Special Queen #1 - Round One

EastCoastGreen Hey everyone, This is my second grow on this site and my 4th ever grow. The first time was an outdoor grow, 2nd grow was a pretty crude indoor setup, the 3rd I built a tent with climate control and grew in soil. And now for my 4th grow I'm experimenting with Recirculating Deep Water Culture (RDWC). It's already off to a great start and can't wait to see how this goes! Cheers

EastCoastGreen Already had my first mistake... for some reason I thought you could bring the water right up to the rockwool because it was oxygenated. This caused 3 of my plants to drown. The water levels differ slightly so the last bucket was lucky to have its water lower and it handled it much better than the others. The water has since been drained to below the net pots and they are recovering. I’m estimating a 1 week setup from this mess up

EastCoastGreen This week I have been dealing with 3 of the 4 plants that have wilted from having the water too high. The water is now lower and the plants have started to recover. I probably lost 1 week in growth due to this mistake..

EastCoastGreen The plants are finally through their rough period, they’re off to the races now! Roots are now coming out from everywhere’s! Performed my first water change this week. It was incredibly easy with the RWDC system. I am now changing the water weekly.

EastCoastGreen Super stoked to see what the plants had done over the holidays. I was away from them for over a week and the results blew me away. Compared to my previous grows I am at least twice the size at the same time of their growth cycle. Can’t wait to see them grow into monsters..

EastCoastGreen Week 6 is a pretty normal week, nothing crazy has happened. Pretty decent growth from all of them. Only a little bit of browning on one, but it hasn’t persisted since my weekly flush. I’ve been following the fox farm feeding schedule pretty closely and it’s recommending to go into flowering now. In the past i’ve let them get a lot bigger before switching over, but I think i’ll give it a try this grow.

EastCoastGreen Switched the mars hydro light over to bloom. By doing so it cuts the output by half, so to make up for the reduced power I added 8 bulbs worth of 3000K fluorescent bulbs. I haven’t done dual lights so it will be interesting to see the benefits.

EastCoastGreen The girls are blooming! The switch to flowering is starting to kick in after a week. Growing very strong and, and so is the smell.. next week going to try my first flush using the general hydroponics solution. Only 6 or so more week to go!

EastCoastGreen The flush seemed to work very well this week. Using the Flora Clean by General Hydroponics stripped a lot of the dead and old roots. A couple days later it was a huge burst of new white roots everywhere. Pretty happy with it and will definitely use it again 2 weeks prior to harvest. Other then that, the plants are doing great and are growing strong. Lots of new bud development.

EastCoastGreen The girls have finally gone into full flowering! The buds are coming in full strength. They seem to be eating up the amount of nutrients that I’m supplying so I’m going to up them next week.

EastCoastGreen Just got back from a week vacation and was not disappointed when I got home! The buds are now stuffed full of trichomes and are fattening up very nice. Going to run one more week of nutrients, then a final water flush.

EastCoastGreen This grow is coming to an end soon! I gave them a big trim to let extra light in so the buds can fatten up a little more before harvest. Gave the roots a bath and now a week long flush before harvest next weekend. I think the plants have hit there max and I won’t be seeing any more substantial growth, so may as well chop em down!

EastCoastGreen So that was fun, and trouble free! First round with RDWC was a success. Compared to previous grows I barely had to manage them. It probably reduced my time with the plants by 50%. I know I had spacing issues and a lack of light that led to reduced bud density. I’ll be fixing that next grow. I chopped them down last night and they’re drying. 21C and 51%RH. Look for the video at the end of this week for a surprise time lapse! I’ll keep doing them, and they’ll get better each time! Cheers, and see all you again for the final weigh in a week ✌️

EastCoastGreen Awesome strain, especially for the price. The amount of crystal on it as nuts. Was easy to grow, smokes awesome, cheap. Would highly recommend.
