Hawaiian Gold (Sonoma Seeds)

GrowingGrowingSkills My 2nd overall Autoflower grow. The first one is still in progress. Sprouted on June 22nd. I wanted to start another grow because I became aware of some organic cannabis soil sold by a local grow store. I am getting into making my own soil but this is a great shortcut for now that allows me to get going on an organic grow. The plan is to feed just regular water from the tap. It sits to evaporate chlorine for at least 24 hours before any watering. Going to just use a spray bottle to keep the soil moist for the first week and then get some sort of cover down. Either living cover crop or some straw. Only issue so far was the medium got a touch too dry overnight and it sprouted with the shell clinging on. The shell removed easily but the membrane was still on. I sprayed it with water, let it sit for a couple minutes, and then extremely gently I nudged it. The membrane fell off! If it doesn't come easily let it sit and absorb some more moisture. My first grow is in Promix using FoxFarm nutrients. Had issues with germination and then overfeeding. Not blaming the medium, but it is definitely tougher to dial in for Autoflowers than Photoperiod cannabis.

GrowingGrowingSkills First day of week 8. Might have had a bit too much wind on her, got a little crinkle in the leaves but otherwise looks really healthy. 2nd pair of true leaves are coming in, one started a little curled up, wind burn I think, but is now growing out more normally. Day 12: Everything going well still! Finished flower on our other grow, so I can get the humidity up to 55-60% which will definitely be better for vegetation. Trying to learn about Vapour Pressure Deficit and how to optimize it for Cannabis. It is not stretching as much between node 2 and 3 as it did between 1 and 2. Now about 85cm from the light.

GrowingGrowingSkills Start of week three from seed! Growth is really picking up now over the last few days. Node 3 is starting to come in and Node 4 is just starting as well. Reminder that this is an organic complete soil created by a local grow store. No nutrients to be added, aside from perhaps a top dressing or possible a compost tea, but we'll see. I've read that Autoflowers aren't really heavy feeders so the hope is to get away with no amendments during the grow, and just recharge the soil afterwards. For the first two weeks watering was done with a mist setting but on Day 14 I watered them a bit more heavily now that the plant is bigger. Close to 500 ml for the first bigger watering, and the plant seemed to like it overnight,

GrowingGrowingSkills Start of week 4! Not really much taller this week, but that is due to LST starting! There is a tie around the stem near the soil level which pulls in the opposite direction. This prevents the stem from getting dragged out of the middle of the pot.

GrowingGrowingSkills We have our first flower pistils starting! Expecting the plant to stretch up quite a lot in the next two weeks. Starting some LST of some of the branches soon. Trying to bend leaves away to keep the core middle area in as much light as possible. Update day 33: flower stretch is definitely in full swing. I was tempted to label this week as "flower" but I am not sure the protocol with Autoflowers. With photoperiods, as I understand it, flower time is supposed to be counted after the flower stretch is done or at least mostly finished, usually after 1 week of 12/12 lights. Next week will definitely be full flower mode and labeled as such!

GrowingGrowingSkills Flower is well and truly started now - not just some pistils on each bud. Still expecting quite a bit more stretch and growth before it starts filling out. Organic soil is keeping it nice and happy. Really uniform color so far the whole grow.
