Giving a very light fertilizer every couple waterings of some Neptune's harvest I had under my sink while waiting for my order of Mega Crop to arrive. Struggling with low humidity around 40%, I got a small atomizing humidifier to try to keep it higher and am trying different ventilation methods to minimize air exchange but to still allow enough cooling from the light. Based on short height, light color, and scrunchy leaf growth at the end of day 4, I'm worried my light is too low at 9", so I raised it back up to 12" or so.
Meanwhile I've hydrated, rinsed, and strained a brick of coco coir and am soaking in two buffer solutions of CalMag for 8 hours each according to the directions from Coco For Cannabis. I'll mix some perlite in an transplant into a small fabric pot shortly.
A shorter height sativa, but is it looking good so far? I noticed the tips of the 2nd node leaves getting a bit brown today, but I think its because I let it get too dry. Side root growth is lacking, but 2 long are out the of the bottom. Color is doing better after some adjusts
Yes it looks good if a bit over watered. Also increase the light to canopy distance. Go easier on the water and increase the light distance and it will go even better.
Day 30 - Started getting home higher humidity levels with rainy and warmer weather, so ordered a dehumidifier and humidistat. In the meantime set the cool temp threshold to 1 degree over set point to have the exhaust fan cycle more. Started the rinse and buffer process for another brick of coco coir to ensure I have enough for repotting in the next day or two into a 3 gallon pot. Also ordered netting to be ready for scrog training. Probably getting close to being ready to top it. Currently fertigating every other morning with about 1/3 gallon of ph-ed water with 4g of mega crop per gallon.
Day 35 - Went ahead and topped as is getting to about 10" and I've got a very small grow tent at 2x2x4' so want to get some more spread going before I put in the scrog net
Repotted to 3 gallon fabric pot and started including some flowering feed and increased veg feed in order to get EC up. Currently feeding about 5-6 grams of mega crop per gallon with 1 gram of Sweet candy. Put in an oscillating fan with a voltage/speed reducer so it doesn't blow to strong.
Do you typically want to lower your lighting when you switch to 12/12?
I'm a little confused about what is meant when they say to have a 12" light distance for flowering and 18" for veg. Does that mean lower to 12" at the switch to 12/12, or just maintain a min 12" distance?
Hi @sativa_lover yes you have to lower your lighting when you switch to 12/12. But the distance of the lamp depends on the power of the Led and varies from brand to brand, you must see the recommended distances on the manufacturer's website or store. good luck mate 👍
Have been watering every other day since it seems to need less water with the decrease in light hours. Struggling a little with high humidity at night so moved dehumidifier to inside tent instead of just outside it in the storm shelter. Starting to do a little more pruning about every other day.
About every other day: pruning to prevent too much leaf density any where and repositioning the tops in the scrog net in order to keep height in check and spacing good. Still watering every other day.
Seeing good growth on all the bud sites, and the adjacent leaves are starting to get a frosting of tricomes. Humidity at night has been getting higher than I'd like.. up to 75-80%, but fortunately the temp hasn't been getting anywhere low enough to reach dew point. Still though for future grows in tents I'll probably try to get an exhaust fan with a combined temp and humidity controller. Once it gets a little hotter in my garage I'll probably just run the exhaust fan 24/7 since it doesn't get hot enough at night for the temp controller to kick it on and clear the moist air out. I'm kind of annoyed more dual sensor controllers are more readily available.
Running exhaust fan 24/7 and night humidity has been staying in range better. It has started consuming more water at this point so I've been giving it around .5 gallons a day. I increased the nutrient levels to late flowering amounts: went to 6g per gallon of megacrop and 1.5g per gallon of bud explosion. I'm maintaining 2 ml per gallon of calimagic.
Not a whole lot new to report this week. Garage temp has been getting at little warmer than I'd want some days which has been getting the grow tent temp up to 81 or 82, so I'm hoping the flowering stage will wrap up in another week or so before the real summer heat starts moving in
I got a magnifier to check the trichomes and they still look mostly clear. I have some phed water on standby when I start seeing mostly all cloudy to start flushing.
Went ahead and harvested after 3 days of flushing with ph-ed water since some of the tips of the sugar leaves started turning yellow. I moved my tent into my house for drying since the temp and humidity in my garage is getting too high. I set a humidity controller on my exhaust fan to maintain 58 percent humidity for drying.
The strain seems very tolerant to temperature and humidity variations. I haven't grown any other strains yet, but this thing puts out prolific amounts of dense veg. I spend a lot of time trimming every week, harvesting took quite a while as did the dry trim before jarring for the cure. The aroma before and after drying is amazing. Exactly what I like.
I got 65g of well trimmed bud, and I included the 42g of trim because it's all potent popcorn nugs and sugar leaves with dense tricomes. I'm planning to turn it into bubble hash in the next couple days. Total dry time was 10 days at 58-61 percent humidity and an average of 75 degrees F.
