Here we are at the start. This bucket is a test of using tap water instead of RO, it's been a few years and the township water report looks a little better at the new house. Will be trying to turn this one with collidoial silver for some pollen for now and later.
Should be a short grow with any flowers used in edibles.
I will just Ph the water on this grow adding base nutes as needed.
We just started week 2 and finally are seeing roots and tons of them. It is the first time I used jiffy pots and think I got it too wet to start, killed a gold leaf and maybe stunted a purple haze.
So far she is looking great, 2nd node is out, 3rd is working it's way. I will top once the 5th node is working it's way out and practice manifold on this plant I think.
Little Ph drift, added a few nutes as she was looking a little yellow.
Growth has been great the last week, still on pace with the RO plant next to it, but I little more yellow. I will add some more micro to this weeks feeding. She has been topped and all the lower nodes removed. I'll continue this treatment till we have our 8 nodes to bloom. Started this one thinking I would just chop it after harvesting some pollen but I think I might do something else now.
Looks like less than 20 hours after chopping the top and bottom of the plant she has already bounced back and ready for another day light. Bumped up the support nutes a good bit for this weeks food.
Well it has been a busy week in the grow room. Started the main-lining in week 3 and will finish it up here in week 4. Well it's actually only about the end of week 3 in these pictures. She just been split to 4. Looks like she will be ready for the next clip by the end of the day tomorrow. After that plan on a week of veg then flip to flowering in week 5.
She took about 2 days to bounce back from the root pruning and first chop, I should have staggered them a few more days i think, but the result so far looks really good to me.
Ph is stable at 6.2 needing only a few drops of down to keep there. After a little nute burn in actual week 2 I'm holding back food for a little.
For those that can do the math, unlike me, 8/19 is day 24 from seed. Seems I got off cycle early on in the grow and will just run this week long to get back to normal.
Update 8/21 she cracked the left side main just a little over night. I've removed the ties as I'm clipping her so fast I think that will help keep things even. 8/22 she got her final toppings before flowering, so she will get at least a whole week in veg over her RO sister. Even with the crack she growing great. I'm liking that she seems to be out pacing my RO plant, with nutes added to the water. It's going to be a long week but looking good.
Wow she is looking HAPPY. We now back on track week wise in the diary too.
If you look close you can see where I clipped a little too close on a couple of my toppings but overall she doesn't seem phased by my early trimming.
We switched the lights to 12/12 now and watch this grow up. Going to try and leave the strings off for now as she looks very nicely shaped. Also raised the lights 5" to try and get a little stretch before we get to full on flowering stretch.
Roots are looking good, climbing the container walls even.
This week we will start ramping up the bloom food while keeping gro and micro in the bucket as she has lots more growing to do.
Chopped off a few leaves on 9/8 to open up the center of the plant. I leave most of the outer fan leaves in place as weight to pull the arms out to get the most out of my space. Getting big now, first signs of flowers she is looking great. Pointed out where I hit one of the growth tips on the last topping I did it so early in the grow.
Looks really good, she started drinking water faster this week, I'm adding more or less 32 oz of weak feed water. Starting to have Ph issues in all the buckets. Might have to swap water sooner than final flush if it doesn't come back undercontrol.
No defoliation last week so we might do some of that here in week 6 as she continues to stretch out. I'll be keeping the lights around 12-16" from the top to try and keep the stretching down.
Keep watching and adjusting Ph into the 5.8-6.0 range and feed/water as needed this week is the plan.
9/10 update the middle if basically full now. Pretty much over night. She growing along great and really starting to smell a bit this week.
9/13 Its Friday the 13th and these plants look great. I've done 3 rounds of defoliation this week to keep the middle open. Light penetration is still good even with lights going bad on me. Only 6 months old and the caps on the blue leds are all turning black (started 3 months ago but now significantly worse). I will open the lights and break off the black caps this week. I would replace the chips but they are 3 led chips that run at 65-80volts not the normal 12v design and have proven hard to come by. Likely I will repair the lights as best possible and replace with a white grow light soon.
Ph still keeps drifting low, I'm correcting with armor si mostly as the drift is about right for the feed rate. Turning up the bloom this week as she is working at making flowers now as well as stretching out. Keeping lights about 18" from the canopy at the start of the day to keep from stalling her upward growth.
9/17 on 9/15 her light was replaced with a Mars hydro light. She seems to really like this new light. Did some light defoliation and found some white hairs. Should have some nice size flowers showing next week. Had to give her a bunch more micro today as she was getting too yellow. One great thing in hydro is the recovery time, an hour later and she is greener.
9/24. Real flower power growing this week. Around 15" of stretch and some nice flowers showing up. Very dense had to defoliate allot. Going to do a second pass later this week. Growing to bump flower nutes and keep the micro in the bucket for a few more weeks till the stretch stops.
Ph is still getting low. The jiffy pots have finally stopped feeling slimy on top. I think I will switch back to the rapid rooters on the next grow. I've killed 3 seeds in jiffy pots since using the ones in this grow. I'm even trying herbs like basil and chives in these and the seeds are germinating but never make it to the surface.
But this grow is good even with some Ph issues, keeping it up with Armor Si and around 3ml a week of Ph Up.
9/28. Wow last 4 days we have a ton of growth still. Now has started taking over the space for her sister.
Did a huge pruning of the really low growth. One round once those buds start falling due to weight.
Really like this mars light but I think I want more power to control the stretch here.
Heat has stopped being a huge issue, able to turn off the extra cooling. Ph is pretty stable now with a new bottle of Ph up.... maybe my 3 year old bottle thinned out at little.
@OutForReal, I like it a bunch too. Was a hit around the campfire a few months ago too. I plan on trying to clone this one and the purple haze next to her for some fun.
@BigDaddyK, should add on the 15gal purple haze I'm running a 8w 4port with 4 strips. I need to add something to help the roots branch out in that tank to make better use of the space as the roots like to clump.
@BigDaddyK, air flow is a 24" fan blowing around during the day and 24x7 carbon exhaust with temp controlled 6" ac infinity and a 4" ac infinity pushing cooler air into the room on a similar schedule. Bubbles are always flowing and after the first few roots on at a little lower than the highest setting on a 4w air pump into 10" air stones. I'll just plan better next time and have the rapid rooters I normally use on hand.
