I popped the seedlings in a glass of water and planted them this morning. These are just some random bag seeds so I have 5 that I'm attempting to grow in the hopes that 2 or 3 will be females. Since this is my first grow, I know mistakes will be made, but the best I can hope for is to learn from them and move on.
4/7: Two seeds have sprouted! I was trying with the random bag seed, but they haven't taken so I popped 3 seeds I bought. I expect the third to show up today since it was a little late to the party. I always name my plants so they will be Phillis, Cora, and Thea. Phillis and Cora have both sprouted and I can see Thea's stem trying to poke through.
I have a small humidifier coming because I can't get the humidity up above about 40% in the box with the dehumidifier in the room running. The best one I could get only runs 6hrs max, but that just means I can check on the ladies more often. On the advice of the internet, I've been spraying the plants down as the soil dries out with water of a pH around 6.
4/16: I think I overwatered them so I've cut back and the new leaves are looking good. I'm waiting for the soil to dry out more before I water them next. Thea is a little behind her sisters, but she was the one who was late to start. From what I've read, I don't need to start feeding them until week 4 as they were started in Fox Farm's Ocean Forest. So in 2 weeks I'll start the feeding schedule. From everything I've read, it's good to put in half what the chart recommends every other watering. Hopefully I can get a good watering schedule figured out. The humidifier has helped get the humidity up to around 60%.
4/23: The girls are looking amazing! They have just a hint of smell. The new leaves are looking great with no new signs of overwatering. They're 21 days old from germination. I will see about when I need to top them. I know that most people suggest at 5-6 nodes and down to above the 3rd node. Having the humidity up has made them happy.
4/28: Watered the girls. (posting here so I remember)
4/29: Topped all 3 to just above the 3rd node. They're doing well and growing happily. I haven't ran into any more issues thankfully.
4/30: I topped and started lst with the girls. I probably should have started training them earlier, but better late than never. I should have taken pictures when I first did the lst because it really opened up the canopy and they're bushing out quite nicely.
5/8: The girls have really bushed out. I did lst with today which really opened the canopy. I'll post pictures tomorrow too after their leaves have turned up because I'm interested to see pictures of the difference.
5/16: It's a girl! At least Cora is and if 1 out of 3 is female, I'll be happy. The other two don't have pre-flowers yet, but I'll keep posting. I went out of town, so I'm posting a couple days late. The girls are quite big now and are starting to get a bit crowded. I think I might just do 2 plants with my next grow.
@neonnitelight, I went through the whole home made grow box thing. It was tough to control the heat and humidity even when running an exhaust fan. You can use a cool mist humidifier and put it near your fresh air in take. I eventually switched to using a grow tent because the box I built held too much heat. The thin walls on the tent allowed it to cool down better.
