One of my 3 first new grows after a longer than anticipated involuntary break from growing.
I'm growing two strains that are very similar if not pretty much the same in theory, OG Kush crossed back into GSC, one from Zambeza and the other from Barney's Farm.
I germinated 3 of the Zambeza seeds, all germinated fine, but I lost the 3rd seedling shortly after it broke surface - to low humidity, I assume, which is why the dome came on for the remaining ones, #1 and #2, at least for now. #4, now the 3rd plant, is Barney's.
Days are being counted for #4, Barney's.
The medium in the starters is coco coir moistened with a diluted Kelp, Alfalfa & worm poop tea.
Growth has been slow but picking up the last few days thanks to environment being dialled in better. They were more than a bit dry the previous week which stunted their progress.
Also needed a bit of additional magnesium, which they got in the shape of some epsom salts in their feeding yesterday - the new growth is already looking a bit greener today.
Growth has finally picked up, they were really struggling for most of the first two weeks - now they seem much happier and are growing at a decent pace.
Barney's on the right still seems the strongest of the three.
All three were FIMed (Barney's first, Zambezas 2 days later) this week.
Because they had a tough start they are going to get an additional week veg so that the side branches develop a bit more before the flip.
Last week of veg for these three. Due to slight differences in vigour they ended up with 4, 6, and 8 shoots, respectively. The Barney's Farm plant is the one with 8 shoots.
Because my current, rather scaled back grow op works in flowering cycles of 4 small plants every 3 weeks, and I lost one of the Zambeza plants to humidity issues in the beginning, I had to add a clone to this run to make up the numbers (it wasn't quite ready but will have 2 colas which is better than no colas at all).
Next week they will be flipped to bloom and harvested 8 weeks later.
First week after the flip, flower stretch has started. With new phenotypes the first three weeks are the critical bit - just how much height will they need etc. - normally I use clones and know exactly how much.
They're going to undergo some more ad-hoc defoliation over the coming weeks, but today I just removed some leaves from the centre of the Barney's Farm plant.
I also top-dressed with epsom salts again earlier this week, too - I'm hoping this resolves what looks like a magnesium deficiency.
After 2 weeks the stretch of the Zambeza is spot on for my space, whereas the Barney's hasn't stretched a lot at all - possibly should have restricted it to fewer tops. Their stretch period is not quite over yet, but I'm a week behind with these so they'll need to finish it in the red light tent next door with the June harvest.
The two Zambeza stretched some more this week (the Barney's didn't), but they are nearing the finish of that phase, at a near perfect height for my setup.
The Zambeza stretched some more this week but have finished now, I think - now for the ripening of buds etc.
Defoliated some more, but most of that was done last week.
I'm a bit gutted about this grow, they both turned out severely stunted. The grows before and after them all turned / are turning out fine, so I'm pretty sure I've done something wrong with them early on or maybe neither of them took well to the defoliation (although the Barney's didn't even stretch when flipped, so there's that too).
Oh well. Not every pheno run has a winner.
Now their Ghostie Haze companion is out of the way (last two days) you can see just how stunted the two Zambeza plants are as well, even though they stretched more than the Barney's. :(
