Day 001, V01 - It's always a relief when the plants poke through. It's exciting to see a new start. I'm growing Seedsman's Pink Kush CBD 30:1 Auto. It's a high CBD strain I look forward to trying.
Day 002 ,V02 - Plants are in good shape. Beautiful color and vibrancy.
Day 08, S06 - All three plants have started to grow their second set of true leaves. They all have common traits - similar size, comparable growth, same demands for water, etc.
Day 15: The week is off to a healthy and vibrant start. I found caterpillars in my tent on some other plants. The bugs are dead, and the Pink Kush Auto remains undamaged (whew!).
Day 21: All three plants had a burst of growth this week. Very nice to see! The plants are fairly consistent in size, though BRAVO edges out her sisters by a half inch or so. Plants look vigorous and healthy, but ALPHA might have some nutrient burn happening.
Day 23:
* ALPHA - Defoliated fan leaves from nodes 4-6. Side branches appear strong and robust. Placed plant in a support cage to mitigate damage. The lower leaves are already at the edge of the pot. The cage will provide support for branches as the grow, and they can also be used for LST.
* BRAVO - Started LST. Bent at third node and staked multiple sections to even out canopy. Placed in cage to provide support and framework for continuing LST. Intent is to manage canopy height with cage and stakes.
* CHARLIE - Control plant. Water, nutrients, light...and natural grow (at least as natural as an LED can be in an indoor grow).
Day 27: Growth continues. Lessons learned at this point:
- Hold off on defoliation for another week or so to allow more side branch development; LST and defoliation are a pain in the ass.; patience is tough...It's hard to leave the control alone when I want to manipulate her with defoliation. Sigh.
Very pleased with the results. Yields were good, and I really like the aesthetic of the plant. Moreover, I'm very happy with how it works for me. This is a good CBD for me!
I grew three plants. One was a control (no manipulation), the second was LST (just keeping side branches out as far as possible, the third was LST (manipulating and fan leaf defoliation). The yield was slightly higher in the control, but all plants produced well and finished very closely in height. Going forward I would not overly concern myself with defoliation.
