Epokwan Greetings fellow growers!
So, my third auto pot had a GSC in it that got stunted, so I moved her to join another plant, freeing up this 30L pot as we head into late Spring in South Africa. I picked up a good deal on Dutch Passion Autos and I will be rotating these 3 pots year round with their fruity and high potency varieties.
This plant has a strange mutation, not sure how it will grow out, but hopefully it will only contribute to more yield! 💪 I don't feel like growing another stunted midget plant :(
Shortly after I popped this seed, the weather turned and we've had non-stop rain. I'm not equipped for indoor growing, but I made a plan to get her under CFL lighting at night to help get things going. I'd prefer to start and finish my autos under cover in a hoop house, the one I made is quite small so I either have to creatively train these plants or build a bigger hoop house and let them grow straight up. What do you guys think?
Thanks for checking out my grow 🙌

Epokwan So the mutation got worse, the outer leaves formed a cocoon that engulfed the new growth shoots so they were not getting any light. Also the first leaves were joined together and growing strangely. I decided to make some incisions to release the gnarled growth inside as well as the outer leaves. The outer leaves responded well and straightened themselves out very quickly. As for the growth on top, it was too deformed already and was starting to shrivel and die. New shoots are now appearing at the nodes, so it's looking like it could make a nice comeback! Hoping so!
Cheers for now :)
Epokwan I feel like with some care this plant can be great! I transplanted her into the final 30L pot with high hopes that she will fill it :)
The top mutated leaves seemed to be stalling the plant, so I snipped that off. I gave a watering of 500ml reverse osmosis water and kelp concentrate at 20ml/L. The new leaves took off shortly after that and are growing steadily, looking a lot more like regular leaves and they seem happy!
A friend gave me some worm wee which I used with my regular watering at 50ml/L along with probiotics.
Peace! 🌱✌️😜

Epokwan Everything was going well. Since both shoots seemed to doing well I thought I would start LST. I finished and was walking away when I noticed that the one branch was wilting. When I looked closer, the stem had started to snap, about 70% through. I had just done something similar the day before on another plant so very disappointed that I can't get this right. I guess it's just too young.
Anyway, moving on - the branch seems to be recovering and although it's got some catching up to do, it's probably going to make it. Let's just hope this plant isn't too badly stunted after all this BS - mutations, snapped branched etc.

Epokwan She seems to be pushing on but flowering is getting close, so I hope there is enough veg time before then.
It's likely that this will be a tiny plant in the end, but I'll see it through and hope for a nice suprise :)

Epokwan A nice growth spurt this week and first signs of pistils. Hoping that this strain gets major growth in during preflower to make up for the rough start! Also, the unavoidable topping in the beginning has basically produced me 2 plants, so I can't complain. No more signs of mutations, it seems to have only affected the beginning, but unfortunately enough to limit the potential of this plant - oh well, at least I'll get a taste of it!

Epokwan Loving how much this plant grows during flower. Sativa dominant autos (even the mutants) seem to perform well in our climate, so I think for outdoors I'm going to look more into Sativa dominant strains.
Added some alfalfa hay for mulch as we enter a possibly very hot summer.
Cheers for now :)

Epokwan Not much to say this week - which I'm learning is a good thing, right! Everything is going smoothly with this plant.
Did some LST to just open her up a bit to let some light into the middle. This strain responds will to the training! The plant is still stretching and I'm very happy this plant not only survived but has started to thrive. Can't wait to try another one of these plants, I feel that a non-mutant would definitely live up to the "XXL yields" that this strain can achieve.
Cheers for now :)

Epokwan Loving this plant's progress. I think that auto sativas might be the way to go, they definitely prefer the climate! Heading away for a few days, I'm confident these will be fine for a while :)
Epokwan Pistils and trichomes are developing nicely! Loving how this plant flowers, truly awesome to watch. Not getting much smell happening yet, but being a Sativa everything happens a bit later than usual. Lovely strain so far.
Guessing I have about 4 weeks left
Cheers for now 👍
Epokwan This plant is starting to smell really good. It's been humid, and unfortunately getting some bud rot. Keeping a close eye and removing any symptomatic areas of buds as well moving undercover during rain (if I get there fast enough).
These buds are really starting to take form and look great. According to spec, these genetics do finish a bit early, seed to harvest at 11 weeks. That's probably worked out based on indoor setups, so I'm happy to leave this to go longer, but it depends on weather conditions and bud rot. Watching your hard work be derailed by diseases is heartbreaking, but this is nature - and these genetics come from afar and not used to the climate here, so it just means I have to figure out a way to innoculate against this - perhaps trying out some trichoderma next round.
Cheers for now, friends.
Epokwan As much as I want to push this another week at least, I have to make a call here.
The bud rot is getting worse and I have to decide if it's worth the risk of going for longer in hopes of better quality bud with the trade off of potentially much lower yield. Since the trichomes are cloudy (with a few amber), and the buds seem to have hit a plateau in bulking up - I'm gonna chop her today. I'm happy enough with the quality of bud I'm looking at and it's not worth it to carry on - especially with the damp weather and rain we're having. It's been a very wet season, so it's had some challenges.
See you at harvest!
Mind-blowing Sativa dominant strain. The citrus/lime notes are right up there, with a refreshingly sour aftertaste, but note - she's a creeper! The take-on is steady and smooth but it certainly hits hard. I would have got way more yield out of this if she wasn't a mutant. I lost a lot of veg time, but pleasantly suprised at the recovery. Had to chop a bit early because of bud rot issues, but will grow this again for sure!
Epokwan Despite losing a week or 2 of decent veg time due to mutation complications, as well as harvesting a week or so early due to bud rot, I'm really impressed with this strain. She pulled through when I didn't think she did, and has delivered some of the tastiest sativa buds I've had. Careful with humidity as bud rot is a real threat to these plants, but I will grow this strain again for sure and maybe try to combat this pro-actively with trichoderma or something that is beneficial to an organic setup.
I'm impressed with Dutch Passion's range, stay tuned for more diaries of their strains outdoors.
Excited to follow your new daiquiri lime auto baby, they look like their off to an awesome start bro.
I am also growing some daiquiri limes, be sure to take a look at my diary. It is my first grow but I'm sure some reference from each other's grow will be exciting and informative!😁
Grow strong young ones 🙏
@Epokwan, obviously a little different but similar. The advantage yours has tho is it looks a lot healthier than mine did at the same age. Mine was very yellow at the start. He is smaller but still has 8 colas forming, no plant left behind 😂🌱💧☀️🙏
@Epokwan, I germinated 3 of them and 2 were perfect and then there was the mutated (cabbage) one. He really struggled there for a while but he is make a late run for it! When I do my next diary this week, check him out! 🤟😁
@raptor65, thanks hey! Unfortunately she got stunted and won't be big, but at least I'll get to sample it since I have 2 more seeds of this and can try again another time
@Budlyfe, I see that, brilliant man! Mine is bouncing back too. Being an auto, it's on the clock but I have faith in her, she's formed new leaves and essentially turning out to be a very early topped plant. Now she needs to race and veg as much as possible! I'll update my diary next week so you can see :)
