Original Sensible Seeds took the famous Grandaddy purple and mixed it with the potent Black domina resulting in a 95% indica strain that will surely satisfy any indica connisseur. I appreciate the opportunity to run this awesome strain in the Dutch buckets.
I soaked 6 strains from 3 different breeders and both original sensible strains were the first to pop. The taproot emerged in less than 18 hours. Then I placed them into 1.5" rockwool cubes that were soaked overnight in pH 6 RO water. The grandaddy black is the first to break the surface just 3 days after starting the soak.
This girl will hang out under a 23w cfl and will start a pinch of nutrients on day 3. She will be transferred to a bucket soon.
Day 5 after a 24 hour test run of the new system the girls were transferred to the dutch buckets. Will be pumping nutrients 24/7
I did her first water change on day 10 upped the nutrient dose and increased the reservior to 12 gallons. Gave her the first dose of armor si and humic acid. I topped her on day 12 to start 4 main branches. Will most likely top again and start training in about a week depending on how she wants to grow. The goal is a maximum of 5 weeks veg if they cooperate. They are under 240w qb and a galaxyhydro pulling about 140w for now. Will be adding more qb when I spread the buckets out.
Been a smooth week. Started tying her branches down to get her spread out. She seems to be happy. She is sprouting an unusual branch out of her cotyledon. Will pluck it off eventually but curious to see what it does. Gave her a flush and fresh nutrients. Kept the same nutrient dose since all the girls seem happy. Will up it midweek if they look hungry and will be plucking a few leaves here and there as needed to keep light to all the little nodes.
The grandaddy black is looking happy. Will be switching them to flower in a week or less. I gave them a flush and fresh nutrients. The humic acid really makes a huge difference in the uptake of nutrients. I am at about half dose on nutrients compared to what I would have to feed without it.
Winter is approaching and bringing the low humidity with it. All of the humidifiers I have tried either dont work or I have to constantly refill the tank. So I decided to use my redneck engineering skills to throw this humidifier together. It holds 4 gallons of water and she pumps like a freight train. I have dubbed her the Steam Queen. I got 2 cool mist foggers that put out about 400ml per hour each and used some things I had around to make them a little float. Added an old computer fan to force the mist out through a 2 inch pipe. She won't win any beauty contests but she pumps out plenty of cool moist air. I also upgraded my exhaust to a variable speed for more added environmental control. Just going to do a little more training over the next week then try to make some buds.
Day 35 Gave her a flush and fresh nutrients. Added a little maxibloom. Switched lights to 12/12.

Not much to report. Just chugging along. Been on 12/12 for a week. Waiting for them to start popping pistils.

The girls are starting to fill out pretty nice. We are at 14 days since switching the lights to 12/12. The grandaddy black seems to be one of the slower ones to transition to flower but she is showing preflowers and starting to stretch. Gave them the weekly flush and fresh nutrients. This will be the last week of maxigro. I will cut it out and start liquid Koolbloom next week.
RIP grandaddy black. I was spreading her branches out today and noticed a few pollen sacs forming. I grabbed a magnifying glass and peeled one open with a needle to be sure. Definitely growing some bananas. Pulled her up and disposed of her. A lot of work down the drain but sometimes it be like that..... I think I caught it before it dropped pollen.
Looks lovely. Really nice start! Good luck with your Grandaddy. Love your setup - right down to the labelling. I'll stay tuned to see how this show turns out. 👍
