Starting one of my favourite strains - White Widow. Everyone needs to grow this once. This particular version is Crop King Seeds. I did not take this clone, it was a gift, but its mother is likely the same source as White Widow Clone 2019 (II); or, White Widow Clone 2019 (II) is the third’s mother. Isn’t cloning fun? Both clones came from the same friend. Genetics are Original White Widow.
I have transplanted into a container that has a mix of 10 parts HP Pro Mix: 5 parts worm castings: 1 part Fox Farm Happy Frog soil. I side and top filled with just straight HP.
My lighting is a 300 watt full spectrum LED with a smaller pod that is 1/6th. The tent is hung mylar in an unfinished basement, with direct furnace input and output ventilation in summer.
This is day 34 since being cloned. I love White Widow! One of my favs 🤙🏻
Day 41 since White Widow was cloned. Adjusting to its new surroundings, it is progressing. I just keep giving time and a little bit of water. Unlike some of my other grows, no temperature issues because it was nestled amongst my container-sharing mega beauties. I expect steady growth so just stay tuned. (As I always say, I love the Widow leaf shape)
Day 48 for White Widow. Its getting moved all over the place but has finally found a home on the shelf for this week. The stems are way too purple, and its deficient, but it may be root temperature absorption issues. Its still not in too rough of shape and is just in the regular rotation. I’m not worried. Just giving water.
Day 55 since White Widow was cloned. Rough week. The slightly red stems/branches last update indicated a soon to be rapidly advancing deficiency or imbalance. I ended up going on vacation this week and I was too nervous to feed without being around in case of needed flush. So, the symptoms worsened. I haven’t been able to transplant because of space issues, clearly. I fed 18-18-21 Miracle Grow Tomato food, Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag), and Earth Alive Big Blue Wave when I got back to my home. If this helped or hindered, I won’t know for a few days. The first group shot is before this week’s defoliation.
Day 62 since cloning White Widow. This one had quickly developed problems, and I applied plant food. It didn’t necessarily fix it, but there was some movement of green. In general, the best way to fix this is to transplant - which I did. I actually expect this one to look very bad for awhile. It was already imbalanced and now has even more food. But, I expect over time it will achieve balance. Be patient.
I have had major soil amendment problems late in flower so I have diluted the mix a bit. I also have filled the bottom with just HP Pro Mix, and only side filled with amendment. 40 HP Pro Mix: 5 Fox Farms Happy Frog: 5 worm castings: 1 ASB Greenworld Sheep Manure Compost: 1 ASB Greenworld Black Earth: 1 ETI Greenhouse Gold Seafood Compost: 1 Blood and Bonemeal pellets: 1 Green Gaia mineralized phosphate (guano): 1 alfalfa meal compost: 1 pulverized egg shells.
Day 69 since White Widow was cloned. The transplant has helped and the slow recovery should indicate how damaged/imbalanced it was. You can see green, healthy foliage returning. I am trimming off the really damaged leaf over time. Just water as there is plenty of amendment in the soil. I can tell that spring is coming as my veg. temps are up.
Day 76 since White Widow was cloned. Wow! What leaf progress. Nice dark green now. I will cool it with food and try to gain some size and get some fade. I’ll will pluck a few clones if it can get bigger. Its such a rapid turn around I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet!
Day 83 since White Widow was cloned. Just giving water and allowing it to gain size and get some leaf fade. It clearly has reabsorbed a good amount of nutrients and seems balanced. Still unsure if I will flower it soon as sea of green style, or let it get even bigger. I have yet to take clones. The picture just before the group shot is post-defoliation this week.
Day 90 since White Widow was cloned. Everything is looking fine. Lots of prospective clones to take. I am noticing some leaf fade so this may work out perfectly to put into flower next weekend. Not much defoliation. Letting it really dry out before any irrigation.
Day 94 since White Widow was cloned. Some leaf fade coming on. The planned space has opened up and its time for flower. I have moved tents and this will be reflected next week. The plan would be water through stretch and then flowering food. I cleaned up the underbrush after photos. Sadly, no more room for clones. I can always nab a clone from my buddy, or even a seed as I think he still has some White Widow kicking around.
Day 103 since White Widow was cloned. One week of flowering complete, seven weeks to go. Just water as I won’t get into any food for another week. I have limited expectations as I see this strain, though fantastic, is bushy with thin straggly branches. Meaning, not great for sea of green style.
My flower tent is 6’ x 4’ hung mylar DIY with two 300 actual watt full spectrum LEDs with 96 watts of yellow LED supplementing the spectrum.
Day 110 for this White Widow clone. Two weeks of flowering complete, six weeks to go. Firstly, overarching limited expectations because White Widow isn’t the best suited for smaller plants. But I will say I am encouraged by the health of this individual plant. It seems to have vigor through stretch compared to other Widows I’ve had. I fed flower food for the first time, 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag).
Day 117 for White Widow. Three weeks of flowering complete, five weeks to go. I fed almost a full week ago, 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom, a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses, and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag). It went the full week and I gave water yesterday. It will get more food after it dries out a bit.
Day 124 for White Widow. Four weeks of flowering complete, four weeks to go. Typical for Widow, itty bitty buds with a musty/musky smell. Of course, the effects are worth it. This clone is quite small. I recently fed 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom, with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag).
Day 131 for White Widow. Five weeks of flowering complete, three weeks to go. Food will be coming up soon and with how quickly White Widow flies through flowering it will be the last feeding. Typical grow, small bunches buds, White Widow is bushy with a musky, must sort of smell.
Day 139 for White Widow. Six weeks of flowering complete, two to go. It won’t be much yield but the buds are sticky and musty, perfect white widow. I turned on my output ventilation this week and I can really see an increase in trichomes. I gave the last feeding early in the week, now awhile ago, 0-10-10 Alaska Morbloom with a popsicle stick dip of blackstrap molasses and Plant Prod MJ Spike (CalMag).
Day 145 for White Widow. Seven weeks of flowering complete. One week of flowering to go. Just giving water and flushing as this tiny plant finishes. Not alot of bud, and bunched, but strong musky/musty smell typical of White Widow. Lots of resin/trichomes.
This is White Widow by Crop King Seeds. Regardless of distributor, this is a classic favourite. Not my first time growing the Crop King version, and I am excited to eventually try other versions.
Knowing that Widow tends to just bunch buds in clumps, I decided to actually try out sea of green method too. It wasn’t even a bad iteration, but the bud formation isn’t very favorable. The genetics don’t naturally want to give you one main crown.
The smell and effects didn’t waver and came out as expected. So good! Coated in resin, sticky, musty/musky smelling classic White Widow. Really nice hybrid effect somewhere near the middle. Really good for mixing. I enjoy having the potency.
Still didn’t yield an over-the-top amount despite the success, and the bud is just sort of classic. I will likely take a little break from this strain for awhile, I didn’t clone this one.
A fine harvest with no issues. I have water for quite some time, was getting good leaf fade, and then gave some extra dark and then chop. I did cut White Widow a week early as I had some upgrades and it was worth moving things along.
Harvest process is wet trim, bud wash, and then hang. Bud wash is two parts: container of baking soda, lemon juice, water; container of water.
