Put another one up on the big board - this time its another Fastbuds tester, the fourth in the series. “ FF 4 - 56 days Sativa / Indica”
I seeded in a peat pod in a container of HP Pro Mix and Myke Herbs and Vegetables mycorrhizae, on a heat mat in my clone box before moving to the main tent.
My lighting is a full spectrum 300 Watt actual draw LED with a smaller pod 1/6th in size, directly over the seedlings.
Day 10 for the fourth of FastBuds fast flower testers. The theme of the week was cold, as my basement continues to swing especially at night, and the floor just drops the root zones of plants. I was forced to divert my furnace basement output directly into the tent, and I have a secondary thermostat installed to provide consistency. I am hoping I am not too late to save all the seedlings.
Day 17 for the FFT4 tester. I overwatered a bit this week because I was paranoid about humidity, the furnace has been consistently warming the tent. The rebound from low temperatures has taken time, but it looks like it has grown slightly. At some point I will be giving up but for now hang in there. You can do it! 👏🏻
Day 24 for the fourth of the FastBuds fast flowering testers. Lots of my diaries reveal the struggles, if you are new, as I eventually solved the winter cold. However, this seedling suffered greatly. It appears it is returning which is encouraging, but I’m also out of patience. I anticipate moving on soon... but for now. After fixing the heat I felt I overwatered and so last week I didn’t give any liquid. The seedling responded well. I did have to give some water and so its slightly droopy again.
Day 31 for FFT4, the fourth of the FastBuds fast flowering testers. “I think I might throw this one out ... wait, what?” Out of nowhere, its alive and green. This is a bit of a shock. I didn’t know seedlings could turn it around. First, was overwatering or underwatering? Or both? Second, I hit it with a very dilut 18-18-21 Miracle Grow Tomato food with blackstrap molasses. It responded and then I applied a less dilute 24-8-16 Miracle Grow All Purpose with blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). Now, it looks capable of growing! Going to have to keep it afterall.
Day 38 for the fourth FastBuds fast flowering tester. Business as usual as growth and colouring has consistent. The comeback is in full swing. No reason to change track, just looking to give time and patience (and just water). I repotted to a larger container this week to get a peek at the root structure and growth. My soil mix was mostly: 10 parts HP Pro Mix: 5 parts worm castings: 1 part Fox Farms Happy Frog soil, and Myke Herbs and Vegetables mycorrhizae. Onward!
Day 45 from seed for the fourth of the FastBuds fast flowering testers. FFT4 is my favourite so far of the ones I’ve started just from the perspective of being intriguing. She is a sativa but is the shortest and stubbiest of the batch of testers I’ve started so far. The small container got filled out of nowhere very quickly. Being stacked on top of a larger pot full of watered soil, the roots were hell bent on getting down into the cool moisture. I.e. I’ve noticed stacking pots on top of soil will sometimes enable them to fill the container faster.
So I transplanted this morning things were going so well.
My soil mix was : 30 HP Pro Mix: 5 Fox Farms Happy Frog: 5 worm castings: 2 ASB Greenworld Sheep Manure Compost: 2 ASB Greenworld Black Earth: 2 ETI Greenhouse Gold Seafood Compost: 1 Blood and Bonemeal pellets: 1 Green Gaia mineralized phosphate (guano): 1 pulverized egg shells; and Myke Herbs and Vegetables mycorrhizae. I heavily layered. This was at the bottom with a solid barrier of just HP Pro Mix which I also used to side and top fill. The plant will have to work to get at the soil amendment. This is more hot than I would normally give a plant this small so it will just get water and time for awhile.
Day 52 from seed. FFT4 is just moving along at its own pace, not a race, just slowly growing .... I’m not judging! Its fun seeing a little short, stubby plant that isn’t giving me hassles and forcing me to tie constantly. I haven’t really done much of anything other than trim fan leaves and such.
Day 59 from seed for the fourth of the FastBuds fast flowering testers. Its a mixed week and update for FFT4. The good is that its still growing, and green; side shoots are growing. Overall, my tent has struggled with temperatures. Because my region has been inconsistent, warm days aren’t triggering my furnace upstairs and the tent has been colder. I did some trimming after photos. Just giving water still at this point. I’m monitoring what appears to be pests (small white specks), but it doesn’t appear to be gnats or mites. We shall see.
Day 66 from seed for the fourth of the fast flowering Fast Buds tester. I’m hoping by moving out a larger plant that I’ll get some consistent temperatures across the entire tent, and better light distribution. I don’t really have room to transplant just yet so I may have to eventually apply plant food. For now, just water and time. A window to flower will not open up for quite some time.
Day 73 from seed for FFT4, the fourth of the Fast Buds fast flowering testers. Pretty rough week as many of my plants were hit with imbalances or deficiencies. My guess is its partially attributable to me being overcrowded and slowing down transplants/repotting. I went away for vacation this week and so I didn’t want to feed plant food and then leave and not be available to flush if something went wrong, so the symptoms worsened. I fed plant food upon my return: 18-18-21 Miracle Grow Tomato, Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag), and Earth Alive Big Blue Wave. It is too early to see relief, and there is always the possibilities symptoms worsen. I’m not worried as I’ve had plants on much worse condition before. I chopped much of the badly damaged leaf matter. The first group shot is before defoliation this week.
Day 80 from seed for the fourth of the Fast Buds fast flowering testers. Steady as she goes. I have to imagine all the soil amendment is gone, and it is slowly absorbing last week’s plant food. I think things are going well but I won’t say until I’m vaping it haha. Lots of time to veg. and I will try to get some leaf fade heading into flower. Will be water as needed.
87 days from seed for FFT4, the fourth of the fast flowering testers from Fast Buds. Just trucking along. Not the most beautiful, but alive and kicking. I’ll have to hit it again with plant food, but ultimately I want to transplant when I have room. Spring is coming and my basement is a bit warmer, much appreciated.
Day 94 from seed for FFT4, the fourth of the fast flowering testers from FastBuds. Basically no growth, just slight recovery. Much earlier in the week I fed 24-8-16 Miracle Grow All Purpose, and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). I am going to really let it dry out before any water.
Day 98 from seed for FFT4, the fourth of the fast flowering testers from Fastbuds. Not pretty, but coming back slowly. Its been well over a week since feeding, and I have allowed it to really dry. Still some moisture left and then I’ll give some relief and water. Because its on the mend and can continue to absorb green I have thrown it into flower. I was able to take a single clone, not many darts for the dartboard. We shall see. The group shot is of the flower tent, not the veg. tent.
Day 105 from seed for FFT4. One week of flowering complete, about seven weeks to go. Letting FFT4 really dry out through stretch, and it looks like it is still absorbing nutrients. Not a very impressive plant on account of me of course. It got some residual pest treatment next to FFT2 which is always a positive.
My flowering lighting is two 300 actual watt LEDs with 96 watts of yellow LEDs supplementing the spectrum.
Day 112 from seed. Two weeks of flowering complete, six weeks to go. Just slowly coming along. I withheld water for a long time and only recently irrigated. I’ll start to apply flowering food now. It was already a struggle heading into flower so I have low expectations.
Day 119 for FFT4. Three weeks of flowering complete, about five weeks to go. As with most of the other fast flowering testers, I didn’t really give this one a fair shot with health going into flower so its not really exploding. Hopefully I’ll have a sense of the smell and type of bud albeit on a microlevel. I last fed 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom, with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses, and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag).
Day 126 for FFT4. Four weeks of flowering complete, about four weeks to go. Of the first five fast flowering testers I’ve tried, I’ve done this one the greatest injustice. Just a tiny little thing. Ahh well, carry on. Last irrigation was water. To note, I’ve been bringing the fast flowers an extra week longer.
Day 133 for FFT4. Five weeks of flowering complete, about three weeks to go. Plus the extra week I’ve been generally pushing the fast flowers. I recently fed 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom, a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). I still don’t have a handle on the smell yet. I won’t get much yield, but I’m hoping to get a handle on the taste at least.
Day 140 for FFT4. Six weeks of flowering complete, about two projected to go. I’ve been letting the fast flowers go one extra week so about three left. Last irrigation was water and I suspect thats what I’ll end up giving until the end, maybe. The smell is faint and hard to describe so lets see what the effects are.
Day 147 for FFT4. Seven weeks of flowering complete, one week projected to go. Add one for consistency sake. Almost there! I want to cut these little budlets and have a sample. I will just give water and fade it away.
Day 152 for FFT4. Eight weeks of flowering complete, this is the projected window. I said I was going to hold back, but screw that plan lets harvest it now. FFT4 is sitting in the dark after being flushed. Ready to go tomorrow morning, sampler coming up.
This a flavour review of FFT4, the fourth if the fast flowering photo period testers from FastBuds. I had major troubles with all the plants, with temperatures and other issues, and this is not great for sea of green. The genetics here did not easily bounce back and so I only got a small taste sample.
As stated, none of the fast flowers did well as winter finished up. A larger plant size and optimal conditions are needed, these genetics can’t really push through bad environment.
The smell and taste wasn’t really present. This ocassionally because of over feeding, I don’t suspect that happened, but my point is I acknowledge that messing up does effect taste.
As a product I can only speculate and compare what its trying to be in taste and smell. It reminds me a bit of Hash Plant, in that it tastes similar when you don’t really nail the taste. Sort of a musty, hashy, ashy, sort of smell. Not great, and not the same “must” I use for other strain descriptions. It does sort of come through mixes too, depending on the flavours.
The effects seem really potent. I don’t normally find strains hit me directly this hard, I do “know” when I’ve vaped this. I’ll put it as a hybrid, and I find I just am generally stoned. This is certainly the selling point, and I’ve saved it for select wake ‘n’ bakes or timed when I’ve wanted an effect kick.
I will probably look to give some seeds away as gift and spread this one around to get opinion. I certainly need a better trial.
It was just a small plant that took zero time. I flushed for awhile and then gave darkness before harvest. I wet trimmed and then bud washed before hanging to dry. Washing is just dip and swirl in a container of baking soda, lemon juice, and water, and then a container of plain water.
