All 5 seeds germinated relatively quickly using the paper towel method. Transplanted into 3 gallon fabric pots when 1/2” tap roots were showing and then used humidity domes over each seed until sprout. Have only been feeding pH’d water with CalMag for this first week. The plant with the blue marker appears to be slightly stunted and is growing pretty slowly. All other seedlings appear to be healthy and growing well. Going to slowly be nudging down RH over the next few weeks, and will begin feeding nutrients during week 2.
12/30 - Noticed some slight CalMag deficiency. Increasing CalMag to 5ml/gal and going to begin watering more frequently at slightly lower pH.
1/1 - Fed with nutrients other than CalMag for the first time and new growth seems healthy. Still watching CalMag issue but I think I have corrected it.
1/2 - Plants seem to be responding really well to nutrients and increased CalMag. New growth seems to be very healthy and there are no new signs of CalMag deficiency. The plant with the blue marker is still stunted... not sure what is going on with it.
1/3 - Moved stunted blue marker plant to a different part of my tent to see if being away from the humidifiers/fan helps anything.
1/5 - CalMag issue has been corrected. 4/5 plants appear to be growing well. The blue marker plant is still stunted. Going to be increasing nutes and may begin LST later in the week when 5-6 nodes are showing.
1/6 - Increased nutrient levels.
1/8 - Plants are responding well to increased nutrients. Debating pulling the stunted blue marker plant out of my tent completely. Should be starting LST soon. RH is currently around 50%.
1/10 - Pulled the stunted blue marker plant from my tent. Other 4 plants seem very healthy and are starting to explode. Lowered CalMag down to 3.75ml/ gal, and have slightly been raising pH to 6.2. Will begin LST in the next day or two.
1/12 - Plants are looking very healthy. Going to start LST later today.
1/14 - Plants are responding extremely well to LST. Readjusting ties daily. Also noticing signs of preflower. Noticing some slight clawing in my leaves... beginning of nitrogen toxicity? Wind burn? Going to lower CalMag to 2ml/gal as it is 2-0-0 and only give pH (5.8) water + CalMag next feeding.
1/15 - (1) Still seeing N tox in my fan leaves... looking slightly better then yesterday, but new growth is still showing signs. Probably going to flush my plants with 10 gal of water @ 5.8 pH later today to rid any salt/nute buildup. Thinking this toxicity was caused by over feeding CalMag (2-0-0) @ 3.75ml/gal when I should be closer to 1.5-2ml.
—— (2) Decided not to flush. Plants are still is showing signs of what looks like N tox to me. Just going to feed with 5.8 pH water + 1.5ml CalMag/gal and monitor over the next few days. Will flush if plant can’t correct itself. Purple stems are genetics. Will update with pics tomorrow.
1/16 - Still noticing some slight clawing in my leaves. Going to feed just pH’d water and a low dose of CalMag for at least one maybe two more waterings. Plants all seem to be reacting extremely well to LST.
I am noticing some clawing in my leaves (see day 24 photos)... is this the onset of nitrogen toxicity? What would my next course of action be to correct this?
this is a response to LST,plant doesn't like to be stressed even in little amounts. it is not Nitrogen toxicity.I would keep feeding,no need to take action on nutrients.it will have a straigther look in a few days no worries.
1/18 - Think I have corrected my N toxicity issue with 3 days of feeding pH’d water + CalMag. Just fed nutes again today and going to monitor. New growth is looking healthy once again and buds are starting to form. Doing LST every other day and plants are responding well with many new budsites being exposed.
1/20 - Plants are looking great and responding well to nutrients again. Accidentally snapped off main growth tip/main cola site while doing LST on one plant... big lesson learned to take it slow.
1/22 - Buds are really starting to develop. Plants are all looking good.
1/24 - Two nodes have taken over as the top bud sites on the plant I accidentally snapped during LST. Plants are starting to frost up a little bit and are fading to deep purple around the buds.
1/26 - Plants are all looking great and and fading to a deep purple. Buds are starting to frost and really stack up. Slightly increasing flowering nutrients.
1/29 - Plants are responding well to increased nutrients. Buds are fattening up and look like they’re gonna form some pretty decent sized colas.
1/31 - Did some very minor defoliation and got rid of a few of the bigger fan leaves blocking bud sites. Plants are looking great.
2/1 - Plants are doing awesome. Buds are starting to bulk up and some pretty decent sized colas are forming. Buds are also getting very frosty. Slightly increasing flowering nutes this week.
2/8 - Plants are looking amazing. Deep purple color with a frosty coating of trichomes. Leaves are starting to fade red. Keeping nutrients the same as last week. Also pulling a few leaves from each plant every few days.
2/15 - Plants are all looking awesome. Leaves are starting to fade out a little bit. Buds are bulking up and some orange stigmas are starting to show. Also noticing some slight foxtailing in a few of the colas which I believe to be genetics and not stress related. Thinking one more week of nutrients, then a week of flushing, and then we might be ready for harvest.
2/22 - Plants are all fading out into some beautiful colors. Lower bud sites are still bulking up and shooting out white stigmas. Trichomes on main bud sites are mostly clear still. Going to continue feeding nutes until I start seeing some amber trichome heads and will then flush for a week before harvesting.
3/1 - Plants are nearly ready for harvest. Buds are still putting on weight. Just waiting for the trichomes to go from milky to amber. Hoping to harvest later this week or early next week.
3/6 - Plants were harvested and hung to dry this morning. Buds were oozing with resin and the trichomes were ready. Next update will be with a dry weight.
Overall a pretty smooth first grow. Ran into a few nutrient issues but the outcome far exceeded my expectations and I learned a lot that I will take with me into future grows.
