Hello readers, another one to throw onto GrowDiaries. I am going with the “more is more” mentality and balancing my poor winter growing conditions with germinating many seeds in the hope of successfully growing a few, *moment of silence for other dead seedlings* Day 3. This is from FastBuds and is one of their fast flower photoperiod testers. Hurray! “FF 2 - 55 days Mostly Sativa.” Seeded in a peat pod in a container of HP Pro Mix and Myke Herbs and Vegetables mycorrhizae. My lighting is a full spectrum LED with 300Watt actual draw, with a pod that is 1/6 of that again directly over the seedlings.

Day 10 from seed for the second FastBuds fast flower tester. First note, this has been the tallest, lankiest, maybe healthiest one of the bunch I’ve got going. Next note, all my seedlings are struggling and dying. The temperatures are just too cold and swing too much, the basement floor too cold. I’ve diverted my basement furnace output directly into the tent and installed a secondary thermostat to my furnace in an attempt to save everything. It may not be too late with FFT#2.

Day 17 for the FFT2 tester. A mix of things going on, good and bad. A bit overwatered and the rebound after fixing the heat wasn’t instant. However, it does seem perky and has grown slightly. I’m patient, but if its permanently toast I will look to pull the plug. I’m rooting for a comeback! 🙌🏻

Day 24 for the second FastBuds fast flowering tester. For anyone new, go back and you’ll see I struggled with consistent heat and warmth which really damaged this seedling. It is unclear if it will recover, and my patience is quickly wearing thin. After fixing the heat I did overwater a bit, and so that forced me to go without irrigation almost this entire week. The struggling seedlings were perky and fine with that. I did need to water and so a bit drooped again. We shall see where this is going I guess but its clear there is some green returning.

Day 31 from seed for FFT2, the second Fast Buds fast flowering tester. This seedling was one of the better ones, if I can say that, and was going to be kept where some of the others were going to get pitched. However, a miraculous comeback for all the plants! I’m not sure if I was overwatering or underwatering, or both, but eventually I gave a very dilute 18-18-21 Miracle Grow Tomato food with blackstrap molasses. When the plant’s looked good, I gave a less dilute, but more than usual 24-8-16 Miracle Grow All Purpose with blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). And now here we are, things are looking good. I will look to actually transplant soon!

Day 38 from seed for the second of the FastBuds fast flowering photos. FFT2 had always been a strong seedling, and growth just continued all week. I wanted to assess the roots and how big the plant was so I transplanted to a larger container. My soil mix was: 10 parts HP Pro Mix: 5 parts worm castings: 1 part Fox Farms Happy Frog soil, and Myke Herbs and Vegetables mycorrhizae. I will continue to liberally apply water and give lots of time, I’d say things look positive.

Day 45 for the second of the FastBuds fast flowering testers. This one is tall and lanky and so it was the first to get manipulated. I performed LST and then before photos today I topped the new growth. I want everything to catch up now. I haven’t repotted just yet as I want the stem to strengthen and thicken first. I haven’t seen any plants root bound yet. Just water for irrigation.

Day 52 from seed for FFT2, the second of the Fast Buds fast flowering testers. This was the original stretcher and was the first tester I did anything to. I performed LST awhile ago, and so it sat longer. This week I transplanted and continue to hack away at any growth. My soil mix was 10 parts HP Pro Mix: 5 parts worm castings: 1 Fox Farms Happy Frog soil. I’m waiting on offshoots to catch up!

Day 59 from seed for the second FastBuds fast flowering tester. Its slow going, but its going. Whereas other plants are suffering a bit of temperature problems, this one is a bit more removed from the floor and still green (the stems and branches are still green). I may have to rotate to give some other plants relief. I’ve just given water. At this point I’m am just waiting on off/side shoots.

Day 66 from seed for the second of the fast flowering Fast Buds testers. Just filling out from last week’s defoliation. I’ve moved some plants out so the tent has better air circulation and more light distribution. Just patience for now and hopefully a bit more consistent temps. Water only. The green is not totally healthy and so I will look to transplant for feed some plant food if it doesn’t recover a bit.

Day 73 from seed for FFT2, the second fast flowering tester from Fast Buds. Interesting seeing this clearly in hindsight as I type, the yellowing and apparent deficiency progressed all week. Unfortunately I went on vacation and had to leave for three days, and so I was hesitant to give plant food when not available to flush lest something went wrong. I came back to a further regressed plant. I have since fed 18-18-21 Miracle Grow Tomato plant food, Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag), and Earth Alive Big Blue Wave. But, this will take time to absorb - so the plant looks bad. Who knows it may look worse next week. However, I’ve had plants in way worse shape so I’m not worried, stay tuned. Group shot is before I defoliated this week, and I took off much of the damaged leaf matter. You can see the stems are badly discoloured.

Day 80 from seed for FFT2, the second in the fast flowering Fast Buds line. It seems it is taking its time absorbing food, and recovering. Not much progress. Just vegging away and I will only give water as needed. I am trying to exercise more patience in my gardening in general. I will be sure most nutrients are consumed before flower. So far so good? I’m not so foolish to say that.

Day 87 from seed for FFT2, the second of the fast flowering testers from Fast Buds. Still struggling along. I’ll have to hit it with food this week, but letting it dry out completely first. Doesn’t look pretty but the roots are very much alive. Just be patient.

Day 94 from seed for FFT2, the second of the fast flowering testers from FastBuds. Not a great week, but some recovery. Of the yellow plants in my tent this one has probably rebounded the most. I recently fed 24-8-16 Miracle Grow All Purpose, and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Just time and trying to get it healthy enough to flower.

Day 98 from seed for the second of the FastBuds fast flowering testers, FFT2. It has been a week since its feeding and it absorbs nutrients and is returning to green. It helps to have the room so I have put this plant into flower. I will continue to let it dry out, and then give water through stretch. The group shot is of my flower tent, not my veg. tent.

Day 105 from seed for FFT2. One week of flowering complete, about seven weeks to go. Not looking healthy and a bit gangly, but the point of turning back is way behind. I have been noticing returning hitchhikers, maybe even spider mites. The constant return had me riled up, and with everything on lock down it was concerning. Thankfully my buddy and I did hook up and he gave me some more moonshine, 90+% ethyl group alcohol, which is a good deterrent. Just water through stretch if its needed at all. My flowering lighting is two 300 actual watt LEDs with 96 watts of yellow LED supplementing it.

Day 112 from seed for FFT2. Two weeks of flowering complete, six weeks to go. I really went awhile without any irrigation, and then only recently gave water. I will start into flowering food soon. Sort of spindly, small, thing branches. I did defoliate quite a bit heading into flower, but it looks lanky. I don’t have high hopes but we’ll see.

Day 119 from seed for FFT2. Three weeks of flowering complete. About five weeks to go. My guess would be this strain is a bit more lanky, even if this is a poor spindly attempt on my part. I don’t expect much yield. Most recent, I fed 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom, a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses, and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). *must have made a major error with some measurements last week

Day 126 for FFT2. Four weeks of flowering complete, four weeks to go. Lanky! Wow, I’ve said it before. Not to be confused with the bushy plant that is beside it. FFT2 is clearly sativa. Last irrigation was just water. I’ve been bringing the fast flowering testers a week longer so perhaps five to go?

Day 133 for FFT2. Five weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. About four weeks if I consider I pushed most of the fast flowers an extra week. A few days ago I fed 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom, a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses, and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). I’ll know for another time that this plant likes to stretch and reach. The smell, unreal. Fuel, very sharp and strong! It has really come on in the last few days. I don’t expect much yield but I can’t wait for the taste.

Day 140 for FFT2. Six weeks of flowering complete, about two week projected to go. I’ve been pushing the fast flowers so maybe three more weeks. I am very surprised by how much bulk FFT2 puts on at the end. It was scraggly, a sativa, but the smell had me intrigued. Interesting how much this little clone has grown. I should plant more seeds. Last irrigation was water. This tangy fuel is wonderful smelling.

Day 152 for FFT2. Eight weeks flowering complete, this is the projected window. Eff all my other plans lets chop this now and get on with it. I flushed for some time today in the splash sink and its ready to go for harvest tomorrow. Sitting in the dark right now. Won’t be much, but the buds reek. Very gasoline like or fuel smell.

This is the second photoperiod fast flowering tester from FastBuds, FFT2. Like the others I’ve put through, this one had a bought with low temperatures and period of struggles. Getting into flower was a hassle and so yield is absolute toast, even for sea of green I am below the aim. Like most of the fast flowers, I’ve noticed you can’t muck them up at all, keep everything healthy and happy. During growing this one appears to be very lanky, I was doubtful any bud would form. Because of the sativa qualities, I can confirm that it wasn’t until late in flower that it really bulked up, and continued to pack on weight until the end. The smell when growing is lovely, and this carries over to the final product. This may be my top tasting strain ... ever! Seriously, very interesting. Sour, pungent fuel, with a tone of tropical melon or pineapple or something. First and for-most it smells like a gassy fuel, but there is flavour in addition to that. This smell/taste also blends well with other strains. Effects are sativa, I do find it is almost contained to the head. It does relax, and I would say it has a kick, but I would suggest it is flavour first. My big regret (other than just not growing it well) is not having a clone of FFT2. I do have more seeds so no worries, but it would have been nice to have - at the time of lockdown I ran out of the proper cloning supplies.

Similar process each time. Flush for a few weeks and then give a bit of dark before harvest. I wet trim, bud wash, and then hang to dry. But wash is two parts. First dip and swirl in a container of baking soda, lemon juice, and water. Then rinse in a container of just water.
