Alright!! First autos on the way!! I decided to do one from FastBuds - Six Shooter, Dinafem - Cookies, & Seedsman - Northern Lights.
*I also found a random bag seed from over 5 years ago and it actually germinated so I’ll be running it in a solo cup until i figure out its sex.
I decided to germinate the seeds by planting them directly into solo cups. After 3 days we have lift off.
After a day or so they were moved into the tent to enjoy the humidifier & bask in the stronger LEDs.
Finally at the end of week 1 I transplanted the solo cups into 2 gallon fabric pots using fox farms happy frog soil.
I cut the solo cups but leave the top inch still intact. My goal is to train the roots to search for water around the pot, and not rely on water being poured on them directly (or indirectly if you get technical lol). Ill be watering around the solo cup, promoting the roots to grow outwards.
After a day in the fabric pots i notice purple stems which indicate the plant is searching for nutrients. This tells me that the plant is trying to search for water. Since they’re still young i water a bit inside the solo ring but not too much afterwards, still trying to train those roots to grow out. :)
Week 2 i fed them just PH’d water. Each plant seems to be healthy and loving life. Here is my report for each plant:
Seedsman NL: Seems to be slightly overwatered. Still growing at the same rate as the others however. There are strange mutations on some of the leaves. Nonetheless the NL plant is thriving!
Fastbuds Six Shooter: Wow this plant is growing fast! Its currently growing the fastest and the healthiest of the bunch! Im super stoked to see what happens with this one!
Dinafem Cookies: The cookies is taking it’s time as its the smallest of the bunch. Im expecting the cookies to take longer to harvest than the rest right off the bat due to the different harvest times from the plants. The NL is about ~60 days, same as the Fastbuds, but the Cookies is about ~70 days. Harvest times aside the Cookies is looking healthy and thriving well!
Random Seed: This mystery strain is doing well however im noticing that it’s starting to wilt due to it being underwatered. I kind of forgot that it was in a much smaller soil pot so ill have to water it more often and keep an eye on it!
NEW PLANT: I’m also including another Seedsman NL seedling for an Instagram Solo Cup Challenge.
Week 3!! Wow these autos have grown!!
This week I introduced Floranova Grow, CaliMagiC, and some Terpinator to the feeding. The autos are taking in more water now that it’s growing.
Everything else has been good. Going into next week I’ll start training them. Here’s my report for each 🌱:
Fastbuds Six Shooter: The leader in the tent! Growing fast and strong since day 1! Extremely resilient, healthy and very enjoyable to watch.
Seedsman NL: Also doing well! There are still marks on the leaves that indicate some slight overwatering but I’ve corrected this last week however the leaves remain the same. I'm wondering if maybe inconsistent genetics are involved?
Dinafem Cookies: The smallest of the 3 main Autos but she is healthy and very resilient. I’m not doubting for a second that I’ll be seeing some of the best buds from this one!
Solo Cup Challenge: @autosolocupchallenge This week was great, everything went smoothly out of the gates and our solo cup auto is loving life!
The Random Bagseed: It doesn’t seem to be doing too well. I’m wondering if it’s just bad genetics since it did come from and old OZ from years ago. I do still have some seeds of this random mysterious strain so maybe I’ll try again? Also though it could be the Solo Cup it’s in. Only time will tell! Will continue to monitor and test!
Week 4 in the books!
At the end of the previous week I started low stress training the three autos. As the plants are growing more and more the humidity is able to remain at ~55%RH without the help of the humidifier.
At the end of week 4 the training has paid off and we’re starting to see the lower growth catch up. I went too ham on the nutrients again and caused some leaf burn, I’ve since cut back and only ph balanced water for a few days.
Autos Report:
Fastbuds - Six Shooter: Still strong and resilient. Responded very well to LST. Excited to see her in flower!
Seedsman - NL: Prone to overwatering and my heavy hand doesn’t help. LST was just what she needed. Lower growth starting to pop and her greens are coming back!
Dinafem - GSC: Beautiful fan leaves on this one. I can tell the genetics on this one is very strong. She started off slower than the rest but is catching up thanks to some LST.
@autosolocupchallenge - Solo Cup Challenge: I’ve been debating training on this one. I think since the plant is stacked so short I’ll give it another week or so to see how she grows.
Week 5 update!
I definitely went too light on the nutrients and slightly overwatered, I’m trying to keep a perfect balance between airflow and humidity. I’ve backed off a bit on the watering but slightly increased the nutrients.
Fastbuds Six Shooter: This one is doing its flower stretch, growing up to 13 inches! Spacing on nodes are perfect, allows for light penetration through the whole plant.
Seedsman NL: Still very susceptible to overwatering. I’ve since backed off but increased nutrients. Did some light defoliation to increase light.
Dinafem Cookies: The leaves on this one are thick, she’s searching for nutes and pulling them from her bottom fan leaves, just like the others. The aroma this one gives off is just amazing.
Solo Cup Challenge: This one is just starting to stretch out for the flowering phase, I’ve been afraid of over doing the nutes for this challenge but it’s clear I’ll need to up the feeding. Overall she’s still standing, can’t wait to see where this goes!
Week 6 Update!
This week I ran into more feeding issues. I went very light on nutrients after last week and somehow overdosed the nutes as the plants are showing signs of N toxicity or some sort of nute lockout.
I’ve started the flush and will monitor over the next couple days, I may just end up flushing until harvest at this point but we shall see!
Strain 🌱 Report:
Fastbuds Six Shooter: Tallest in the tent! This girl is having no issues other than the N toxicity. Im hoping a good flush will wake her back up!
Seedsman NL: Surprisingly this one seems to be drying out super fast, at first it was prone to overwatering but now it’s loving each feed!
Dinafem Cookies: Very resilient! Even after the feeding fiasco last week its still looking strong unlike some of her sisters.
@Autosolocupchallenge : Just about done with her flowering stretch. I’m surprised at how resilient some of these plants are. Nonetheless I’m happy so far!
Week 7 Update!
These girls have survived another week with me hah! Ive started flushing last week, especially since it seems that I botched the nutes the previous week by giving too much. This week I didn’t touch them much besides a light defoliation to the lower canopy.
Fastbuds Six Shooter: Still goin’ strong! I was hoping that flushing for a week would fix the droopy leaves at the top cola. Being an auto I'm sure it’s just really sensitive. Only time will tell!
Seedsman NL: This one is putting off some really nice aromas right in the tent. Its little sister in the solo cup is also putting off the same aromas! 😊
Dinafem Cookies: I’m surprised how this one is so resilient. The other girls look a bit beat up but this one is still glowing through the weeks. It really goes to show that each plant is a bit different and have their own requirements.
Solo Cup: Still goin strong! Already putting off some amazing smells in the tent. Im hoping to see some more growth on the cola this coming week.
Week 8!
Its getting closer to the final weeks for some of these girls. Its been getting cold here and some of that cold temperature is affecting the plants. I run my lights at night to keep the temps fluctuating too much.
Fastbuds Six Shooter: This one has bulked up a lot since last week! Lots of dead leaves but thats to be expected as I'm flushing her and letting her pull nutes from her fan leaves in the final weeks.
Dinafem Cookies: Loving how this strain is so resilient! This plant actually stretched out a bit more this week and more pistils are popping from the bud sites. I can start to see trichomes on some of the bud sites as well!
Seedsman NL: This one seems to be moving into it’s final stages of flower just like the Six Shooter. Both strains have a similar harvest time (~65 days) according to the breeders, so I’ll expect to harvest these at the same time, soon. Leaves are yellowing from the flushing.
Auto solo cup challenge: Some yellowing on fan leaves as its moving into the final stages. It’s definitely been fun growing in a solo cup! It really was a learning experience!
Week 9 Update!
This week has been smooth so far, more fan leaves are dropping as the plants are pulling whatever nutes they can from them. Some pistils on the six shooter & NL are turning orange. I expect to harvest soon on those two so ill be uploading close ups of the trichomes in the upcoming week.
Fastbuds Six Shooter: The cola on this one is packing on some weight! So far its the biggest one in the tent! Its not long now before harvest!
Dinafem Cookies: I love how this one is showing its colors towards the end if flowering. Hints of purple and orange as well as the yellows. I can’t wait to see What she looks like in her final week.
Seedsman NL: I was expecting a little more from this one however beggars cant be choosers. I love the smell it gives off and the plant is showing signs that she’ll be done very soon!
Auto solo cup challenge: This one is also getting there! Its been fun growing in a cup and seeing the plants cycle on a micro scale!
Fastbuds Six Shooter: This one yielded the most at almost 13 grams lol! Also the smelliest one too. Buds came out nice and dense. I’d definitely run Fastbuds again!
Dinafem Cookies: Had a great learning experience with this one. Although I was expecting a little more from it, I realize there are many factors when it comes to yield. Would definitely run this strain again!
Seedsman NL: Love the smell on this one. Buds look nice and frosty. I wasn’t expecting much from this one but it actually surprised me in the end. Would definitely recommend it!
Nice to see our recently released Auto Cookies being represented on the grow diary platform 👍
Thank you for choosing our genetics for this adventure 🤗
Let's see what you can do 🤘
All the best ✌️
