Average conditions continue with quite cool nights. Should probably do more to keep temps up but it's kinda in the too hard basket. Temps should improve the next few weeks.
Spring is sucking here. Currently sticking with 24/24 light schedule to try keep temps up a bit. She's doin ok though. Gonna start with 1/2 recommended canna veg nutes this week and maybe start some LST but we'll see.
Started some LST this week. I let my first girl just do what she liked so am new to training. Wingin it at the mo so not sure what she's gonna look like. Started some 1/2 recommended veg nutes too. Only have the basic at the mo but am open to peeps suggestions for essential additives.
So we're a couple weeks into flower now. I finally got my hands on a ph meter. Our water has a ph of 7.8 but with nutrients comes down to high 6s. Runoff ph was 6.3ish. I'll keep an eye on it the next few feeds and see what happens. Had a couple weekends where I've been away and girl has dried out a bit between waterings but she's held up under the stress ok. LST has been reasonably successful for both my girls. Will see how yield compares to prev grow. Have just got my hands on some bud burst which I've started adding today.
Girl looking good. I should be doing some further training to increase light to the lower buds but i have nothing to anchor things to without a bit of a hassle. Smell is increasing, fruity awesomeness.

Wish i had more space and means of training as she's quite leafy and the lower bud sites are getting crowded out a bit. She was showing maybe a touch of nute burn so I'm monitoring that and backing the nutes off slightly.
So i thought i had a touch of nute burn so eased up slightly going from maybe 2/3rds recommended to half this week. But now a number of the leaves are yellowing slightly along the edges of the fan leaves. Lower leaves not yellowing much at all. Nute deficiency or what i don't know. Will ask the community once i work up the courage.
Girl is lookin a little glum. Maybe some light stress plus or minus some nutrient deficiency.. I've increased the height of the lights and I'll see what happens. Her pistils have started to amber up a bit but still has a fair ways to go. Her short sister is powering toward the finish which is great as i don't fancy trimming two plants without a decent rest in between. Smells just wonderful.
Still a ways to go for this lass but she's lookin nice and frosty. Wish I'd had more opportunity (and inclination) to train as she's quite leafy and the lower bud sites are getting crowded out a bit. She'll have the tent to herself for a while as her sister doesn't have long to go.
So our upper leaves have been developing some burn along their edges but are now yellowing too. I've increased the gap from light-plant to 75cm but is there more to it? Unlikely a deficiency as she's fed 1/4-1/2 recom. nutes every water. Root ph is ok so maybe nute lockout? Chur.
Things I notice here that may or may not answer your question:
1. Grapefruit has a 60 to 70 day flowering time. You're inside of.. week 8? Which puts you somewhere close to (or in) the window. I've grown 8 Ball Kush which is rated at around the same flowering time, and it was ready in the 6th week. Because of this, the buds didn't get super fat but the quality was still amazing!
2. She LOOKS like she's close to done flowering. All the nutrients are being sucked out of your lower leaves, and possibly now uppers too. This likely means she's ending her life cycle and using up available nutrients within instead of pulling them from the soil.
3. As per #2 above, it looks like you're developing some heavy nitrogen burn? If she's at the end of her life cycle, you can feed all the nutes you want and you're just going to overload her because you're adding on top of what she's using from within. It may be time to flush for a few days. Unfortunately I think you've missed your chance to do a proper flush in soil medium (1.5 to 2 weeks!). However, it just seems to make the bud a little harsher, there's no quality effects that I can notice when that happens.
Look really hard at 60x magnification to see if you can find ANY amber trichomes. Even if you just find a small handful, I'd personally go ahead and harvest. If no ambers but more than 50% of your trichomes are milky, I'd personally go ahead and harvest as well (this will give you a slightly more heady, energetic buzz). If you didn't get to flush, make sure you cure the buds for at least a week before you smoke them or it'll be super harsh. Collect kief off your trim, you should get more than enough to smoke for at least a week while you get a minimal cure! There's a demonstration of how to collect kief and quickly press it into a block on my "Gen 2" diary's harvest. From there you can smoke or dry-vape it as is (it'll burn kinda similar to resin, this is what I do with it), put it in joints (also what I do with it), press it into rosin (wish I had a press), turn it into a tincture for edibles (see GreenMachine's "Bucket of Cookies" diary for how to do this!), etc.

Girl is lookin beautiful. Secret santa gave me a 10X magnification lens for my phone which makes for some great (but difficult) shots. Leaves have purpled a bit. Yield looks like it will be significantly more than her sister. For lack of a better idea I'm still feeding her but making sure i get decent runoff to make sure she's not getting too much salt buildup. Will consider beginning final flush late next week.
I'll update this once the buds have had a proper cure but early impression is wow! High feels more sativa heavy and packs a punch. Really uplifting, great for an evening of your favorite music. As i find with all weed strains it doesn't so much make u hungry but food just tastes better than ever before so its hard not to chow down on everything in arms reach. Despite having another bowl late at night i dont recall having any issues with sleep. Smell is phenomenal, I'm just hoping flavour will evolve a bit with the cure cos I'm not getting much at the mo (although this is compared to my last two grows which were super skunk and sour crack so not sure that's fair.).
So happy with this girl and she's definitely going on the grow again list. Relatively easy to grow and train and despite some newbie mismanagement the result was still amazing. Super smelly super sticky and a great yield. Buds look beautiful and potency is top notch(in my limited experience). Will update further once have had a decent cure.
@Luban, Hey there! It's not generally recommended to top autos, as they don't have the same time to recover from stress as their photoperiodic sisters do, so it can potentially stunt them. However, if you feel confident with your experience growing autos, and the plant is healthy, it can be done. Generally growers choose to top the 3rd or 4th node with autos.
