Gelato OG

S_Dubz This photo was taken June 10th after I transplanted from 5gals to 100 gals. Welcome to your new home ladies! You've got plenty of room to grow huuuge! 100gals and 11 foot greenhouse. I did have a delay as I had mixed up my super soil, (never done that before!) but it was way too hot to transplant into. I didn't know I had to wait to let it cool. I guess I should have started that in early spring; I just didn't have the funds till now. Oh well! I came up with a solution to pour my soil out on a tarp and mix twice/ day to help it cool down quickly and take twice/day temperature log. It seemed to have worked. My soil cooled down pretty quick and within two weeks, my soil temp was consistent, and I decided it was time.

S_Dubz June 17. Transplant last week went smooth, no delays that I could tell. I really let the soil dry out, hoping those roots would search for water and fill in their new pot size. Did some training of main branches, softly bending them down, but didn't do much but watch this week.

S_Dubz I am super excited to document this grow. Although I work with plants for a living and am an avid vegetable gardener, I am new to growing cannabis, and this is my first time attempting to grow a giant plant outdoors. My thought was to take advantage of the legal limit, as I live in a state with a small limit. This photo was taken July 9th. I have an 11 foot greenhouse and am growing Gelato OG from Seedsman. I just completed a custom drip line irrigation project which makes watering a breeze, at approx. one gallon/minute. All set for the hot weather to come!

S_Dubz Last week was installing support beams for scrog, more training and then a short vacation. July 27th: today I clogged the irrigation system with too much of the goodness in my compost tea! Opps! Working on completing more training, fimming and topping for likely the last time before flowering. Some inner canopy leaves are yellowing which maybe normal in huge plants? I up'ed the amount of nitrogen. Also today did some aggressive bending and accidentally split a main branch's Y shape down middle. Not the first time I've done that to this plant! I tied it up and am confident it will recover, most likely stronger than before. Also today bought higher mil filtration bags to better filter my tea next time through irrigation system. Also neemed. So much work!!

S_Dubz Aug 5: Pretty smooth and uneventful week here. Took a small vacation and then tucked the new growth back down into its screen when I returned. Just bracing for the flowering stretch ahead. My plants have about four feet to stretch upwards before they reach the top of the green house, but they are getting close to their capacity in width. Air flow and space seems super important to me, so I can get in there with a ladder to access my plants and still have some air flow. I have some signs of pre-flower on the back plant only that receives significantly less light but the front plants aren't showing any pre-flower signs yet. Upcoming projects include research about mold/botrytis prevention during flower (I live in Oregon and we hopefully will get rain this fall), including a topical application of ? (TBD) and getting some greenhouse fans or air flow going. Also security is an issue on my mind. I live in a legal state, but I also live in a city and I have heard plenty of stories of folks having their plants stolen. I may need to invest in a camera and definitely plan to sleep outside in a tent soon. Also, living in a city, I must come up with a plan to prevent light pollution from neighbors as the flowering starts. Don't necessarily want to hang tarps up everywhere but also don't think the green house can hold more weight. LOL

S_Dubz My OG Gelato from Seedsman started to show signs of pre-flower this week! Off to the races :)))!! Other notable events include settling on a IPM and mold management plan for flowering, trying but failing to get cheap fans off a flake-lister on craigslist, and deciding to switch nutrient lines from general organics> Roots org. Oh, and I also got some free wood to build a secondary screen, which I'm thinking will be needed post-stretch.

S_Dubz Everything is seemingly going pretty well. Over last two weeks, I built an extension on the support for a secondary screen. I topped dressed with Roots org. terp tea dry fertilizer and started bubbling with terp teas. Got a new product, Roots Org. HPK which I am looking forward to adding in tomorrow. And managed to figure out how to pull a tarp on/off greenhouse for a proper 12/12 without light pollution from neighbors and city lights. Last posting, I had wanted to defoliate a bit, but I ended up losing what seemed like alot of leaves that were yellowing in the inner canopy/ pretty much all over. So I didn't defoliate. Just removed the yellowing leaves. Slightly concerned. Losing almost 20 leaves a day. For two weeks now! May be normal for a huge plant but not sure. Also did more thinning on inside. Hoping this plant still has alot of stretch left in her. I've got several feet of space above left in greenhouse.

S_Dubz Everything is seemingly going smooth. This is a beautiful time of year! Hard to believe this was a freebie seed from Seedsman; Almost eight months later, I'm excited to now be on the homestretch. Hopin' to grow the big buds :))

S_Dubz Went on short vacay last week. This week got one fan up and running, got two more that I'm adjusting or installing. Weather has been cold and wet, and we're expecting a week of solid rain. Had a slight nutrient burn last week. Buds are starting to stack.

S_Dubz This OGgelato is a champ! Not the heaviest producer, but its been a real pleasure and was easy to grow. No matter what nutrients I throw at her, or aggressive pruning, she bounces right back. This week I found bud rot on one of my other plants in the greenhouse but this plant has so far been resistant and is healthy. I thinned the canopy and defoliated out quite a bit to create more air flow. I now have fans on 24/7 and sprayed with a mycorrizhal fungicide that suppresses botrytis. Also this week I have stopped pulling the tarp on and off each night (for total darkness) because it seemed to trap in too much humidity at night. The humidity outside has been 80-90% for over a week! And the rain was so heavy all last week. This week is slightly warmer with less rain so hoping we can make it. The trichomes are starting to get milky. I imagine I have 1-2 weeks left but am not sure. This has been a pleasurable experience for sure, but this is stressful right now! The smell is so strong you can smell it on my block. You can see *everything* from the alleyway adjacent to the greenhouse. I'm worried about mold and thiefs and can not wait for this to be dried and in jars!
