DAY 7 - 21/02/20
So my devils brew pepper sprouted in the big pot and I think I’m gonna scrap the 2 tiny terracotta pots, they’re a nightmare and I just don’t have the time or strength to be caring for so many plants as much as I love them haha.
I’m quite happy with the devils brew pepper as it has germinated after 1 week compared to the cayenne pepper last time took 5 weeks to germinate.
I took some photos of the cayenne peppers from last grow as they are continuing to ripen up and dry around my house :) it’s surprising that the peppers on the plant while under intense light stay very dark in color even as they ripen up.
The peppers that were harvested from the plant early before they were ripe have ripened up with minimal room light and have developed lovely candy colors. They actually look like some sort of candy cane which looks beautiful!
Finally I mentioned a recipe which I cooked tonight and it’s not so much of a recipe just simple cooking...
So I made some chilli mince with fried chips -
Serves 2:
You will need:
Fresh potatoes - Roughly 6 potatoes.
low fat steak mince - 250g.
Half an onion - diced up.
Sweet chilli sauce - I think it’s dragon brand but any good chilli sauce will do.
A few chillis - about 2-3 or you can use hot chilli sauce if you haven’t grown any chillis yet and still want to try it out!
A small bowl of grated cheese. (optional)
COOKING THE CHIPS:
Blanch the chips if you want (I find this is better but not necessary)
Fry your chips in the deep fryer while you cook the mince, they should be done at the same time.
COOKING THE MINCE:
I heated up a pan with a touch of oil and browned the mince.
drained the fat out well and then back into the pan with your onion and the chilli (if using chilli sauce instead add it later)
Cook almost fully then add enough sweet chilli sauce so it’s saucy and a little salt (add your chilli sauce now too if not using fresh/dried chillis)
Once the mince is fully cooked take it off the heat and drain your fried chips.
Add chips to the plate along with cheese if you like and then put your mince on top and there you go, nice spicy well cooked homemade dinner with mostly fresh ingredients :)
if you do use Fresh chillis there will be so much nutrients in your meal and damn it tastes good!
Anyways I highly recommend trying this at least once and I hope someone enjoyed it! Let me know in the comments folks :)
😜not yet, but it's coming..
For sure some kind of peppers and tomatoes...
Thx 4 the recipe!!
Have a good one and good luck for your Veggie-Projects😜✌️✌️
I already have the seeds for the peppers since a couple of weeks now. But I'm planning to grow mine simultaneously with my next growth which will start in two weeks from now.
So are you planning on smoking them 😅 I bet they will be smoking hot, with some peppery scent to it :D
