Devil on My Heels

1. This is my 2nd Dark Devil grow. The last one turned out great! This time around I've changed to a soiless medium, I have more powerful lights, and I'm growing in a 5g container instead of a 3g canvas container. 2. Currently DD is getting a daily misting of 25% strength Veg. Nutes consisting of Sensei Grow A+B and Sensei Cal MagXtra. I'm watering, as needed, with full strength Recharge.

1. DD sure does show a lot of fast growth! 2. I'm misting every morning with a 25% nutrient solution. So far I've watered w/1l filtered water and Recharge a couple of times. 5 gallon containers and a new medium is throwing me a curve. Hopefully I've learned and I won't run into over watering problems with this girl.

1. She is growing like a champ. 2. I think I have the watering/feeding problem solved. I've been feeding at 50% strength and misting at 25% strength. I mist daily, unless I'm feeding, then I use filtered water. I'm keeping my eye on leaf color, structure and formation in determining if I should cut back. My current thinking is to go light on veg. nutes, but go 100% strength on flowering nutes. 3. Currently I'm feeding DD a little over 1l every 2-4 days. I found that checking the soil and lifting the pot is a much safer way to determine if my plants need water.

1. DD is really starting to take off. She has about doubled in size this last week. I expect to see a good deal more height before she starts to flower. Judging by the looks of her bud sites, I'd expect that to happen sometime next week. The last time I grew this strain it transitioned pretty fast. It also finished a lot faster than I expected too. 2. I'm watering and feeding very lightly. I check the weight of the pot, check to see if the soil is still dam further under the surface, and look at the appearance of the plant before doing anything. I had some watering and nutrient issues with a few other plants lately and I'd like to leave those mistakes n the past. Currently she is receiving 50% strength veg nutes for waterings 1-2. I feed only Recharge for watering 3. I'm currently only watering/feeding twice a week. 3. Once she kicks into flower, I will push her like a rented mule, but for now I will let her think she is a princess.

1. DD made the full transition to flower this week. She was really close last week, but the buds hadn't appeared yet. 2. I stopped feeding veg. nutes last week. I fed a full dose of Recharge then switched to a 50% strength solution of Flowering nutes. 3. I'll feed 3x at 50% then kick it up to 100% for the rest of the grow.

1. DD is still making the transition to flower. She has grown a bit since last week. I'm expecting her to shoot up another 5 inches or so by the time she is done. 2. I've been changing over to flowering nutes. I'm using the schedule feed 50%+feed 50%+Recharge. I just finished the Recharge feeding. Next feeding will be at full strength. I will have one last addition of Recharge at the end of this feeding cycle. 3. Finally, I've increased the amount of water given each feeding from 2l to 3l. I'm growing in 5g pots so that should be the norm.

1. DD is about done with her transition to flower. Stretch has pretty much stopped and all of the bud sites are showing pistils. 2. She is receiving full strength flowering nutes in 3l of water about every 3-4 days. Every 4th watering I've been using Recharge. Recharge is great for the roots and microbes. It also gives DD the opportunity to utilize the nutrients available instead of giving her more. 3. After I took the photographs I did a major pruning and defoliation. I usually will prune off any lower branch of future popcorn bud after the plant has completed transition to flower. I also defoliate any fan leaves that are shading bud sites. I'll do another, lesser, pruning in a few weeks. I'll continue defoliating as needed throughout the grow. 4. This is the 2nd time I've grown this strain. The first one was almost black it was so purple. This pheno is just green. I wonder how its going to change the structure and flavor of the buds.

1. Houston we have color! I did not think this girl was going to color up. Her structure, color and size are so much different from the last time I grew this strain. I guess it pays to grow this strain in the winter. 2. Otherwise the grow is going as planned. I've been doing some defoliating of fan leaves to open up bud sites. I've also pruned off some of the lower popcorn buds. 3. I've increased the amount of water to 1 gallon. i thought it would decrease how often I was watering, but she is a thirsty girl. I'm watering/feeding about every 2-3 days. 4. She is currently receiving 75% strength flowering nutes. I am only using Cal-Mag Xtra the first feeding. After the 3rd feeding I only feed Recharge with my water. I'll continue this for the next 3-4 weeks while she flowers. 5. I was asked by the Sweet Seeds Rep. to do a pH and PPM test. I did a slurry test the day after watering/feeding. The results are posted with the other data. Thank you for taking the time with my grow.

1. DD is coming along nicely. She is getting some beautiful color on the sugar leaves and buds. I can't wait for the buds to stack and fill in. 2. I've spent the last week defoliating troublesome fan leaves and pruning off popcorn buds from below the canopy. It brings a tear to my eye everytime I prune one of those little buds off the plant. 2. DD is getting full strength flowering nutes in a 1g soil feeding. I only feed Cal-Mag on the 1st of 3 feedings. Feeding number 4 is only Recharge. This schedule should last for 2 watering cycles I'm thinking. 3. I've grown this strain before and she really races to the finish line. I might only have 3-4 weeks left before harvest, but it doesn't look like it yet.

1. This girl is really showing her colors. Wheras there was no hint of purple during veg., she has completely gone grape! 2. Buds are still growing and filling in the stalks. I figure another 2 weeks of full on flowering before she starts to taper off and finish. 3. Currently she is receiving 1 gallon of filtered water every 3 days. I'm feeding full strength flowering nutes. Feeding #1 contains Cal-Mag. Feeding #4 is only Recharge. 4. Finally, she is one fragrant plant! It's a pretty hardcore aroma. I have a feeling its going to get a whole lot more fragrant as time goes by. The last time I grew this strain, there was a hint of this aroma, but not nearly like this.

1. DD is one stinky plant! Whenever I open the tent, her aroma dominates and its a crowded tent! 2. She is about ready to start the next phase of her flowering. I notice buds are really filling in as opposed to growing and stretching up the stalks. I'll switch her to a late flowering nute schedule next week. 3. Right now she is getting 1g of filtered water every 3-4 days. I break feedings up into sets of 3. The first feeding she will get Cal-Mag. After the 3rd feeding, I'll give her Recharge only.

1. DD is becoming a raging purple machine!😝 She has colored up nicely. 😀 2. She is being fed/watered about every 3-4 days. I have switched to my late flowering routine. I stopped using Recharge, Big Bud, and Cal Mag Xtra. I've reduced the stength of Sensei Bloom A+B and Bud Candy to 50%, and I've started using Overdrive at 100% strength. I will continue this regimen for another week then finish the grow using only filtered water. I expect the buds to really start swelling in the next week or so. Harvest should be in about 3 weeks. 3. Finally the smell is just outrageous! It is quite overpowering. I wouldn't call it diesel-like, but it definitely has a unique aroma. I had heard that this strain has a funky bouquet. They were right.

1. The time is near for DD. I'm seeing amber trichomes popping up here and there on the buds. The buds themselves are phat and smelly! 2. I gave the last feeding of 50% strength nutes on Tuesday. Today she received water only. I'll give her water only for the next several waterings. Then I'll let her dry out a bit then harvest. I'm thinking 2 weeks tops.

1. This will be the final posting prior to harvest. DD will get a final watering on Sunday then I'll harvest next week Wednesday. 2. DD has been getting filtered water for the last 4 waterings. I'm trying to flush more naturally to bring out the flavor and aromas of the strain. 3. She is a pungent plant. I have 2 other flowering plants in the tent and she overpowers both of them! I can only imagine what she will smell like when she is fully dried and cured.

I've grown this strain before and this grow was completely different in terms of plant structure and flower production. My first grow had a typical structure. Main stem and numerous secondary branching resulting in a christmas tree like plant. Buds were long and dense and yield was fantastic. This plant grew into a canopy. Buds were much more airy and individual flowers were "finger-like". This resulted in a lot of popcorn buds. Even the primary buds were airy with finger-like flowers. The smell and color are exactly the same. The high is really nice. I don't know if this is one of the phenotypes of this strain, but the outcome was not my favorite. In the future I think I'd like to find a purple strain that is a little more stable.
