Light - I didn't check the light directions and had the sprouts at 18' should have been 24-30' the par map looks decent at the corners, so I'm thinking its enough light in the correct spectrum, but what do I know. It's my first time using a light and third time growing. More on light - The umols at a certain height and how it dissipates sort of guided me to a 2 x 2 box to make that light power dense. At 1000w it's more like a 500w light anyway plus light loss, so its more like a 250w light drawing 100w. I have to freshen up on light, but I think that's the way it works. If I can understand where the sweet spot on that light is, I'll be more confident to SOG or SCROG. My fans are tight, I'll look up what they are, but they have good batteries. Its too cold to use them, but when I do, I have them. Weather - cold, unsuitable to start anything outside. Not even reaching 60f Soil - I am definitely not use to it. MG Organic Bounty. Bottom half amended top half straight from bag. It's so finely composted I cant tell if I need to water , if its retaining enough water, or if its over watered. Drains quite well, dries fast. for the money I paid for it, it better pimp my plants. I'm spritzing 200ml every other day. Amended ingredients and measures CONT. Week 2

Week 2 lights cont. Light - I wanna write this down somewhere because its the 5th time I've referred back to my research notes when buying a light, so bear with me. PPF Photosynthic photon flux = intensity or how much the light emits. 4 x 4 space 1100umols 1500 tops 30 watts per square foot 3 x 3 * 50 watts = 450 watts minimum (not draw watts, but swap watts) PAR Photosynthic Active Radiation PPFD Photosynthic photon flux density. the average PPFD, or distribution of light is very important PAR Chart shows the density 18h veg stage need about 300-600 PPFD 12h flowering need about 600-1000 PPFD Spectrum Targeted and Broad Targeted = photsynthically efficient 1st gen of lights Broad - White Light blue better for veg red diodes better for flower Light intensity and the ratio of red to blue light during flower will determine yield. ex. 4k 1/1 ratio of blue/red = smaller yield and better quality. 3k 1 to 2 ratio of blue to red = higher yields and lessor quality. Wattage 2.5 umol 500w = ppf 1250 2.0 umol 600w = ppf 1140 to fiqure out efficiency of the light. A formula is out there somewhere. Use smaller lights rather than one big one as LED does not disburse well. Placement is more important. Blue 440-470nm red 640-650 UV is a supercharger 315-400 range 4000k range = balanced 6"1 5:1 red to blue Ratio ideal to boost yield 2:1 1:1 red to blue stout, resin production wattage/space/coverage area 3 x 3 288 watts 2 x 2 123 watts 4 x 4 512 watts This should be draw watts 3w bead is efficient 5w 10w double chip in terms of wattage efficiency, bigger is not always better. I wasn't just about to go out and buy a name, or you can come from the school of "you get what you pay for". What is a cob? chip on board which does what? increase light …..density? So long as the spectrum is correct and the byproduct of heat doesn't come off the light, and its ul listed... it's my belief that you can make something grow and grow well. Or if you see weed plants in the ebay picture you're probably gonna be ok, but if you look at and understand the specs, it will be a light you can work with. fans, I use 2 of these lemoistar fans speed 2 and they are horses, 2 because I rotate them to charge. soil amends CONT. week 3

Soil - Top half is straight MG Organic Bounty Bottom half is amended When looking at soil, it's more approach and adjust rather than one magic formula. So, the first thing I thought about was what does a weed plant actually need? N P K Ca Mg Su Sl Ir Trace So then I fiqured out how to read the back of boxes and soil bags. Then lo and behold I was reading what ingredients did what. What the hell, fungal populations and beneficial bacteria? Humic acid? W T F So, anyway the short of it here is a recipe. 16 cups = 1 Gal 3 TSP = 1 TBSP 5ml = 1/2 a 1/4 TSP you get it. DTE Starter mix 3-3-3 has su Mykos Azos Oyster shell flour Ca Crab meal Superfood Kelp meal Humic Acid Budswell Phosporus Azomite Trace Worm crap Vermeculite MG perlite looks like those are all slow release Schedule feed Keloggs Kelp 2-2-2 Boosters Big bud or Humboldts Secret (both are just amino acids) Energy for flower. I would buy funky fungi, But the above list and its portions are on the back of the boxes mostly. The starter box is probably enough, Also, there are many other ways to get to the requirements and probably better or cheaper. Since I live on the coast, a lot of it is marine based less fish bone meal or fish meal. My Goal: hmmm To get 4 sets by end of week 4 and about 6-8in before scretch. I moved the light to 22'-24' should still be in sweet zone to start week three in hopes of getting more height. So height and bush, I want a lot of veg, what I get is what I get I'll be happy about it. Basically, the plant cant take up in ratio, its other requirements more than the least present required element. I read that somewhere. All of the above is just what I believe, but its beliefs based on reading other information and not because it worked one time.

Here is the order of importance for the nutrients Ca 10 N 3.55 K 3.8 Si 3.7 Mg .87 Phos .41 Sul .17 Trace Ir etc. (Dynagrow youtube interview) of what was the percentage of dry weight a plethora of plants had in them when tested. This helps understand toxicity/deficiency in that you don't want one element blocking another element in this order of importance. ( I think). Anyway DTE Crab Meal has 14% Ca DTE Starter mix 2% sul Dolemite lime same as oyster shell flour for ph,, as well as ca mg source. Watering: This MG Organic bounty is really porous, goes through fast, so 200ml is too much Lights 22' for the tops 1/2 centered until I get my other light, last night they started to scretch, so about 2 inches vertical, with fan, in the box, i'd say 55-58f but at least fresh air on the bottom of the pots.. I haven't seen 65-70f since last year, 60 would be nice. Plan of Action: Don't kill the plants. Add as much veg as possible now. Major watering is due, topper of crab meal kelp meal humic acid and mykos, then azos, then HS flower stacker then 2-2-2 kelp feed to frost it. Or I can just let the plants tell me what they want. Important week ahead to see what I need to do. Not gonna LST but rather let the auto grow as intended, I fiqure the genetic engineers fiqured all that out already with autos.

Day 31 on its 5th set or 6th. Finally got some sun. Major water yesterday about 300-400ml. no nutes, just 6.5.6.8 ph water. Plants look fed anyway. If going into flower, the plants look deficient or starved, ill kelp meal feed them as well as big bud them or Humboldt flower stacker them. I don't know yet. I just want to get these 2 to harvest without having to think about them and trouble shoot them, that's my goal and hopefully I'll get that last growth spurt at the end to give some weight.. will update this week in a few days. Definite into veg strong, They will scretch now but I wont LST. What else... Day 34 End of 5 weeks, I think it might be starting to flower soon, I better water them too. I think these will look like little Christmas trees, but if I can make them a bush, it'll be nice. Now is the time it gets interesting as to what to do because I don't know. I'll wait until the plants tell me they're starving, but I'll stick to plan and introduce flower stacker into the feed. Maybe big bud. But if I do that, I'll want to feed my soil too. Either I'll add more crab meal, or the liquid kelp. I'll fiqure it out.

Scretching pretty good, I had to drop my floor. Still no nutes, ph water around 6.8 6.9 200ml today, yesterday major water at around 700-800ml no runoff. I'll continue 200ml a day whereas it was every other day before. Weather ahead to be sunny, so more hardening for the upcoming week. Sun is best, plus 60 65f where earlier weeks were mid to low 50s. Starting to flower? I see white hairs, but all I know is that they aren't telling me they need anything right now. I'll look at the stem and leaves but I think they are ok. I think in a week 10 days, I'll have trees or 2 little shrubs but around 2 ft, that would be my guess.

Day 49 and I nuted after I saw budlets and I fiqure scretch was maybe slowing. I kinda water by pot weight, so around 500ml does it for me. The weather has been maritime the last few days and will be for another couple days, with it windy. I'll get a bit of heat by Tuesday. I'm looking for the plants to cannibalize a little and show some yellowing of the bottom leaves. Researching why I would want to reduce the light cycle in terms of the dark cycle using the sugars and how big the plant needs to be to feed itself... I don't know, maybe there is a balance to it? So, all this stuff I was supposed to learn in high school but was out getting high? I have to learn it on my own now. Its better than going out and buying a whole bunch of stuff and not knowing what its used for. In other words, a lot more research and learning for me.

I guess they look ok The wind has been an afternoon issue but at least the sun is out, I'll try to get the plants 10-2 for the sun if its there because that's a good angle. Inspection of the plants show a little nute tips, they are drinking about 500ml a day, at least that's what I'm drenching them with for a nice heavy pot feel, no bottom drainage to speak of. leaf stems show a little color, main stem isn't showing stress or color. I thought the black pot was faster than the green one but the green one transitioned to flower faster than the black one. The black one looks like it still wants to veg judging by the reach of the top leaves in the sun. I don't know, it just looks like the leaves are really reaching more so than the green pot top leaves reaching as much. The tops have a glow of gold trichomes dusting the leaves. Or maybe it is from the big ass bumble bee that hangs around my yard, but all the bud tops have them, or at least they did when I took the pics. Didn't quite look today. I'm lookin to the sky to see what the wind tells me today. It's telling me to relax until Saturday. I bought a half at the dispensary for 65 bucks, 21% and a 1/4 for 60 29% You cant grow it cheaper than that but growing is a lot more fun. I just need a more comfortable lawn chair to sit in all day.

Things look ok to me. I started bottom watering a few days ago and it seems to work fine. The black pot has complete bud formation and secondary pistols coming. The green pot has snowballs and no orange pistols. Still no color on the stem, just a few purple leaf stems. I'm looking for stress and cannibalizing, and that aint happening. Maybe a yellow leaf or 2, but that tells me the soil has enough in it or the plant is feeding itself well enough Both plants only have slight blemishes. Like leaf hopper bite marks. I killed 2 of those bastards last month. I'm also looking at pests, none so far, maybe a gnat or 2 but no infestations. Gnats can happen while dialing in the watering, they drink a lot and its easy to forget and water twice. Both plants are easily drinking 500ml. Nuting with flower stacker at .5ml per 500ml ph water and that's it. The terpenes aren't escaping yet. neither are the trichomes. Actually, they are starting to frost a little, but I'm think the arrival of some 70f days all sun will release the terps a bit more.

I forget which is which for pics, but I'm at the stage where the 1st pistols turned orange then a 2nd set of pistols forms, that's on the purple plant, on the snowball plant, the buds are completing formation and are turning orange, but I don't know if they are gonna pop more pistols. When to harvest, A) well, day 71 was Sunday, so the breeder info says 77 days, B) Weather is heat waving the next 3 or 4 days 70-80f, they been living in 60f C) moon phase is in 1st quarter, you know, dark night, sugars D) Wait for more pistol pops like a 3rd one, E) smell it ,they aren't losing much terpenes at all, I smell them when I walk by, noticeable. They waif green and skunkish, each day getting stronger. I guess I'll see on Saturday to see if I wanna chop them or let them go another week. The plants are big enough that they are feeding themselves, not cannibalizing for N. One day I got color in the pistols and by the end of the day they are covered, no color, also the red stem of leaves are white again. No stress at all. Watering about 500ml 2 times, they are not slowing down. bottom feed and they both suck up 500ml in maybe 30 min or less, a shift later, they are semi light again when I lift them. How do you flush if you bottom water and use just ph water? I don't know, but they been mostly sucking up water, no toppers, only the aminos, So I'm thinking the last amino nute was Friday, they getting lots of water, I guess I can flush mon then thurs

Day 74 I noticed how the dark one filled decreased chlorophyll downward from the top and I'm wondering why. So I looked up what makes a plant color and its a genetic switch being switched on. Somehow, I don't know, mostly luck. Then, thinking about the meaning of phenotype: two of the same genotype experiencing different environments. I don't know if the strain is suppose to express purple all the time, I have not seen many pictures of NL #5 Auto in Black/Blue Purple on the internet. So, these are mine, and I like the colors lime and black on red and the tropical light lime, lavender that the lighter plant seems to be going to. I cant stop looking at the dark one. I'm a noob, what can I say. Also, who knows if I ever can get what I consider a nice phenotype on the dark one and perhaps the light one. Maybe it is not a pheno, but the regular look of the strain, either way they both smell super sweet tropical. If the light one expresses tropical, that would be nice looking. If the dark one gets more dark, with white frost, and pale stems and streaks of green, it'll look dam like Christmas time. Visually appetizing. My neighbors ain't getting any. They been eyeing my dank for a week, I sit in a lawn chair and wave at them. Thursday update: 2 pics weather change to maritime with a drastic cooldown. Please tell me I'm not crazy seeing what I see.

They are not ready yet, maybe a week I guess, I don't know. This is day 77 and harvest day from the breeder. So, I got time. The terpenes have are starting to escape. The past few weeks it smelled from vegetation/green and faint skunk for awhile, then past few days, the smell was... someone around here is smoking weed, to.... sweet tropical delicate. If I stick my head in close of my grow box and whiff, it is pleasant and light, but that terpene profile is the plant I want, in week, however, I will be a very different plant. So, basically I'm watching the watering, cause its gonna stall soon, also it's gonna pop and I'll know, that's my last indicator before I chop. A visual of the size of the buds, they will spurt 1 more time. pistols, not so much, so, I'm watching for those to turn inward. With a turn inward of the pistols, a great aroma emanating, the weather next 6 days, tropical. They will finish tropical not wintery is my guess. I wonder what the terpene profile would be like in a winter harvest? I would imagine heavy syrup sweet pine, that would be nice. Hope I get 60-80g per plant. With this grow, I gained more understanding of what's up, things becoming clearer. Day 80 Update, I'm gonna let them darken up, The smell is less green and more tropical. The skunk smell is a slight I kinda know its there but not there smell, but it's pleasant, desirable, light and fresh, sweet, just very pleasant

Thurs day 83 What I'm waiting for is the blossom stages of the pistols, I'm looking for three events, hence, all the top shots of new pistols, orange, then the folding in. This al occurs at the same time, so I kinda have to pay attention to what's going on. So, at this stage, I'm looking at the almost zero new white pistols, and all the orange pistols. The leaves that are dying is ok, the color change is loss of clhorapyhll and for the lime colored one nitrogen defeciency. The plant is cannibalizing for nutrients. As I have read. Just let those fall off. The smell is interesting, for the past several days, the aroma as you walk around 15 feet away has been sweet tropical faint, green veg, faint skunk. The overtone would always be faint skunk. I's walk by and think, who the hell is smoking weed? Or, the overtone would be sweet tropical fruit. Yesterday, that overtone was super strong weed, not skunk, not sweet fruit, just bam in your face strong strong weed. The terpenes are, I guess binding to release that profile, I don't know how all that works. Today, the overtone was weed again, but the floral fruit is very evident closer. Relative Humidity and weather in general, this week same pattern as last week, for light and temp, for rh last week was high, last week was tropical, This week a little nicer, finishing a bit cooler. They'll finish by then. I guess. Anyway, sat will be the end of week 12 and these are done. I just have to check them cause I don't know what I'm looking at, at this point. I'm expecting to see seed covers next, after the hairs quit coming, but I really have no clue. I'm thinking next, hope for colder days to concentrate the sugars for flavor, also to make the leaves darker. Those are just beliefs, All I really know is not to go out too far past peak harvest time. The dark one is a really pheno, indica dominant, the lighter one smells good too, that one is a little bit later. watering, watch for overwatering, the plants will uptake it, but will transpire it out the leaves if you water too much. I'm down to 400ml on the dark one, the light one is about 800ml still so it hasn't slowed down. the reason you don't want too much water is mold, white powder mold is a bitch cause that's a time eater looking for it, but that's part of it,, Bugs? I saw a ladybug. I was lucky I had a mantis in my early plant stages, I think the bug at any critters in the underside world of the leaf. the ladybug has been a residence for a while now. No bugs, no eggs, no white flies, no inch worms no leaf hoppers. I grinded the heads of 4 leaf hoppers the entire grow. Those are the little dots you see on your leaves, bite marks. Hence the chitin in oyster shell flour and crab shell. That's the natural insect eckoskeleton destroyer. Also the watering amount, more water means a environment for gnats, you don't want gnats. dry soil quick dry, something that doesn't sop. I'll load other pics later,

I took them down, it seemed time, the full moon was there, the weather was cool, another set of hot days coming I did not want, the pistols all formed, the buds filled in, 8 days later then the breeder date, the pigment loss/or nitrogen deficiency, the smell, so now I'm waiting to see if any weight came I. I was expecting about 60g at the start, after chop, I was thinking 100g, but now they shrunk. I'll just have to wait and see. One plant I chopped at night, stiff, the other I chopped in the morning, soft. If the plant function is working and the sugars are abundant, I don't know if that's a belief in that sugars are stored in the flowers at night or that buds form at night or how that all works when all the chlorapyhll is gone from the leaves to make the sugars. I didn't defoliate, I need to see the green go out of the plant as an indicator of what she is doing. I think this grow felt early, while being at 85 days and the in-between of the flowers filling in, I just wanted to chop them fearing the terpene profile would change. It did not, its still heavy floral dank weed, pure and intoxicatingly strong. It's clear a rotation of plants from just 2 lights will decrease potential if more than 2 or 3, as well as the flower/sprout co existence under the lights, there is no room, plants wont flourish if they don't have room. So, it'll be 2 or 3 at a time until I fiqure something out. Not all grows will be successful as well, I need enough to last until next harvest, so I'm on my way to fiquring all that out too. My formula to avoid the dispensary is this: Grow enough to get to the next crop. So if I'm smoking 2.5 ounces a month, 1/4 a week for 5 weeks x two people and neighbors. That means 75 grams out of 2 plants every month. So three ounces doesn't get you very far. so 2 plants 6 ounces doesn't seem to be enough to get me to the next harvest. 28 grams is an ounce, so 30 grams I need more lights. If I want a consistent rotation, I'll have to dedicate a light to a plant, rather than assembly line growing, I'm not gonna always grow a 75g plant. I need proper genetics: my flower time should be short short. so, a compromise between fast, yield, flavor, potency and geographic compatibility. I'll pick the right seeds, or I can get NL5 again, its proper.

I knew we weren't done. After I chopped and dried about 6 days, I jarred the buds and they are keeping structure. Burping about 30 min a day. My job now is to become a better patient and try to identify the terpenes that effect me in a good way by comparing to like type weed that I have currently. Bud is 3 days jar cured and darkening. The smell is veg, this means I'm hardly losing a lot of terpenes in handling. The smell when crushed is myrcene I want to say? let me describe instead. When chrushed into a bowl, the massive smell is floral and sweet. Taste, The first hit is harsh, best to exhale it, then hit. Tastes ok, bordering on ..is this gonna get nasty? to pungent forest berries, after taste is sweet forever. Draw is smooth, no cough. So sweet for so long on the after taste. Pitch doesn't get nasty, it stays sweet. Ash is white then gray then black, ash expel is fluffy. The burn and inhale is better than Humboldt naturals, far superior to city dispensary weed taste is inferior to Humboldt naturals, mine is wilder berry unusual but pleasant pyshcoactive is awake, not sedative at all A very pleasant smoke that doesn't tear you down, and gets you cruising at a good level.

Heavy for a 2 foot plant. This is purple bud from White label. I think its a true F1. Very Stoney, great sandalwood flavor and smokes like hash. Zero harshness and regal. And that was only a 6 day dry not cured yet. The 2 other plants were column, one yielded 15g and the other is still up. That will yield maybe 30g. I was talking to a breeder the other day, and the conversation was about 6 foot plants, she was saying if I'm gonna use 3 gallon pots, I'm gonna get 2 feet plants. She was not listening to what I needed and if she had a line of genetics I wanted. Bottom line, her method is not the only method to get to where you need to get. Between beliefs and facts there was no distinction in her logic. My climate and environment is unique to me, not her specific climate. So, i'm not getting seeds from them. At a time where I'm forming my belief system, tearing down beliefs, rebuilding beliefs. I'm not about to just follow. I learned a lot about watering. sYmbiotic relationships, and a little about bees. You learn things about auxins, and terpenes, and the relationships within your entire garden, but let me get to a bee story. About two weeks ago a swarm appeared, rised, and flew off. If you ever saw one, you'd freak out. No worries, they are full of honey and docile when they swarm, it's important to report where they land however. I bring this up, because bees where visiting my NL plants everyday. The NL plants tastes like sweet tropical fruit and deep forest berry and rich wood. My belief, is that those bees contributed to the flavor from the first bee colony. When my Purple bud plants were outside, bees visited them too, but a new colony. I'm hoping this late in the spring they have enough to cross pollenate my purple buds to something good. Currently, my taste test made me very happy. This grow was about survival, I could not fail. It's funny how decision points are that much more magnified, and hoping what you decided to do works out. I'll get through summer, and I'll start up again real soon when I get my seeds, with a solid track record to build upon. What I was worried about most, not being able to afford dispensary weed and not having anything at all, was staring at me. Luckily, the dispensary has a compassion program where I can get weed for $1, its there if I need it. There are plenty of reasons to grow, and like everybody else, I have my reasons too, but probably the best reason is I miss my mom. Before she passed, she said I could grow weed if I wanted, it's legal now. She knew it was in my heart. to do.

I got enough for awhile. I was looking at some of these state laws and they are pretty strict. Nevada, you can't grow within 25 miles of a legal dispensary. You can only smoke on private property, If you're a property owner and allow it, smoking, growing, etc, you can be fined. You can only grow in a locked room. This is from the only state I know that has legal brothels and gambling. Basically the city said people can only smoke weed from the balconies of the Cosmopolitan. If you ever smoked dispensary weed, you know it's not quite right. Plus, it costs money. What educational benefit can one gain from purchasing weed? At least when you grow, you gain self esteem. You open your mind to knowledge that interests you, you're rewarded for your efforts, and most importantly, you know what you grew your weed with. I will not be romanticized by slick packaging and fancy logos. I reap what I sow, and to not be allowed to do that, it's sort of mind boggling. In a state so un-diverse in it's economy, you would think they would want to expand industry. How does freedom for citizens effect tourism tax dollars from dispensaries? It doesn't, locals should be allowed to grow because dispensaries costs money! So, in weighing the benefits of growing your own versus buying from a dispensary, I think you gain more as I stated above. I want to be legal without fear of penalty and after reading the Nevada laws, it really really bothered me. I hope all of you that looked at the pics enjoyed them, and I will be starting another grow when I get my seeds. I am going to expand out to 400 watts draw 4 lights, 2 seperate 2 x x 4 grow boxes or similar condensed space. I got the flavor, and about 7 oz. of NL5 and purple bud, I feel like I have achieved.
