Seed planted in 10L Canna Coco Coir in fabric pot. Coir treated with GO BioWeed and inoculated with Dr. Marijane Root Probiotic. The pot was placed under 45w 6500K flourescent tube light in 2x2x4 grow tent and remained for first week after sprout from soil. First watering after planting was day 7 from sprout. White vinegar is used as PH down.
Day 1 - sprout from dirt, veg spectrum (45w)
Day 7 - 1 cup PH'd water
On day 9 plant was removed from grow tent and placed in 2x3 closet under LED lights. I am using a cheap, but seemingly effective, Wills light alongside my beloved Meizhi. Combined veg spectrum power is aprox 175 true watts.
Day 9 - 1 cup PH'd water, veg spectrum (175w)
Day 12 - 1.5 cup CalMagXtra (1/2 strength)
Day 14 - 1.5 cup Micro, Bloom (1/2 strength)
This week I added a fan to bring the temp down a bit (was exceeding 30 degrees at points), a support stick to stop the plant from leaning, and switched the lights to full spectrum (375 true watts). RH% is in the hands of the green gods.
Day 16 - switch to full spectrum (375w)
Day 17 - 2 cup PH'd water
Day 19 - 3 cup Micro, Bloom, added fan
Day 21 - 4 cup SensiCalMagXtra, added support stick
At the beginning of this week I noticed what looked an iron deficiency on the other plant I am doing. I lowered the PH to about 5.5 starting with the first watering of this week. First pre-flowers were spotted on day 27 and a feed of PK 13/14 followed the next day. Plant seems to be doing well and responding nicely to the new light.
Day 24 - 3 cup PH'd water - PH lowered to 5.5
Day 26 - 6 cup Micro, Bloom
Day 28 - 3 cup Canna PK 13/14
The flowering has begun and the plant has started her stretch. Through the week I saw sporadic wilting/clawing, so have been trying a few things out to combat possible overheating and/or overwatering. I am still figuring out best light to plant distance for the new light.
Day 31 - 6 cup PH'd water
Day 33 - 8 cup Micro, Bloom
This week I put the drooping and clawing problems down to heat and low RH%. I have noticed that she shows these signs about an hour or so before bed time and in the morning she has begun to recover, and by mid-day is fine again. So, based on that, I have slowly up'd the PH a bit to 6, and I am adjusting lights and air flow a few times a day. Measurements above are averages. Meanwhil stretch continued. Very sativa in appearance. I love how the main bush of shade leaves are at the bottom of the plant and the flower stalks shoot up above. a time-line between veg and bloom 😃
Day 36 - 3 cup Big Bud, Bud Candy
Day 38 - 4 cup PH'd water
Day 40 - 2 cup Sensizym / 2 cup CalMagXtra (2 separate mixes)
Day 42 - 4 cup Micro, Bloom
Week 7 went pretty straight forward. I added AN Nirvana to the line-up. This is my first time using it, so hoping for good results.
Day 43 - 6 cup Big Bud, Bud Candy
Day 45 - 4 cup PH'd water
Day 47 - 6 cup Nirvana
Day 49 - 6 cup Micro, Bloom
Beginning of this week I had a power failure in the room where my grow is. I had to move everything into the grow tent in another room and I could only fit the Wills LED. Thankfully on day 56 power was working again and plants were moved back to the closet with full lighting.
<power source failure-moved to tent w/Wills LED only>
Day 51 - 6 cup Big Bud, Bud Candy
Day 54 - 6 cup Nirvana
Day 56 - 6 cup PH'd water - returned to closet w/full lights
Stretch is over, half inch gain is from bud bulking. This week the trichomes showed 95% milky and 5% amber so I started the flush. Shade leaves rapidly faded to yellow while the bud leaves have become more purple - very pretty 👍. There are still a few new pistils popping up, but I want to hit a nice trichome window. She is currently doing a 48 hour darkness. The next journal entry, in a few weeks, will be harvest and smoke report 😁.
Day 57 - 5L PH'd water - flush #1
Day 61 - 9L PH'd water - flush #2
Intense sweet fruity smell in jar. Flavour is strong, fruity, sweet and sour on inhale; berries and sugar on the exhale. Effect is heady, smiley and thoughtful. There is a creative energy that is not racy or electric. After a while these effects settle into a non-lethargic mind/body relaxation. Medium-high strength and duration. A very nice strain, enjoyable during the day, but a bit too Sativa for my tastes and I find myself falling asleep later using this strain.
I am really happy with the effect and results from adding the new light. Between this run and my last diaried grows I grew a few plants without doing a diary while I got used to my new home. I grew a Smoothie using just the Meizhi light and pulled 17 grams, so to get over 28 this time round (and while growing another plant at the same time) is awesome 😀 The plant grew pretty easily and I slipped into a good feeding routine pretty quick. I did not add perlite to the medium this time and I think that I will make sure not to skip that with future grows. Once flowering starts she gets pretty stinky and very frosty. The buds are small to medium in size and medium density - actually harder than I was expecting them to be. Just like the breeder states, these buds crumble very easily by finger, becoming almost grainy. My grinder, on the other hand, got pretty gummed up by this. Note that the weight of 28.3 grams is for untrimmed buds. I smoke it all anyway, so I am not bothering to trim the buds, apart from one for a photo for the diary. I also didn't include a wet weight as I dried the buds on the full main branches, so it would have no real relevance to the final weight of buds cut off the main branches.
@MrJones, Thank you so much friend 😀 I am aiming at a harvest date around the 15th of this month. The aroma right now is amazing soft sweet fruits, almost gum-like.
