Original sensible seeds mixed up some of my favorites on this one with parents grandaddy purple, GSC, and some gelato to make a well balanced sativa/indica strain that I am sure will deliver some potent flavorful herb. Said to be capable of 25% thc this will be a real treat! I appreciate the opportunity to run this awesome strain in the Dutch buckets.
Of 6 strains from 3 different breeders both the Original Sensible strains were the first to pop. Sprouted a nice taproot in less than 18 hours. I placed them in 1.5" rockwool cubes that were soaked overnight in pH 6 RO water. 3 days from soak and this purple punch cookies broke through with some nice colorful cotelydons. Watching the magic happen never gets old.
She will be getting 24 hour light from a 23w 6500k cfl and will start with a pinch of nutrients on day 3. She will be transferred to a bucket soon.
Day 5 after a 24 hour test run of the new system the girls were transferred to the dutch buckets. Will be pumping nutrients 24/7.
I did her first water change on day 10 upped the nutrient dose and increased the reservior to 12 gallons. Gave her the first dose of armor si and humic acid. I topped her on day 12 to start 4 main branches. Will most likely top again and start training in about a week depending on how she wants to grow. The goal is a maximum of 5 weeks veg if I they cooperate. The first set of leaves came out a little abnormal but I am sure the next set will be fine. They are under 240w qb and a galaxyhydro pulling about 140w for now. Will be adding more qb when I spread the buckets out.
This girl is growing steady and looking good. I gave her a flush and fresh nutrients. Kept the nutrient dose the same since all the girls look happy. Will up the dose midweek if they start looking hungry. Just going to keep spreading her out and pluck some leaves here and there to keep light to the little nodes.
The purple punch cookies is looking happy. Will be switching them to flower in a week or less. I gave them a flush and fresh nutrients. The humic acid really makes a huge difference in the uptake of nutrients. I am at about half dose on nutrients compared to what I would have to feed without it.
Winter is approaching and bringing the low humidity with it. All of the humidifiers I have tried either dont work or I have to constantly refill the tank. So I decided to use my redneck engineering skills to throw this humidifier together. It holds 4 gallons of water and she pumps like a freight train. I have dubbed her the Steam Queen. I got 2 cool mist foggers that put out about 400ml per hour each and used some things I had around to make them a little float. Added an old computer fan to force the mist out through a 2 inch pipe. She won't win any beauty contests but she pumps out plenty of cool moist air. I also upgraded my exhaust to a variable speed for more added environmental control. Just going to do a little more training over the next week then try to make some buds.
Day 35 Gave her a flush and fresh nutrients. Added a little maxibloom. Switched lights to 12/12. Did some defoliation.
Nutrients per gallon
.5 tsp maxigro
.25 tsp maxibloom
.25 tsp armor si
.5 tsp calimagic
.1 tsp 90/10 humic/fulvic acid
Not much to report. Just chugging along. Been on 12/12 for a week but I consider it veg until I see pistils on the tops. Waiting for them to start popping pistils.
Nutrients per gallon
.5 tsp maxigro
.25 tsp maxibloom
.25 tsp armor si
.5 tsp calimagic
.1 tsp 90/10 humic/fulvic acid
Ph to 6.0
Pumping nutrients 24 hours
We are 14 days since switching the lights to 12/12 and this one didn't waste any time hitting flower. She is stretching fast and starting to stack on budsites already. Gave them the weekly flush and fresh nutrients. I will be cutting out the maxigro and start them on liquid Koolbloom next week.
Gave the girls a flush and fresh nutrients. Started them on some liquid Koolbloom. The purple punch cookies stretched nicely and is stacking up some calyxes. looking pretty happy.
Nutrients per gallon
.75 tsp maxibloom
.2 tsp liquid koolbloom
.5 tsp calimagic
.25 tsp armor si
.1 tsp 90/10 humic/fulvic acid
I decided to take some pics without the grow lights this week so the true colors of this girl can be seen. She is doing great other than a little tip burn from too much nutrients. I burn them a little every time so nothing new with that. As you can see there is some trichome development happening and I like what I see so far. I gave the girls a flush and fresh nutrients. I noticed some tiny little things floating in the reservoir and after close inspection there are some tiny bugs crawling around in the perlite. They are not aphids or spider mites and they are not crawling around on the plants so I am not too concerned. I added 2 tsp per gallon of hydrogen peroxide to the reservoir and cranked the pumps up to high to wash them out and try to kill them. After a few hours I am not seeing anymore of them so looks like it did the trick. I ordered some ladybugs and lacewings to throw in the room just to be on the safe side. We are having unusually warm weather for this time of year so figured better to be safe. Other than that I am just going to keep the juice pumping and the lights beaming.
Today marks 5 weeks since I switched the lights to 12/12. At the end of last week I noticed that some of her pistils were starting to darken. I was a little concerned because it is definitely early for brown pistils but all of the other plants in the same system were looking great and stacking white pistils so I just continued to watch her. The pistils were slowly fading from the core so I knew it wasn't a light or nutrient burn issue. Well as you can see in the pictures her calyxes are swelling up and she is starting to ripen! WTF? 5 weeks of flower and she looks like she may be ready for harvest soon. I have never seen a photoperiod plant progress so quickly. OSSC lists this one at 65 to 70 days of flowering but I don't think this one will take near that long. I don't think she will yield a lot since she only stacked calyxes for a couple weeks but looks like she is going to have some tasty buds and could be a great candidate for anyone looking for a fast flowering strain for quick grows? Hard to say at this point since there are no harvests of this strain to compare to yet. I am excited to run another one of these to see if I get similar results though. The trichomes are starting to cloud up a little but they still have some time to go. I might be flushing her in a week if she keeps moving like she is.
Her trichomes are getting pretty milky but she isn't quite ready to flush yet. Only seeing a couple amber ones here and there. Will probably let her go another week before flushing. The buds aren't as big as most but they are super dense frost covered nuggets. I see a little pink coming out in some of the calyxes. I can't wait to sample of this strain. Looks like it is going to be pretty good. I ordered some ladybugs and lacewings as a preventative because I had some little bugs in the perlite. I successfully killed the bugs with h2o2 but threw a few ladybugs in there anyway and released the rest outside.
This Purple Punch Cookies from Original Sensible seeds is a very impressive strain! The buds have really swollen up this past week and the trichomes are packed with milky resin. I have been flushing her for 4 days but looking at her leaves she is still pretty loaded up with nutrients. Just starting to see some yellowing on the lower leaves so she still has several days before she will be ready to chop. I am giving her about 4 gallons of RO water per day after the initial 5 gallons the first day. I really love the bud structure on this plant. She has fat dense calyxes and not much leaf to trim. She smells pretty lemony with hints of chocolate. Not going to be the biggest yielder but she is pretty impressive for a 5 week veg and a really fast flowering period. This strain is definitely a winner in my book.
Harvested this beautiful plant 88 days from seed with a 5 week veg. She flowered really fast and came out amazing! She has dense frost covered nuggets with hints of purple coming out here and there. She has big plump calyxes and was an easy trim. When I take a hit of this bud the lung expansion is almost like shatter. It hits you hard and immediately sends a numbing effects through your body like floating on a cloud. It calms to a nice relaxing high that doesn't knock you out. A great balance. The flavor is sweet and smooth. Reminds me of freshly spun cotton candy. The grow was really easy on this one. She didn't show any signs of issues. She even handled my usual overfeeding very well. Original sensible really hit the mark and even raised the bar on this strain. I would put her up against any strain I have grown. I didn't expect a great yield since she only stacked calyxes for about 2 weeks before starting to swell and ripen but ended up with a little over 4 oz of perfect buds and the trim leaves are frosty enough to smoke if you wanted to. They will be made into some edibles and maybe a little hash. If you like sweet fast flowering strains then this one won't disappoint. Even the lower buds that usually don't ripen ended up almost as frosty as the tops which is a nice bonus!
@Njaak, Yeah I am kinda neglecting my testers also. I do much better when I focus on one setup at a time. There is definitely a learning curve to running hydro but the rewards are there once you get a routine down. You are ahead of most on your first run and as long as you improve a little every grow then you are doing great in my opinion.
@Njaak, Thanks man! I like to top them to start with 4 main branches and then just kinda watch them. If a branch is shooting up I let it go. Then I trim the branches that don't look like they are trying to grow up fast.
@MomnPoppaSeed, I am doing some slurricane and sugar cane from in house genetics and the apple sundae from cannarado. Probably going to try to make some pollen from the slurricane and let the apple sundae get a taste of it. I also just germinated a fastbuds purple lemonade that I might experiment with too. You can do it with autos also. I did a short diary called "making seeds"with autos. I am sure you would have had a much more exciting title for it lol.
@Wicked_Stix, YES!! That's what I'm talk about..
How exciting is that? That would be so exciting. Which strains are you looking to Lez out?? I haven't experimented with anything like that b4 but then I've been growing autos up until recently.
With photo strains we dont have to pay $$$ for seeds to experiment with.
Love it!!
@MomnPoppaSeed, Hahaha damn the dry spells!! I have a couple little breeding projects planned so if it all works out we might even get to see some girl on girl action soon! 🙊🙈
@Jwjoh, totally makes sense now how you said the buds didn't get as big as others. This one only worked on building buds for a couple weeks. Not much time to get big buds on them.
stunning results g-meister. top drawer nugs a reward for your work hombre.
might have to investigate that recipe of yours - surprise the missus with my newly acquired baking skills!!!
a quality journal - nuff said! 👊😊👊
@mr_h_kovert, Thanks for all the support! And hell yeah you definitely need to try them. It has a more of a narcotic effect than smoking. I am still recovering from the coma after eating a couple pieces last night.
quality over quantity innit and i gets the impression you aint gonna be going short over the next few months. you could of course be a bit of a hoova - i know my intake has substantially increased since i started growing me own. [I ought to mention that missus k is a j edger hoova too!]
@mr_h_kovert, haha I try to hoova down what I can but I like sharing too. Will definitely be stocked up for a little while. Doubt that will stop me from sprouting some new ones though!
Love this breeder and after seeing this I'm going try out the purple punch cookies! Really nice journal! I recommend try the alien gorilla strain from them it's my new favorite strain to grow super great stuff!
