I love this indica. This is my third grow of 8 ball and this time they’re going under a scrog net. The scrog was a game changer for me. It definitely gets the best out of cheap blurples. Thats another reason I’m returning to this strain I enjoyed so much.
Germination took around 48hrs in jiffy pots and a humidity dome. On day 3 they were transplanted into half litre pots. It’s early days but things are looking good.
They’ve been growing steadily this week. That’s was until I under watered them midweek. Both plants dropped a little and one started to draw moisture from the lower leaves. I watered them, left them for a day, then potted into 3 litre pots and today they look happy again. Such a stupid mistake to make but luckily no real damage done.
Topped them both on day 20 and now they’re recovering for a couple of days before I start the LST. The two tops have gone into a pot and in a propagation dome. If they root, one will become a mother. 8 ball is a favourite so is would be nice to have clones handy. Peace.
Both plants have grown two nodes since they were topped, so they’re ready to be topped again. That will be the last one. The rest of veg will be spent keeping the shape with LST and defoliation. Once they’re around 8” it’s time for the SCROG.
plant 1 is showing signs of mag deficiency. I’ve ordered some Epsom salts, hopefully this will sort the problem. Plant 2 is still slightly smaller but it’s growing well so apart from the mag def all looks good.
Plant 1 has recovered after the mag def. I’ve sprayed three times now with Epsom salts dissolved in water and removed the affected leaves. All the new growth looks a healthy green so I hope that’s solved it.
One thing I’ve noticed this grow is that deficiencies look ten times worse under blurple LED. Under natural light it’s nowhere near as bad. Just thought I’d share that for any other new growers who are using blurples. Peace.
I’ve left them alone this week. No LST or defoliation and they’re the right height for the scrog now. Tomorrow they’re going into 4 gallon fabric pots and then under the net.
Plants are in there final pots now. I left them in the smaller pots too long and they were starting to get root bound. I teased out a few of the roots and planted into 15 Ltr pots, adding root powder into the hole first. I gave them a couple of days to settle, then put the scrog over. As this strain doesn’t stretch much I’ll fill the net more or less fully before I switch to flower. Happy growing.
I switched them to 12/12 four days ago so I’ve let them do their thing for most of the week. Today they were defoliated and any suckers with no chance of making the net were removed. The canopy was getting dense and humid with the large fan leaves the 8 ball produces. I’ll do this again at the end of the 3rd week flowering.
All the training has finished now. This strain doesn’t stretch much at all so I’m letting them come up and gain some height. Any LST done from now on will be to keep things in check. Happy growing.
The pre flower stretch is coming to an end so it’s time to remove the suckers and some of the fans. The humidity has shot up with the dense canopy, removing some fans should help improve the airflow and lower the RH.
Any suckers that haven’t made it through the net will go as well.
Peace.
The plants are coming along nicely. The buds have started to form now and crystals are beginning to coat the leaves. So Ive upped the bloom nutrients this week and dropped the nitrogen now the stretch has finished. All the trainings done it’s time to concentrate on giving them what they need for the next four weeks and hopefully harvest some good bud.
Happy growing.
Not a lot to report this week. The buds are growing well and the plants look healthy. They look bigger and better than my other 8 ball kush grows. I’m looking forward to the results.
