Hawaiian Puff Clone 2020 (I)

This is Hawaiian Puff from Lucky 13 Seeds, another fabulous seed producer not “on” GrowDiaries. Be weary, Lucky 13 only sells regular seeds so an initial female selection needs to happen. This plant I received already cloned from a female mother, I have the best friends. Just a reminder, Hawaiian Puff is Blue Hawaiian x GodBud. Cold and environment struggles defined the first five weeks or so, this was documented for the whole tent. Eventually, new container, and spring temperatures got Puff growing and it became a large bush. I struggled top dressing and keeping it green but eventually did get it to flower in good shape. I wish I was into preventive pest treatment at that point, and I’ve been searching pictures to see if I can spot the instance of infestation. I’m not quite sure in hindsight if any pests are present in veg., but certainly week 18 when flower begins spider mites are there, you can see Puff touching other older plants. I no longer do a rotation for this very reason. A few weeks into flower I could see what was happening and tried to treat various plants with varying success. Hawaiian Puff was about 4/10 weeks done, I stripped all the foliage, lollipopped, and sprayed with ethyl alcohol moonshine. It seems this action sort of saved Hawaiian Puff in that there wasn’t much leaf matter for the mites to colonize, but because of the long flowering time this plant became a vector for other plants outbreaks, which were much worse. I also dropped in hundreds of lady bugs so that helped get the mass population numbers down. For the final week or two I just threw Puff outside into the Canadian Maritimes summer climate, with heavy rains disintegrating much of the silk webbing. So what happened? At the end of the road I heavily budwashed Hawaiian Puff and it turned out allright! Better than allright, it was actually really good. I know I know, how could I possibly give an 8/10 for a mite plant? Well, the yield could have been much worse, I had enough to give out samples. The smell was strong and clear, and the flavour as well. Its sort a strong must/musk that is very potent, it has a hint of diesel, but I’ll avoid choosing that little icon as not to draw you too far away from the main ‘punch you in the face’ herb and ganja smell. The flavour dominates most mixes, and its something that is desirable solo on its own. The effects are sativa, and strong. Just consistently getting to you after a few sessions, I found that over time it stood up to my tolerance. This strain was really frosty despite the circumstances, which tells me it has good potential. The crystal and texture, and flavours, really improved over time. I’m upset finishing it off. I don’t need to project a score, this was easily 8/10 in mited condition. I would expect future grows to easily top this. The clone taken from this plant turned into a massive bush, and isn’t covered in mites to my knowledge so you can check that out if you wish.
