-Seeds germinated in 24 hours in peat pellets and popped out of soil the next day
-Slowly raised light intensity to optimal level
-Peat pellets transplanted to solo cups on day 3 in Pro-Mix BX with a bit of added myco
-Growth was quick and I had waited too long to transplant from solo cups so a few deficiencies were starting to be noticeable.
-Transplanted to homemade super soil on day 14 which contains:
15 Gal Pro-Mix HP
2 1/4 cup Bokashi Pro-Gro
2 1/4 cup Gaia Green All Purpose
1 tbsp mycorrhizae per 2 1/2”
-Removed lower nodes and will top in a week or so
-Topped and started mainlines
-Had a bit of a slow start but they are picking up nicely and taking well to the supersoil
-OS#1’s growth is a lot quicker than #2 and is almost double the size
-Will be adding straw mulch to keep soil more moist as it is drying out too quick for a living soil
-Taking very well to topping and growth has picked up significantly.
-Added some straw mulch to help keep soil at an adequate moisture level.
-Started training and trying to maintain an even canopy
-Feeding only filtered water
- They both are seeming to love the supersoil mix of the pro-mix bx, bokashi pro-gro and gaia green all purpose
- #1 is still outperforming #2
- Happy with the canopy on #1 so I will start growing that one upwards.
- I will continue to grow #2 outwards for a while longer until it’s width is a bit larger
-Will transition to flower after at least 3 more weeks
-Veg going well and have still only been giving filtered water with a bit of calcium/magnesium
-Defoliating larger leaves every few days
-Will start with compost teas in a few weeks
-Growth staying consistent and plants are healthy
-Did a mass defoliation near the end of the week and they both bounced back like nothing happened
-Will be transitioning to flower in a max of two weeks once my flowering plants are finished in that space to move these to
-Still feeding only water with a bit of calcium/magnesium and will do a top dress of some organic bloom nutrients early on in flower
-Growth still going strong and plants are ready to move to flowering area
-Have sparingly removed larger leaves but before flowering I will remove most growth from the bottom half of both plants and defoliate larger leaves and ones blocking growth sites
-Will top dress with Gaia Green power bloom and feed Bokashi Pro Gro compost tea right before flowering as well
-Top dressed each plant with 4 tbsp of Gaia Green Power Bloom
-Removed all growth from the bottom half of the plant and defoliated the rest for better light penetration and airflow
-Fed Bokashi Pro Gro compost tea after top dress and defoliation
-Having a small issue with fungus gnats so I have placed some yellow sticky bug catchers near the soil and have already caught the majority of them. I figure if I can eradicate all the adults they won’t be able to lay any more eggs. Do not want to let my soil dry out to get rid of them but if that is the final stand that’s what I’ll have to do. As of now they are in check
-Growth going well, pistils forming nicely, and there is a nice stretch happening.
-Still having an issue with fungus gnats but some yellow sticky bug catchers are keeping them in check. Will most likely be adding some diatomaceous earth when I top dress again as an easier avoidance to them.
-Decided to let soil dry out until both plants were to the point of wilt to try to eradicate the fungus gnats. After watering and watching for a few days I so far have not seen one yet. So far so good
-Because I have definitely killed a lot of the microbes in the soil I will be brewing up a bokashi compost tea to feed to return some to it.
-Other than the fungus gnats issue and a tiny bit of the lowest leaves yellowing from the dry, both plants are looking healthy and flowering is going well
-About half way through next week I will do one last mass defoliation for some good airflow and light penetration
-Finally got rid of fungus gnat problem by doing an excessive dry to the point of wilt before watering again
-Brewing up a bokashi compost tea to renew some microbes and nutrients in the soil
-Growth of flowers going well and stretch looks to have halted
-Fed compost tea containing per gallon: 1/4 cup Bokashi Pro-Gro, 1/2 tsp Gaia Green Power Bloom, & 1/2 tbsp Blackstrap Molasses
-Still no signs of fungus gnats after doing the soil dry
-A bit of fade starting to happen and colour change from low night temps especially on Sherbert #1
-Will feed next week with a bit of blackstrap molasses and calmag and then water for the rest of their life
-Beautiful citrus smell is starting to come out and a few leaves colours are changing a bit to purple from low temps at night
-No sign of fungus gnats after 2 weeks. They were rid of by doing a long dry on my soil and then keeping my humidity pretty low. This caused a bit of yellowing on the plant but it bounced back and I have not seen one gnat since
-Fed both plants a bokashi compost tea again to renew some microbes and after this I will be watering with pure water with a touch of calcium/magnesium for the rest of their life
-Still lightly defoliating a few leaves blocking bud sites every few days or so
-Buds are ripening nicely and piling on the trichomes on Orange Sherbert pheno #1 especially.
-A beautiful citrus fruit peel smell is wafting from #1 and it seems #2 is a lot more of a skunkier smelling pheno.
-Some fungus gnats have returned after not seeing them for a few weeks but I am keeping them in check by some sticky strips again so far.
-Nice colours coming out from low temps and fading as I feed only water with a touch of calcium/magnesium until harvest.
-Lightly defoliating larger leaves every day or so still
-Keeping temps in the low 70’s and humidity in the low 40’s
The dominant taste in the first pheno is a pungent citrus with almost a sweet cheese aftertaste. It’s smell is like an orange peel with hints of ginger. The second pheno has more of a herb-ish taste which is less citrusy, but it does also carry that backbone of a sweet cheese. It’s smell is a lot more cheesier too, and doesn’t smell too citrus or ginger like as the other pheno does.
Both of them have a fantastic calming effect with a great body relaxation that warms your chest. It is a little mind numbing when too much is consumed but works great for anxiety, body aches, hunger issues, and insomnia.
-Dried full plants at a temp of around 66-68F and a humidity of 40-43RH for a week
-These were grown in a homemade supersoil mix of Pro-Mix BX, Bokashi Pro Gro, and Gaia Green all purpose. Cooked for two weeks at the beginning it had a nice little blanket of mycelium before I mixed it up and used it, then a week into flower I top dressed with Gaia Green power bloom.
-Really happy with how they grew in veg, big beautiful and healthy the whole way. All I added was water with a touch of calcium/magnesium and only had to give it to them about once a week because of the water holding capabilities of the Pro-Mix BX and the straw I added on top.
-In flower I had a bit of a problem with fungus gnats and kept them at bay with yellow sticky strips until their population became a bit much. I dried out the pots to the point of plant wilt and they finally disappeared but this caused some problems with leaf yellowing and they took a while to recover. I believe next time I will use clay pellets as that seems to be the better option from the start instead of straw as per a tip I received.
-Overall took well to mainlining and topping and didn’t seem to mind constant defoliation. A joy to grow, and smell! Late in flower both plants were wafting with a beautiful citrus scent, while #1 also carried a strong fragrance of ginger. This one also produced a lot more trichomes than the other.
@Ferenc, Thank you! 🙏 🙌 Gaia green AP and bokashi pro-gro in some pro-mix bx for them and it’s probably one my healthiest grows ever. Really happy with the outcome so far
@WillyWonka, Probably about 2 months total give or take a few days. I have a perpetual harvest going so I usually go as long as whatever in my flowering tent finishes before I move it.
