First indoor grow.
My aim with this grow is to keep it as simple and low tech as possible. As a baseline I want to see what is achievable with compost and LED.
I will periodically PH check my runoff but that's about as scientific as I aim to go - unless I run into issues.
No nutrient program - Unless I spot deficiencies. I'll add the odd bit of molasses for the compost.
Transferred to 56L fabric pot.
Roughly 20% Composted Manure, 20% Verm, 60% Organic Compost - levington
Aware of temperature issues to added a heater to the tent
Managed to snap the top during LST - doh
Having to defoliate quite a lot.
Still very short.
Aware that airflow needs to improve around plant.
First pistils popped out towards end of week.
Added a second fan to the tent (the other is above the LED) which has eliminated the moisture trapped between leaves.
Doesn't seem to have been overly affected by my sloppy snapping of the main stem.
Defoliating most days
No obvious sign of deficiency
Vertical growth taking off this week - though still a very short plant.
Some slightly burnt tips on new growth at top of plant - possibly light stress?
Generally plant seems ok - Still a continuous regime of defoliation and LST.
Loads of bud sites - wasn't sure whether to leave them be or remove some. I have pulled off a couple that were heavily buried and will see how the others progress for now.
Should I be concerned about a lack of smell at this stage?! - not the its odourless, but certainly not strong. Perhaps due to fairly low temps?
Seems to be doing ok. I've knocked the light off for an extra hour as the plant was getting pretty droopy 2-3 hours prior to lights out but always bouncing back fully at lights on.
Still just on plain water (with the occasional molasses) to get a baseline on yield and potential deficiencies from soil only.
Defoliation to expose buds and allow airflow is a daily chore.
Relatively straightforward week. Had to spend a fair bit of time defoliation and trying to open out the center but no signs of drama or deficiency.
Flowering nicely.
Still no added nutes or anything fancy - just trying to see what a bag of compost and an led can achieve, the next grow I'll try the nutes and see what difference there is
Seems ok still. Fan leaves starting to go now.
Will grow this again next and try to do a better job with training now that I understand how it grows and reacts to defoliation etc..
Glad not to have to defoliate so much anymore.
I'm guessing this is the final week.
Most lower fan leaves have fully died off. Trichomes mostly milky on upper buds.
The aim of this grow (my first with tent and proper light) was too see what could be achieved with minimal outlay and stress. I used a 56l pot with compost, manure and verm mix and stuck it in a cheap tent with the 100w led. I used no additional nutrients, meters, extraction, c02 etc.. I did check the runoff pH from time to time with my aquarium test kit and fortunately it was always in range.
In all honesty, I think I'll do similar again but perhaps add some nutes during flowering as I think the soil was spent by the end of the grow. The plant itself took a bit of effort with daily defoliation due to its short size and leaf density but it handled it (and an accidental top snapping) without any signs of stress. It seems any concerns about defoliating or topping autos aren't relevant to this strain. The plant stayed very short so ideal for anyone with height constraints. I'll update again in a couple of months after giving it a toot. I was glad to have Interalia666's diary as comparison, it is clear to see from yeilds that the kit and the nutes make a big difference. Hope the comparison serves as good reference for others. Cheers
