First time trying this strain. No trouble germinating at all. 24 hour soak in RO water, then into cotton pads for 24 hours, then into Jiffy pellet and voila!
Day 1 was 10/01/2020
Follow along and let's see how she performs outdoors!
✌️🌱😉
Not too much to report this week, just leaving her to do her thing. Not going to be doing any topping, so maybe just a bit of LST and mostly seeing what the plant does naturally.
Moved her into her final pot this week and started some mild nutrients. She seems strong and handling outdoors nicely, like most of the Dutch Passion varieties I've tried so far.
Cheers for now :)
It's been an insanely hot and humid week. I was worried about this plant and had my eye on her 24/7, yet there was no sign of stress and I just gave extra water and nutes in between my normal schedule. Very nice strain so far, seems tough and grows nicely for an auto. I'm really hoping for veg to be on the longer side with this one, so tired of mini autos!
Peace out, fellow growers ✌️🌱
Major growth spurt from this girl! Towards the end of this week I spotted the first pistil, so I'm expecting a lot more growth next week :)
Very interesting node spacing and this thing has awesome looking leaves!
Looking forward to flowering - but not too soon, more veg time is always good 😝
Extreme heats and then heavy rain haven't held this plant back. It seems strong! This plant seems to me quite big for an auto and I think it will get quite large by the time later flower comes. I would like to know how big she could get if you gave her as much grow medium as she wanted!
Started introducing organic blooming nutes. She looks healthy and happy.
Cheers for now :)
The weather has been up and down again this week. From heavy rains to heat waves. And then rain again.
The heat came suddenly and and I never realised that the medium had actually dried out insanely fast. A few fan leaves had curled up and weren't looking so good, but after some water she's perked up.
I'm impressed at the size already. Excited about this one.
Cheers for now:)
Onward and upward! This auto is impressing me in so many ways. If you're wanting to do autos outdoors, Dutch Passion is great. Loving the height, the leaf structure, the colour - everything. This has been a super easy grow so far, and I'm stoked to have found strains that work for my climate.
Looking forward to tasting this :)
This week was going great until I noticed quite a lot of the fan leaves had been infiltrated by leaf miners. I have a solution for that, an organic garlic based insecticide. You can mix it up to 20ml/l - but I should have gone less than that. Being organic, I wasn't too worried about overdoing it, so I used the full amount at 20ml/l and it looks like it burned the pistils a bit. Hoping that won't affect bud production!
Catch you next week. Hopefully she isn't too phased.
I was away for half this week. Returned to what seems to be a nutrient deficiency. The main fan leaves are yellowing rapidly and browning in spots, as well as curling up as if they've had too may nutes. I don't think they're burned - only using organic feeds in lower than recommended doses. Not quite sure - if you have Ideas, please post them below. Other than that, they are starting to pack on trichomes - interested to see how they come out in the next few weeks. The leaf miners seem to have calmed down, so guessing they don't like my garlic spray.
Cheers for now :)
This week South Africa goes into national lockdown like most of the world. This will be my lockdown harvest.
She's readying fast. I completely forgot that this strain is an early finisher and can be ready in 11 weeks from seed, which is right where we are now. Again, some signs of bud rot are showing - but not much and won't impact the yield. Though, enough to make a decision on for harvest. Next week it is then!
Just giving water until harvest time. Cheers for now.
Stay safe, folks.
Higher than expected THC content. Sets your mind on fire, very much sativa feels. Easy to grow, high yielding outdoor auto that I will grow again for sure! What a pleasure.
Super impressed with the resilience, the yield, and the smoke from this strain. Finished earlier than expected, yielded more than expected and hits harder than expected. Surprised and delighted. Thanks for this Dutch Passion. This was my lockdown harvest and I couldn't be more stoked!
@Ihbag, also - I planted a mix of red clover, alfalfa and vetch in-between the grow - then compacted that with alfalfa grass, so there is some green manure being fed into the soil organically. To get the full benefit of that, you'd need to grow the cover crops for a much longer period but I was in a rush to get my last plants in for the season
@Ihbag, thanks man :) I usually just leave them in the pellets as-is, the roots can easily make their way through that mesh without any hassle. The soil is an organic living soil, you can check out the spec at https://www.organicsmatter.co.za/shop/living-organic-soil/
It's the second grow in the same bag of soil. Being 30L, I wouldn't think the previous auto would have exhausted all that the soil had to offer and it had a break for about 3-4 weeks while I fed the soil fish hydrolysate and probiotics during that time. Hoping the previous roots will decompose quickly enough. Guess we'll find out lol
You're plants look like thier doing really well, I'm also doing a couple of Dutch Passion strains - AutoGlueberryOg and Auto Critical orange punch. I've defoliated it and it's doing pretty well tbf. Its pre flowering/ pre flower stretching. Happy growing
