Still hand watering every 3 days before they get transferred into the bloom room and put on auto watering system , I strive to keep my veg girls bug free and the sticky strips work great and are a quick indicator of insects and numbers.
It was moving day today !!! I could have left them on the table for another week but I wanted to get them on the feed system and adjusted to the 5 part salt mix. The room got a good cleaning and I added another portable A/C unit to keep it at 74 , The A/C units both drain into my res system and the water is a perfect ph 6 , I expect that a week on the new nutrients and 18 hrs and they should explode and then I will go to 12 hrs light .
Strong growth this week , going to give them one more week of veg and then put them into bloom , the Blue OG Kush really likes the 5 part salt feed , no leaf tip burn so I’m not too hot , most of the tops will be up to the Scrog height this week .
Great growth this week with almost all the plants touching the scrog net , I altered the photo period today and put them onto a bloom formula , next week will be LST training to fill the scrog canop. Weather is cooling off so I can start using the co2 burner again .
Week number one in bloom , lots of stretch and the scrog canopy is filling rapidly , switched over to bloom nutrient mix with a flavor enhancer that I use throughout the bloom cycle . The LST training takes 1/2 each day but is totally worth it when you get a scrog canopy covered in buds
Just at the end of week # 2 in bloom , LST training is going well and the canopy is pretty full , cooler outside temps allow me to use my co2 burner and they are all looking great with lots of bud sites and liking the nutrient balance, made new nuits today and it went from 1400 to 1150 in two feedings , one more week of stretch and then I will finish the under canopy cleanup and plan on a light defoliation at week 4 of bloom. The 8 Ball Kush is really showing great growth and it’s early on , should be some huge buds this crop , the Blue OG Kush is healthy , it’s my first time with it so I’m not sure what it grows like . Stay Tuned
End of week 3 in bloom , I’ve got most of the lollipoping done , canopy has filled in really well , lots of bud sites , I will remove some of the shade leaf out of the canopy in another week , stretch is done so just want to give the buds as much light as possible. I had a discussion with my grow shop rep and we discussed water times and schedules with the need for the rock wool to dry out so I dialed my feed schedule back from 6 feedings in 24 hrs to 3 , it’s been a week and the room looks great , final weight and time will tell me if feeding them less often is better.
Week #4 of bloom , girls are all looking good , going to remove some of the shade leaf this week to open up the canopy and get some more light to the smaller bud sites , I dialed my feed schedule back to 3 times per 24 hrs , I haven’t seen any negative reactions to the adjusted feeding and it’s been a week since I made the changes ,
Last week on nutrients , going on flush next sun , the 8 ball kush seems to be the happier strain with the 5 part salt nutrients , the blue OG is doing ok but the 8 ball is the chunkiest
I gave the 8 Ball Kush and the Blue OG a full 9 weeks in flower , we started the trim yesterday and will finish up today , now it’s cleanup time and get the room reloaded with 8 Ball Kush and Zombie Kush, I will update next weekend on final weight.
this is my second run with 8 ball Kush, last one had problems to to a extended power outage so the whole room suffered, this round it was more heat related problems but the 8 Ball took it in stride , no major pest problems and I kept the Humidity to below 50 % and there was no bud rot or powdery milldew. I plan on doing a complete run of this strain in the future, would not hesitate to recommend this strain to new growers, it seemed to like the 5 part salt nutrients better than the Blue OG Kush, the numbers and wattage wont be correct as the 8 ball was only 50 % of the room .
I think with another round or two to tweak growing this strain i could produce a lb a light using 600 watt hps, with a bit more LST training and CO2 Im hoping to improve my final weight
The strain didnt seem to like the 5 part salt nutrients as much as the 8 Ball Kush did, it was the same number of plants ( 1/2 the room ) it was more sensitive to PM and although the bud was nice looking it didnt have the density and final weight i was looking for
I think this strain could really rock with a different type of grow system and nutrients, Im old school and I dont want to change up much now, Some tasty product but not the final numbers I was looking for .
The 5 part salt system is Dry Nutrients bought in 50 lb sacks
its called 5 part because its made from 5 things
#1 Calcium Nitrate
#2 Potasium Sulphate
#3 Potasium Nitrate
#4 Magnesium Sulphate
#5 Trace elements
These raw nutrients are made up by weight into a grow or bloom solution. A 5 part salt system can only be used with hydoponics and cant be used for soil or coco grow mediums. It is a very cost efficient way to make quality nutrients.I can post the recipe if anyone is interested ?
@jollychap,
I consider it a seedling for the first two weeks and then go into Veg week #1 when the seed is showing roots outside the peat puck or 1 inch grodan cube at which point I transplant them into the 3 inch cubes and when they show good roots they go into the 1.5 gal pots with loose rockwool as the medium.
