runoff was 1.7, and pH was 6.0. Obviously I need to start watering more to keep runoff EC in check so it might be time to fire up the hydro halos.

Dmars 10/13 Day 20 of veg. Looks like I may be overwatering a touch. I’m going to try switching to every other day for watering and see how that goes.

Dmars 10/15 Day 22 of veg. Number 2 on the right obviously isn’t looking as good as Number 1 on left. After considering that number 1 was the peat/coco/perlite mixture, it can be assumed it’s doing a better job masking a root zone issue. I think I’m stacking too much calcium overall which is reducing Mg availability. In the future I will remove the gypsum as an additive. For now, I’m adding in about ¼ tsp of Epsom salt to a 3 gallon batch of water and cutting off the calmag. That ought to reduce the calcium levels and supply more Mg.
10/18 Day 25 of veg. Both were topped today to leave 3 nodes.
10/19 Day 26 of veg. Light adjusted to 400 PPFD / 25.9 DLI
