Growing this strain in my homemade fully organic preamended super soil
I purchased a 4.5kg Super soil "kit" 50L Perlite 40L Expanded Clay balls 1.5kg Dolomite Lime 2.5kg Zeolite Uptake aiding and soil conditining mix
This was mixed with 150L of Composted Worm castings and Manures , 60L Peat 50L Loam soil
The Super soil was then prepared and mixed 3 months ago It has since been curing under a large tarpaulin cover . The pile of soil was turned weekly
Because this soil is quite "hot" I needed to have a 4 inch layer of Plain Potting Mix and Perlite between the Seedling and the super soil.
Ideally the roots will reach the nutrients at about week 3 and have everything it needs to thrive.
I will only be using plain water apart from a fortnightly feed of Worm Castings/Compost Tea brewed with Molasses and bubbled for 3 days and a
monthly teaspoon of Mycorrhizal Fungi Innoculant.
The Harvest from this Plant will be used for making a CBD Medicinal Coconut Oil Tincture .
Endured almost a full week of Cold days with very little sunshine .
So not a lot of new growth but I see preflowers so expect the stretch to begin in earnest.
A week of mostly warm and sunny days should Give it some Energy to burn.
The plant has produced very little in the way of side branching , so maybe a dominant central cola will Grow.
Weathers warming up now and the plant is moving into full flowering mode with new pistil growth on a daily basis .
Fed her some Compost tea early this Morning.
Suffered 4 days of unrelenting bitter cold weather with the occasional hail storm and strong winds aswell .
Still the plant looks fine to me and has suffered no damage that Can be seen.
Hopefully the following 7 days will be better growing weather. I added 3/4 of a cup of Mr B's Greentrees Bloom Organic mix and
watered in with a seaweed solution.
Another fairly slow week however we did have one pretty hot day which is a sign of things to come . The CBD plant is starting to develop stickiness and a
very pleasent aroma.
Another week done We had a maximum temp yesterday of 38 celcius which was a shock to the system after a long cold winter.
The Plant is Slowly fattening and getting a very pleasent yet unique aroma to her.
5 weeks into flowering now already and she has a very distinct smell wofting from within her floral cluster. 😉 Not an unpleasant smell by any means , a bit skunky
with a spiciness I can't quite describe. I have no Idea when these high Cbd strains should be harvested so I guess I'll just observe the trichomes and pistils as per usual
and hope for the best. All in all it's been a very easy undemanding plant to grow so far .
Well it's officially summer here now , the CBD plant is ticking along nicely it's got a rather nice smell eminating from her I just have to keep reminding myself it's not gonna get me high but make medicine.
Fastbuds CBD 20:1 has been in flower now for 7 weeks , I'm thinking it may soon be ready but I'll post a question and ask for Experienced growers
ie those who have grown and use CBD strains on a regular basis when they harvest their plants and why.
I'm in no rush to harvest so if the consensus is to leave it I'll leave it . Cheers for checking in 👍
Looking for advice from experienced CBD strain growers on optimum harvest times for Medicinal use.
Do you harvest depending on trichome stage if so at what stage?
For CBD, as trichome just turn yellow wold be a good time. There is would be no practical improvement on yield. On quality, I could not notice the differences between very yellow trichome or just starting yellow. CBD put me to sleep all the same.
But please note that I don’t get the giggles from my high. Smoking the same joint, my friends go silly After a few puffs.
Took three joints for me to be in the mood. But then, I generally still just chilling.
And My CBD plants seemed that they coupled go on forever even after harvested. Flowers are just there and don’t develop further.
I finally pulled them at 10 months.
It's been a very Hot week here with daytime temps hovering around the 40 degree celcius mark for the last 3 days straight.
I'm thinking this plant is pretty much done but still waiting on a definitive answer to the grow question I posted. If I fail to get an answer I'll harvest it by next week.
I'm only giving her water with a very small taste of Blackstrap mollasses mixed in. Ph'd to 6.4 Thankyou for stopping by to look at my Diary.
My very First time growing a CBD strain so I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised and very happy with the Resulted Quality of the product
Yield could have been a lot better but I'll take responsibility for that. I still have a few of these seeds so will definately run them again very soon.
Harvest Day for the Fast Buds CBD20:1 Plant.
The trichomes are all clouded with some Amber so I decided to Chop her down Early this Morning Before the sun has risen.
The Plant material will now be dried , Decarbed and then ran thru my Magical Butter machine with some Organic coconut oil to produce my CBD rich OIl.
I will then use the Oil as a medicative Sleep aid and for general Muscle relaxation and well being.
Just a few quick notes on the Plant itself:
The CBD 20:1 Plant grew fairly small and compact with a main central cola and no side branching. It also had a high leaf to calyx ratio , however the leaves do contain a fair
coverage of trichomes. All thru the grow the plant emmitted a strong skunky aroma that I found very pleasant. Towards the end of the growth cycle the plant developed
overtones of Chocolate and coffee and some stickiness. I will smoke a little just to try it but the majority will be used to make the Coco Oil.
