Well look at the circle of life I have created. There is a definite downside to going on vacation a week before you plan to collect your Durban Poison seeds. First off, you cant predict the weather and the ultimate windstorm that followed. Second, fourteen foot tall plants put out a lot of seeds. A lot. So while the upside is I have new plants sprouting up where my old mother plants used to be, the downside is that the entire neighborhood does too. Despite that, I have thousands of seeds from last season if anyone would like them still. Ive also planted two new strains. White Widow, which has ultimately sprouted already. The other is a mystery, and given to me by a generous grower on Strainly. He doesnt know what they are either, but we should find out in the coming weeks.

Not a whole lot going here. The weathers been very cold but the Durban just doesnt seem to care. Never seen such a hardy plant. The mystery buds and white widows have sprouted but still are touch and go. Hand cream recipe in case anyone asks. 2 cups MCT oil 2 ounces flower (Blue Dream CBD in this case) put in oil machine for 1 hour, strain. In double boiler, add the following: Cannabis infused oil. 1 cup bees wax 1 cup shea butter 1 pipette of Vitamin E oil 2 ounces vegetable lecithin Pipettes of various scents to your preference. In this case its spruce. Gently blend. Let cool in jars overnight. Enjoy.

Cold and raining this week. Did some pruning. Got little MJ seeds sprouting up in all sorts of places that got pulled. Some hit the compost pile and just kept growing. Popped Ducksfoot went in the ground this week. Hopefully we will see some results in a few weeks.

Been awhile since I updated this. Frisian duck did not survive a transplant unfortunately. I replaced it with some Sour Diesel CBD I had lying around. Two Durbans end up males and were culled weeks ago. One is flowers and two are still in their growth stage. The one in the compost pile could be anything. I experimented planting a few weeks earlier than last year. We had a warmer winter than usual and I thought I could get away with it. The Tutankhamen survived, albeit stunted. I've never grown this variety before, but its extremely compact and seems meant more for indoor than out. No real issues with pests this year compared to last, but its still very early. The Blue Dream CBD/Durban hybrid looks really beautiful. The combination of the red Durban stems with the blue tinged leaves make it a really pretty plant to grow.

This is always the most difficult part of a grow for me. Do I harvest the King Tut and mystery plant now? Wait a week? Or have I waited too long? Either way the plants are doing well. No major issues and pest damage is a non-issue this year.

Hey :-) Look with a microscope 👌If the trichome heads are about 70% milky and 30% clear, you can start with the flush. If the trichomes are about 70% milky and 30% amber, it is a very good time to harvest 👍🙏🏻 but do not pay attention to the leaves of the trichomes on the buds 👍

Hi there, take a magnifying glass and look at the trichomes (the white little "mushrooms" that started growing on the buds and leaves around mid-flowering). Remember that the type of high depends not only on the strain, but also on the state of the trichomes.. the main question you should ask yourself is "what kind of high" do you like? Should it be more of an "active" head high for during the day, or more of a "body high" which pushes you into the couch and makes you sleep well? Once you know that, you should look at the strain you're growing.. If the plant you grow is a pure indica, the standard high will lock you more into the couch by default, while a pure sativa would give you more of a head-high (the basic sativa-indica difference) when harvested at the same time, but then of course there are still a lot of hybrids in between. This is just a general rule, but it also depends on time of harvest. When it comes to trichomes you know they go from clear to milky and then to amber.. In general if the plant one is an indica-heavy plant (so more of a couch-lock), if you want a head-high, you'd be best off harvesting when a bit over half are still clear, and half are milky.. If you want a body high, then most should be milky and some amber. If 20 or 30% or more of them are amber, it'll just be definitely in the body-high area, pushing you into the couch (and as always, don't wait too long or they'll fall off the plant). In comparison if this were a sativa, then even even when the trichomes are full milky it should still give you more of a head-high, and to get more of a body-high effect you'd need to wait until there are a lot of amber trichomes. The hybrids are obviously somewhere in between.. So it's basically up to you, what you prefer and the type of strain you grow, but definitely keep the trichomes in check. don't go after the color of the stigmas (what people refer to pistils). While his eyes may be better than ours, I'm not sure if Sinatra could assist with making this choice, but it might be worth a try to ask him ;) (knowing how cats can be, he might give a wrong answer though :P)
