I germinated Crown Royale seeds and planted 3, I'm also starting 3 White cookies atm, but i plan on just picking 4 to take to flower. I have a 4x5 tent with cloning racks so i just started the seeds in there with cfl lights.
All 6 have sprouted after 3 days. One of them sprouted super fast. Like 2 days before the rest. Not sure why...
Keeping humidity up at 68% a non issue except at night when heater runs more often.
Shells still attached to 2 and the colydron leaves on one sort of glued together
still tiny lil' BBs
Starting off week 2, Growth seems to have slowed. I assume its just that the energy is being focused on the roots.
I've got a few Leaves now so im gonna go ahead and put these under my LED light with the switches set to just veg.
So far only been feeding it distilled water bout every 2 days. but by the end of the week i started to see some veg happening. I had fed the soil a little Molasses. Maybe that helped jumpstart the frog soil/ ocean forest blend.
This crown royale is growing beautifully. Started with some light Nutes this week, and made a better co2 generator. Just water, sugar, yeast, lil baking soda, and i thought maybe some natural sugars and nutrients might be good so i chopped up a lil carrot and put it in there. Thing is bubblin steady and i just fed the tube near my fan so it should be circulating co2 around my tent. I dont have a meter so not sure my ppm, but i believe!
Ive been keeping my LED nice and close so they are coming in good and short/bushy.
My only concern with these is that 1 of my 3 plants is still growing alot faster than the others. It almost seems like a week ahead of the others. would sort of like my canopy to be even, and my main concern is... could it be male? if its not i'm cloning that baby!
So this week I switched my light to full spectrum, which was providing a bit more heat, so I raised it to like 1 ft above my canopy. The manufacturer suggests 16” but I’m trying to keep my nodes close together.
Introduced some micro nutes and and a bit of Future Harvest’s easy bloom+ to the feed schedule.
Mid week had 1 showing signs of under watering, glad it was just that.
1 of these 3 Crown Royales was a bit taller than the others so near the end of the week I topped her and started a lil’ LST to expose those nodes better.
I have to leave town a few days so I just set up a little drip irrigation system to give some fresh water every 2 days while I’m gone. These ladies are due for a flush anyway.
A lot went down this week with these Crowns. Started with a flush cuz I spotted some nute burn.
I gave 1 of 3 to my friend, he will make clones with it for his hydro setup. Where We live it’s Legal to grow 4 plants, and I started 6, (including 3 White Cookies) so I’m downsizing to 4 plants total. In my 4x4
I’ve got 2 Crown Royale plants here now that I repotted into 7 gal fabric.
I’ve named the 2 plants Lolita and Ringo.
Lolita was topped first, so shes bushy on top with a bunch of nodes showing so the LST is minor just pulling some branches to expose nodes.
Ringo I’m trying a different style with. I topped her at the beginning of the week and did heavy LST and bent the main stem right over exposing all bottom nodes. I’m gonna try to take the main stem in a spiral.
The plants are small, but nice and healthy, showing like 7-8 points that could turn into colas. Growth slowed the last few days due to transplant shock but my 1 gal pots were almost root bound so it’s a good thing I transplanted when I did. I added another “1000w” LED and another clip fan yesterday, so my environment is great rn. The flush dried so I’m back on the nutes.
I think we gonna see some major growth next week.
Well, not to much action this week but at the beginning I made a rookie move. I had some LST tied to the edge of my fabric pot and I went to move it and Lolita took a break to one of the main branches. I tied her up and she seems fine. It been a week and it’s healed up. I’m now using stakes for my LST. I’ve got a nice even canopy going so I’m gonna go into 12-12 starting tonight!
Good first stretch week. Did some light defoliation and added CaliMagic to the mix. Everything seems to be going well for these babies. Seeing some pistols just coming in now. Put in a dehumidifier slowly setting the hygrometer to bring the humidity down as I develop buds. Also slowly bringing down overall temperatures. Just a lil bit.
Still stretching, bud sites forming nicely. Trying to get my humidity down, I bought a dehumidifier from vivosun, same company that makes my tent, it is removing water from the air but still.... 60 rh. I’ve tried all the things online I can find. except defoliating. This week I’m gonna do some heavier defoliation to try and open up airflow under my canopy. Maybe a 2nd dehumidifier?
So.... alright week for these Crown Royale babes.
but... because i did 2 different methods on these 2 plants to see what i liked better, the one i did extreme LST on is alot shorter, so i put the light closer. still within the suggested distance but i do have a 2nd light in there too so i may have given the smaller one light stress. Some pistils seem to have turned brown prematurely, and im seeing spots and leaf edges damaged. If you know another reason this could be happening let me know.
At the beginning of the week, I did some defoliation to battle the humidity. It spikes in the morning, trying to improve airflow and stuff but id say im averaging like 57%. took the carbon filter off my exhaust fan and it seems to help by moving more air thru. The dehumidifier i got is doin its thing but still. I'd like it lower. Not a tonne of fresh air moving thru the garage that my tent lives in that might be a contributer.
But yeah... bud sites filling out nicely.
All good this week. buds growing nice still. getting lots of sugars. Not sure what the leaf damage last week was, but havnt seen any new spots so... all good? I added a 2nd intake duct to my tent so that took care of the humidity issues.
Just coasting. Expecting these to fatten up nice. I think what i thought might be light burn was just some nutrient burn. I got some more nutrients from Future Harvest this week so we'll see what those do.
-Seams like a may have 2 phenotypes of this strain. the 2 plants look a bit different, and Ringo, the smaller one is starting to mature. getting some nice almost yellow colour in the buds and the pistils are a nice brown. Alright week.
-Gonna start watching the tricomes.
These babies doing pretty good. Buds are maturing.
Checked the Tricomes and im seeing a mix of cloudies, clears and a couple ambers.
Yesterday I gave them their last nutrient feeding, so the next watering will be a ph'd water flush.
Crowns are finishing strong nice spikey pineapple looking colas.
Gave a flush at the beginning of the week then a feed of plant flush so they starting to cannibalize a bit now.
Trikes are like 10% amber, so i think im gonna lower the temp to like 20c even during the day. Maybe in a day or 2 ill try that 48 Hr dark thing before i chop.
But at the end of the week these babies coming down id say.
Still stinking thru the carbon filter!
Here we are... Chop day! Just been flushing for a bit now, and id say these babies are ready. Tricomes are about 30% amber.
Cut off fan leaves to take these last photos, then chopped em and hung the whole plant for 2 days before I will cut branches to put in the drying rack.
I Will follow up with a yield post soon.
Okay so overall, a good experience growing this strain.
Its a bit of a speedy high, Its energetic and uplifting but still strong in the sense that it makes me feel sorta dumb and trip over my words. Trying to note the taste and effects were tough as we were really cooked. Can def smell and feel the sativa side of this Indica Dom hybrid. The plants looked more like a Sativa to me anyway.
The smell is like Pepper, Flowers, and a touch of pine.
The smoke tastes like Pepper, Spicy, and woody like cedar or something. Stings in your nose but its not harsh. no coughing fits. Just spicy!
Burn is pretty clean. burns well, but not total white ash. not terrible tho. Does burn real nice.
Only a week into cure so I'll prob update more on the flavours and effects later.
Learned alot over the last few months, With this being my first grow I’m pretty happy with the results. They were grown along side some White Cookies which smell a lil better and Bigger buds (also by Crop King) Im still stoked on the Crown Royales though!
Pretty sure both of these are the same phenotype, Lolita was bigger than Ringo. I believe the reason was I did heavy LST on Ringo. Bent her over and tried to take the main stalk in a circular route. Lolita was just topped and had minimal LST to expose bud sites. Ill do that style from now on.
Lolita gave me 61.5 gr while Ringo only had 45 gr dry buds on her.
Total weight on the 2 plants was 106.5 gr
combined with the 110 gr i got off my WC thats almost a half pound out of my 4x4.
216.5 gr + a few gr of bubble hash :) not bad but hoping to almost double that next time.
@GrowLikeYknow, nice. They definitely seem happy. Was just curious as I made some upgrades to my environment this week. Led's inc. Got a spider farmer sf4000 and a mars hydro II 900 that should be showing up any day. I noticed your watts were similar to the sf4000. Thought maybe you were running it and had some insights.
@GrowLikeYknow, I know this is uber late, but I have humidity problems when I put my fan full tilt as well. Most likely thing I can think of is that it's not drawing air well because it's creating turbulence in the environment too much. Again, this diary is hella old, so this is more for other growers; make sure you tune your fan to the space! Sometimes all you need is medium low to draw air from the space properly!
@MovingOn,
Yeah I’ve got a carbon filter and inline exhaust goin full tilt. I’ve got another 4 inch inline for my early veg chamber on my tent. Maybe I should add that inline to pull even more air. I live in Vancouver BC so it’s rain all winter. We have a super high RH here.
