Fastbuds - 2x Smoothie 2x Zkittlez Autos

A little background on this grow. Tent - Vivosun 3x3 tent 4" carbon filter and fan Lights - 4x HLG QB132 quantum boards (~255w full power) Genetics - 2 Fastbuds Smoothie Autos, 2 Fastbuds Zkittlez auto Pots - Honest Outfitters 3g fabric pots Soil - Blended mix from Maximum Yield website, a full cycle mix that should allow the plants to be given water only. https://www.maximumyield.com/recipes-for-success-building-your-own-organic-potting-soil/2/1006 Contains the mixes, for them to be seen. 12/15 - Seeds were placed on a wet paper towel, and placed in a warmer area. 12/16 - After just about 21 hours, all seeds had cracked, and at least had a tap root starting to show. I put them into the soil at this point, and the waiting game starts. 12/19 (Day 1) - After a couple days waiting, the seeds have finally started to break the ground, and we now have 4 seeds all germinated, successfully starting their grow. This will de dubbed day 1. They have been placed in 'humidity domes', which are actually just the poor mans way of cutting a water bottle and placing it over the plant to trap moisture inside. The plan right now is to water tomorrow, day 3, then leave the humidity domes on for the duration of the first week, removing them either on day 7 or 8. 12/20 (Day 2) - All 4 plants watered today with the humidity domes replaced after watering. I always hate the first couple weeks, as I feel that is when they are most suseptible to being overwatered, but I think I might finally have a feel for it, this being my now third grow in the tent. 12/21 (Day 3) - Change of plans, humidity domes off. I started doing more reading, and seeing that it is mostly for clones until they root. I was thinking it would be beneficial to a new plant, but we are going to just let them go from here. Full on power light from about 28" from the top of the pots. 12/22 (Day 4) - I came home from work, and Zkittles #2 was flopped over. I dont know if it was the introduction of the fan, even though it is blowing well above the seedlings, if it had to do with removing the humidity dome and being in less humid surroundings, or if it was caused by something else. I am quite tired, so I just sprayed some water and replaced the humidity dome and will check when I wake up. Amazingly, as I am typing this, and getting ready to head to bed, I noticed some movement out of the corner of my eye, and she was already starting to stand up. The plant was making a 'jerking' movement as it is slowly starting to perk up. Now I hope she is standing completely upright by the time I wake up. After I woke up, Zkittles #2 was back upright under the humidity dome. I will probably try to take it off again tomorrow after I return from work and can observe for a bit after removing the dome. 12/23 (Day 5) - The pots were rotated about 90°. I am going to try to remember to do that every couple days, just to ensure that the plant rotates around. 12/24 (Day 6) - Plants were given 1L of water today. Well, the pots were. The pots were pretty dry, and the first couple had a bit of water just run out as I was watering too quickly, and it was likely just repelling some water through. When they get watered again in 2-4 days, I will go through, and water them slowly with a hand sprayer, making sure to get the entire pot wet, to help with the hydrophobia of the peat base in the soil mix. Looks like both Smoothies are starting their 2nd leaves, and the Zkittlez look to be trying, but almost appear a day or so behind the Smoothies thus far. 12/25 (Day 7) - 1 week down, and it looks like we are starting to get some new growth starting for the plants, and it should be growth from here on out. At the end of the week, the plants are sitting about 27" from the light. The height of each plant is: Smoothie #1 - 2" Smoothie #2 - 1.5" Zkittlez #1 - 1.25" Zkittlez #2 - 1.75"

12/26 (Day 8) - The 2nd week of life starts today. The pots were turned anther 1/4 turn today. Starting today, the lights will be on 20/4, shutting off from 10a-2p. I feel the small break will give them some rest period, and hopefully be beneficial to growth. 12/27 (Day 9) - Plants given 1/2 gallon of water right before the lights went out today. I tried to water slowly, and assume that 1/2 gallon of water shouldn't really result in runoff, but definitely possible, and as I said before, the pot had gotten dried out, so I have to slowly get the entire thing wet again so it will hold water better. To me, the biggest difference to starting an auto in its final home is the pot size. The young plant doesn't need 1/2 gallon of water, but I also can't leave the remaining soil to just sit there dry. I was curious, and decided to check the pH of the runoff of one of the plants. It went into the pot at 7.0 (tap water), and came out at 6.55. Next time, I will look for my PPM pen and check the PPM of the runoff. Also realized my timer is a bit off, with the lights going off at 1045a, and should be returning on at 245p, as they are set to be off for 4 hours. 12/28 (Day 10) - Everything is looking good so far. Plants are starting to grow well, and I feel better about the soil since it was fully watered yesterday. With the lights now going off, the temps seem to range from 76-80 for the highs, and dropping to 66-68 during the 4 hours of lights off, an acceptable range for me. 12/29 (Day 11) - Growth is starting to pick up, and the plants are finally starting to look like real plants, with multiple leaves out there. 12/30 - (Day 12) - Plants seems to be liking the soil mix they are in thus far. Will be watching them a few weeks into flower and see how they are doing. I was happy with the flower mix soil from Maximum Yield that I used for my last photo crop, so if those goes well, I will have no problem using it again. Watering will be done again tomorrow. 12/31 (Day 13) - Watered today, each plant given 1.5L, with the tiniest amount of runoff coming through. I am going to get a feel for these and how much to give soon enough lol. It amazes me that the medium has settled almost 1.5 inches into the pots. When they were filled, they were filled to close to 1/2 inch from the top, and it has now settled to about 2" from the top on all 4 pots. Pots were rotated 1/4 turn today. Not sure if that I will be able to keep doing it, but I am going to try. 1/1 (Day 14) - The start of a new year and the end of the 2nd week. Everything seems to be going smoothly thus far. The plants seem to like the soil, and are seemingly growing quickly. It does appear to me that the nodes are growing rather close, and the plants were about 27" from the light, so I raised it up to ~30" from the plants for now, and will let them grow into it again for another week or 2. At the end of the 2nd week, plant heights are as follows: Smoothie #1 - 2.75" Smoothie #2 - 2.5" Zkittlez #1 - 2.25" Zkittlez #2 - 2.75"

1/2 (Day 15) - Top of the soil looks dried out. Going to water tomorrow. Rotated them 1/4 turn today. I feel like that is more beneficial to plants outside that might not get full sun, or plants on the outsides edges of lights, but might are pretty much completely under the lights, thus getting pretty fully light at all times. 1/3 (Day 16) - Watered today, 1.25 liters given to each plant. Looking strong and good towards the end of the day (hours after watering). 1/4 (Day 17) - Plants looking good after yesterdays watering. Since this is only my 2nd time ever trying autos (first were just added to a flowering tent, and started to flower really fast, 3rd or 4th week had pistils on the plants), I am going to be checking often to see when flowering starts, though I also assume the weekly heights will be a good measure if they take off one week. 1/5 (Day 18)- Plants continue to grow and look good. It really is just a waiting game unless something bad pops up/happens. I of course always hope for a smooth grow. 1/6 (Day 19) - Going 4 days between watering this time, so watering will be done tomorrow. 1/7 (Day 20) - Watered today, each plant given 1.5L of water. Smoothie #1 has the small start of preflowers, while Smoothie #2 nodes are just starting, and no preflowers just yet. Zkittles #1 has small preflowers, and Zkittles #2 has full preflowers, and looks like it could go into flower very soon, possibly within the next week. 1/8 (Day 21) - End of the 3rd week. Heights after this week are: Smoothie #1 - 6" Smoothie #2 - 5.5" Zkittlez #1 - 5" Zkittlez #2 - 6.5" Those heights show a 2.5-4" gain during the week for the plants. The plants had grown to about 27" from the light during the week, and I raised it back up to 30-31" from the top of the plants.

1/9 (Day 22) - Start of the 4th week. After looking a bit overwatered the last couple days, they are finally a bit more perky and alert looking today. 1/10 (Day 23) - I will say that Zkittlez #2 would now be considered in flower. Might still be another few days for pistils, but it is flowering. Looking at Smoothie #1, she could be considered flowering as well, or at least the next closest to flowering, with Smoothie 2 and Zkittlez 1 looking not quite as close. 1/11 (Day 24) - I really was hoping that keeping the lights under 20/4, that they might get 4 weeks or so of veg, but seems the timetable pretty much keeps ~3 weeks as when flowering starts. Looks like all will be in flower soon, and likely consider next week flowering for sure. 1/12 (Day 25) - Going to make sure I don't overwater them by waiting until tomorrow to water them. 1/13 (Day 26) - Waiting the extra day, when I got home from work, they looked thirsty. Each plant was given 1.5L of water, and plucked a few leaves. I thikn 5 days is going to be the sweetspot for watering now, possibly going to 4 during flower, depending on how they go. 1/14 (Day 27) - They look better today, a day after watering. Smoothie #2 always appears more droopy than the others. The other 3 are fairly perky today. I guess we will see what the next 6 weeks brings, and see how close to being done they will be. 1/15 (Day 28) - The 4th week ends today. Smoothie #1 is showing some curling leaves towards the top. Going to have to watch it. The fan was well above them, but I raised higher, just in case. She is the tallest plant, and had grown to 24" from the light (shouldn't have been too close, but possibly), so the light was raised to 28" above her, and hopefully the rest will continue to stretch over the next week or 2 grow into the light again as well. I still have more room to raise it, but shouldn't need to go much higher. Plant heights after 4 weeks: Smoothie #1 - 12.0" Smoothie #2 - 10.0" Zkittlez #1 - 9.0" Zkittlez #2 - 11.0" Smoothie #1 doubled in height the last week, going from 6-12". Smoothie #2 almost doubled, going from 5.5-10" Zkittlez #1 had an 80% gain, going from 5-9" Zkittlez #2 from 6.5-11", gaining a respectable amount. Those changes further cement their status as flowering plants.

1/16 (Day 29) - 5th week starts. Looks like they might be starting to get thirsty, so I'm likely to water tomorrow vs going 5 days this time. 1/17 (Day 30) - Watered today, 1.5L given to each plant. The Smoothie plants definitely seem to exhibit the post water droop a lot more than the Zkittlez. Not a fan of how droopy they get, but they recover, so I just have to go with it. Both Zkittlez plants are showing actual pistils, though the Smoothies are somewhat behind the showing stage, but definitely flowering. 1/18 (Day 31)- Plants look 'normal' again today. 1/20 (Day 33) - The plants are starting to become incredibly frustrating to me. It has been 3 days since they were watered, so shouldn't be overly thirsty, yet both Smoothie plants look droopy and thirsty. Zkittlez 1 is showing some droop from the upper leaves, and Zkittlez 2 is the only plant that 'looks' happy. I can be pretty sure in saying that I will likely only stick with photo plants going forward. Can't say I'm overly thrilled with the autos thus far. Nothing to do with production, just that they start to flower so quickly, and not a ton you can do to manipulate that. 1/21 (Day 34) - Plants watered today. They were given 1.5L each. I also have been doing some thinking about the watering, and lighting. Since the plants are in full flower now, I am cutting them back to 18/6 lighting, starting today. I think that may possibly help a couple things, mainly, the additional lighting could potentially have been a cause of the seemingly early drooping, and also possibly the curling of the leaves. I feel that both of those issues could the additional light, and since there is going to be less growth now, cutting back to 18/6 shouldn't have much of a negative impact. 1/22 (Day 35) - End of week 5. The Smoothie plants are completely baffling to me. When I came home from work, and took the pictures, they looksed absolutely limp, but they were just watered the day before. When I woke up 5 hours later, they were alert and standing, so I don't know if it had to do with it being close to lights out (sleeping), or something else, but they have been incredibly frustrating thus far lol. (Just as a side note, since I am posting this a day later, it appears they are going droopy near lights out, thus almost 'sleeping').

1/23 (Day 36) - I look at the plants about a half hour before lights out, and the Smoothies look a little limp. Going to check them after lights come on, and then I will almost know for sure that they are 'sleeping' and the droop late before the lights go off isn't as detrimental as I thought. 1/24 (Day 37) - Start of the 6th week. Not much to note for today. 1/25 (Day 38) - Watered today, each plant given 1.5L. A few lower leaves were removed from all the plants. I feel like there is starting to be some discoloration starting on the Smoothies, similar to what I experienced last time. Not sure if they are just more heavy feeders than a mix soil provides, or if they just desire something inparticular, but it looks like I may encounter similar growth as last time I tried to grow them. 1/27 (Day 40) - Not much to note the last couple days. One of the days, I was only around long enough to take the pictures. The Smoothie plants are showing a bit of discoloration, almost just looks like they are more heavy feeders than the others, and seem to need more than just an organic soil to feed to the fullest extent. 1/28 (Day 41) - Going to water and likely pluck a few leaves from each plant tomorrow. 1/29 (Day 42) - 6th week is complete. Each plant had some extra soil topdressed (about an inch or so into each pot) since the original soil had compressed down a bit, and there was a lot of room in the tops of the pots. After doing that, the plants were then each given 2L of water. Removed leaves mostly from Smoothie 1, while the other plants only had a leaf or two taken off mostly. I didn't happen measure the plants last week, but this week, after adding a bit of the soil (might measure an inch or so 'shorter' than had I not topdressed), they are as follows: Smoothie #1 - 21" Smoothie #2 - 16" Zkittlez #1 - 17" Zkittlez #2 - 16" The plants range from 19-24" or so away from the light right now. I also flipped the plants, where the #1s were in the front and the #2 in the back, 1 is now in the back, and 2 is in front.

1/30 (Day 43) - Start of the 7th week. Plants looking happy. 1/31 (Day 44) - Nothing to note today. 2/1 (Day 45) - Tomorrow should be water day. 2/2 (Day 46) - Was a bit busy today, and wasn't able to get them watered. Will get that done when I get home from work tomorrow. Luckily they still looked okay, and not overly thirsty, so I should be able to be okay with it. 2/3 (Day 47) - Some purpling noticed on some leaf tips of the Smoothie #1. Plants were watered today, giving them 2L each. 2/4 (Day 48) - Nothing to note today, only around long enough to take the pictures. 2/5 (Day 49) - The end of the 7th week. Added a connector duct to my 2nd tent, to allow the fan to pull air from both tents (starting to veg some photos). The intake now doesn't seem as strong, but there is suction from both tents, and air is coming in, so it should work. I don't want to turn the exhaust fan up too high, but in a pinch, this will work to exhaust both tents with one fan.

2/6 (Day 50) - 8th week starts. Smoothie 1 shows some faint purpling, and has had the most discolored leaves thus far. Smoothie 2 has the discoloration around the outer part of her upper leaves. Unsure as to the cause, but assuming it will not help her grow at her best. Zkittlez 1 has been pretty good most of the grow thus far. Zkittlez 2 has seemed to pray the most thus far in the grow, and is starting to have her pistils start to darken. At this point, she seems like she will be the one to finish first. 2/7 (Day 51) - Temps are creeping back into the mid 70s, I assume mainly because the intake into the fan comes from my veg tent, so instead of pulling mid 60 degree air into the tent, it is now pulling air that is likely in the low 70s. I could probably water today (4 days since last watering), but I think I am going to wait until tomorrow to water. 2/8 (Day 52) - Watered each plant 2L today. Plucked a few leaves as well. 2/9 (Day 53) - Noticed some more purpling on Smoothie #1 when taking todays pictures. Zkittlez #2 has some darkening of the pistils started, and she was the first to show flowering, so I expect her to be the first to finish, though I don't expect that for another month or so. 2/10 (Day 54) - To me, it seems the trichome production should be a bit more, but we will see as time moves along. Could be partly due to 18/6 lighting, but I have a couple plants vegging in there, and don't want to pull it back any further just yet. 2/11 (Day 55) - Nothing to note today. Hit a deer on my way home from work, so came home, took pictures, and then had other stuff to take care of. 2/12 (Day 56) - End of the 8th week. Could possibly have watered today, but dealing with insurance/estimates from deer accident today. Going to water tomorrow.

2/13 (Day 57) - Start of the 9th week. Watered the plants 2L each today. Also moved them inside the tent, having the Smoothie and Zkittlez switch sides, and moved the #1s back to the front of the tent and the 2s to the back. 2/14 (Day 58) - Plants looking okay after yesterdays watering. Both Zkittlez plants praying upward. 2/15 (Day 59) - Nothing to note. Lost power at my house for a couple hours, so no lights when I came home. No pictures, nothing to say about the day. 2/16 (Day 60) - Smoothie 2 looking a bit rough, but likely to pull some of the worst leaves next watering and see what happens from there. Smoothie 1 seems to have a nice fade going. Zkittlez 2 looks closest to being done, possibly 2-3 weeks. Zkittlez 1 looks to have a bit more time, but moving well. 2/17 (Day 61) - Watered the plants today. Each was given almost 2L of water. While watering, I moved the #1 plants to the back of the tent again, and the #2s to the front. Plucked a few leaves off of the plants. 2/19 (Day 63) - 9th week is ending. Missed a couple days of information adding and pictures this week. Real life definitely was trying to get in the way. Just keep moving along.

2/20 (Day 64) - First day of the 10th week. Should be getting watered tomorrow. 2/21 (Day 65) - Plants were watered, given about 2L of water each. I cleaned up the 'trouble' leaves on most all the plants, anything that was burnt/dying, crisp, etc was mostly removed. Plant were also switched in the tent again, with the #1s moved to the front, the #2s to the back. Next watering I will likely switch the Zkittlez and Smoothie sides again. I pulled out the loupe, and appears that Zkittlez #2 is mostly cloudy, so I expect to be chopping her down within the next 2 weeks. I will let the others show me as they look ready. Smoothie #2 will likely be the 2nd plant down. 2/22 (Day 66) - Day after watering and the plants are looking okay. It really is just a waiting game at this point. Wait and water. 2/26 (Day 70) - I have failed on the updating this week. It's the end of week 10. Zkittlez 2 was chopped today (really close to done, if not, plus I can use the space), wet trimmed, then placed in a tote drying space. The other 3 plants were given 2L of water. Smoothie 2 is likely to come down by the next watering. The other two are fading nicely, and will go longer.

I failed the end of this journal. Between totaling my ride, dealing with the insurance, finding a new vehicle, and then not working, I didn't get to update the end of the journal. I got ~34g from Smoothie 2, and haven't weighed Smoothie 1 yet, as it just went into jars a couple day ago.

I failed to finish the journal due to life. Zkittlez 2 gave me 38g, and I haven't weighed Zkittlez 1 as it was just recently jarred.
