The leaves on the buds have started to die off and all the trichomes are milky. I'd prefer to see some amber trichomes before finishing the plant but, with the plant beginning to die, there is too much risk of bud rot at this point. I switched the reservoir to a flushing solution of PH'd water with FloraKleen. Will flush for a week and then harvest. Hopefully by then there will be some amber trichomes.
@Blueboy2019, These are monster buds! Wide as my arm. Getting so heavy that, even with thick silica-reinforced stems plus netting, they are drooping under their own weight. If bud rot doesn't manage to creep in, this will be a bountiful harvest.
The early growth suffered some nutrient burn because the roots grew faster than expected and reached the nutrients solution a few days too soon. Lesson learned: Keep plain PH'd water in the reservoir until the seedling reaches the proper maturity level to handle nutrients. Anyways, the newest leaves look fine and are growing fast. She quickly adapted to the stronger nutrients inputs and seems to have stabilized. Also, TDS are too high for this early stage because my tap water alone is 400 PPM and then throw in the nutrient solutions, even at low doses, and it climbs to 700 PPM. Maybe I'll ask for a RO filter for my birthday. It would be great to start from 0 PPM water and then add nutrients from there.
She already doubled in size in just three days, going from 6" tall to 12". And it's not stretch. It's bushy, dense leafy growth. This strain is supposed to max out at 24" in height. At this rate of growth, I would guess that she is going to easily exceed that. I'm hoping the height won't be too much though because there is only about 4' of actual usable grow space in the tent before it gets too close to the light.
It's been seven days and still no sign of germination. Keeping my fingers crossed that the seed is good. I have more but would rather not waste them, so I'm only germinating one at a time. Come on little seed, sprout!
It's my first time growing Choco Kush Auto by Amsterdam Genetics. This strain is supposed to be very short in height and low-yielding. Short is good because I grow indoors, but low-yielding?! Boo hoo! So my goal with this grow is to push the strain to its limits! With DWC (Deep Water Culture) hydroponics under intense LED lighting, using the full line of General Hydroponics nutrients and advanced supplements, plus beneficial microbes. Let's give this strain a chance to show us what she can do when treated like a princess!
