The focus for the seedlings was to keep the humidity up in the domes and get the seedlings roots established in their pots. Watering only in the center where the plants roots are to avoid excess moisture in the soil. And watering only when the soil dries out. For now, watering has been plain and ph to 6.5

These plants seem to be doing very well. NL1 seems to be the strongest so far with NL2 not far behind. I did notice some discoloration in NL3's leaves. Curious to see why that is. Watering only when the soil dries out and doing so more often.

Plants are really starting to take off now. NL1 and NL2 have significant side branching and leaf growth. NL3 has the same leaf growth...but no side branching?! This is a first for me 😅, let's see how it goes. This is the time to start thinking about plants structure. Due to autoflowers not taking heavy stress so well, I decide on LST.

This week was the start of LST for the ladies. Tied down the leading cola to allow light and air penetration towards the center of the plant. The hope is to have more main bud sites, as oppose to leaving the plant to grow naturally with one main bud site. It was definitely disheartening when NL1 snapped its main cola (next time I'll be less aggressive with this technique 😅). It took a couple of days, but it does look like it's recovering. A bonus was that NL1s side branches came shooting up quickly. Looking foward to the next week and their progress. SIDE NOTE: These Northern Lights Autos are being vegged with 2 Gelato OG photo-periods. Those pictures will be posted in an upcoming journal.

Normally, I would be adding organic nutrients as a top dressing this week. However, being that this is the first time growing both of these strains. I wanted to push the limits of my soil mix and see what nutrients these plants have been needing more of during the vegetative phase. This will be accomplished by looking for deficencies in the leaves in the upcoming weeks, noting the deficiency, and top dressing with the proper nutrient ratio to correct any issues. If all goes well, the plants will recover quickly and I will know exactly when to top deess this strain during veg the next time around. For now, still watering with plain, dechlorinated water ph to 6.5 and letting the ladies bush out.

Finally top dressed with organic amendments this week, added molasses and Epsom salt to my water, and moved the ladies to the flowering tent. The only deficiency was nitrogen at this point (remember the Gelato OGs? Different story for those plants. Again, another journal lol). I should have taken pictures of it but missed the opportunity. The older leaves at the very bottom of the plant were yellowing out and starting to die off. For the amendments, I used my flowering ratio with top-dressing dry and watering in. I noticed a lot of side branching on both NL1 and NL2. More so with NL2 and I think that has to do with the stress of snapping NL1s main cola. Here on out, waterings will be with molasses and Epsom salt, with the weekly compost tea feeding. The ladies have started flowering and harvest is in sight! Excited to see the growth this coming week.

Ladies are cruisin 😁 Watering every 2-3 days with almost a gallon each plant. NL1s buds are coming along nicely. NL2 flowered a couple of days after NL1, but the buds don't look as dense. Would love to see the major differences when the plants are in full bloom.

I've noticed during this grow that often times the newer tops leaf-tips would grow twisted. Not sure at all what the cause is. Heat? Light intensity? Watering? Every question I have about this.

There are four main causes for deformed leaves. 1. Overwatering 2. Over Fertilization 3. High temperature 4. Cold temperatures Autoflowering varieties are sensitive to high doses of fertilisers. This is a trait that can cause problems for beginner growers. This would be my best guess in your situation. Your plants look great so I would keep doing what you're doing, keep temps in check and flush every so often. Good luck!

I came home to NL2 looking a little sad. The bottom fan leaves seem unaffected. However, the upper parts of the plants make it seem underwatered. NL1 is doing just fine. This is a first for me. Any thoughts on what can be the cause?

This can be either if 2 things over or under watering . Firstly check your growing medium if its dry then give her some water . If the medium is wet then it's over watering . You can get hygrometers at various places like wal mart , amazon , garden stores , home depot . This is a handy tool to have in these situations because the symptoms are expressed the same way with the droop . I hope thid information helps you on your journey ! Happy growing !!
