Day 28: I had good growth week, even though I did an aggressive defoliation. They were obviously stressed by it, but even by the end of the next day I could see a difference in their growth. Did a watering with supplements only last Saturday, and a full strength week 4 feeding on Wednesday.
Buds have been growing nicely, and the tallest tops are nice and even and lower ones light isnt being badly blocked. I’m still trying to lightly bend any clustered branches apart and thinking about a trellis net as a last resort if they get too heavy. I have tomato cage for next time.
Thanks,
Happy Growing 🌱
Does anybody have any tips to get these girls to chunk up? I’ve changed the bulb, recalibrated my ph pen, using a bud booster and still have some yellowing and color change in the fans already along with tip burn. I’d appreciate some advice.
Thanks
Keep in mind that the fattening of the buds happen at the very end of the flower stage, if memory serves me well, in the final week its where the buds gain half of their final weight. You are the end of the 7 week of flower; next week will see a dramatic increase of size of the buds. for future reference, somemore training to keep a flat canopy will help a lot in bud size and yield.
@Mrs_Larimar, what would you suggest for a sog? 3 gal pots with the same number of tops so they have the ability to get bigger??
Thank you for the response to my question.
@DankGardener,my next run has to be my mothers. They’re giant and in big pots taking up half my veg tent. I have 8 3 gal fabric pots that I’ll use after that.
Hey SAC87, I have been reviewing your journal through the flowering weeks. Your problem that led to the "Buds not Fattening" began between weeks 10 and 11 when your PPMs jumped to 1040 - It was too much, You unknowingly created an imbalance in your root zone that led to a partial nutrient lockout. Then you compounded the Issue with High daytime temperatures and Increasing the Wattage without much change in the Distance between Lamp and Plant.
Looking at the Photos, your plants began showing intervienal chlorosis and up curling of the serrated edge shortly after you made the changes to your Grow environment (Bulbs, pH pen). As the weeks progress after the initial insult to the plant, the Increased wattage and temperature began burning your leaves as demonstrated with the darkening color and crispy textures that soon became Yellow/Light brown. The damage to the leaves significantly impaired your plants energy production causing the flowers to stall out compared to previous gains. The appearance of Banana's as you have described further indicates excessive plant stress that is causing hermaphrodite'ing - At this point, I am sorry to say but You might have already lost the Battle.
@HydroHermit, thanks for the reply. I have had this happen a number of times and always in week 5-6 of flower. I started flower with 1/2 then 3/4 and to full strength feeding in week 5 of the feed chart. I am interested to see what happens with the LEDs, it will give me space to move my lights up and down. The 1000 hps is at the top of the tent and air cooled and appears to be too much. I have been wondering if it’s too much for while now.
I did an experiment where I moved a nice green plant under the hps side and it yellowed in 2-3 days.
You gave them a nice economical shape how many branches do you " let them"...? iam going with the 3 branches technic and iam alwys courious to see how others do it

@SAC87, Check my diary Atomic. In that run I grew only 2 colas per plant; you can do something similar, let the plant grow to 5 nodes, then top back to the 3d node and remove the 1st node sideshots, that will give you 4 tops of similar height
@@Athos, my goal was to just have 4-6 main colas per plant, but every time I attempt this, my lower branches stretch up giving an uneven canopy. I’ve done lst on the taller tops, but it doesn’t seem to help. Idk what to do about that. Planning another Scrog of some mother’s next round so some tips would be great. Thanks for responding to my question.
