JeremyBeadle 7th grow, 2nd time growing Stress Killer, 1st time using Grow Diaries. I know some people don't like using plugs with autoflowering plants but i am currently flushing another plant so the pot is still in use. Started the seed germinating on 30/04/2020 and transferred to a coco plug on 3/05/2020. Placed the plug into my tent under a cover to maintain humidity levels.

JeremyBeadle Second week and Stress Killer is looking good. I've kept the humidity up by using an old plastic bottle that i cut the bottom from.

JeremyBeadle I have removed my home made propagator and the leaves are starting to develop nicely. Plant looks healthy so far and doesn't seem to be stressed. End of the third week and the leaf sets are starting to develop nicely and there have been no issues thus far.

JeremyBeadle Week three and Stress Killer is looking healthy and growing nicely. The temperatures were getting a little high so i have added a passive inlet tube from my window. This seems to have dropped the temperature nicely. If the hot weather continues i will start freezing a bottle and put it in the tube.

JeremyBeadle Stress Killer is growing nicely and i have started to do some LST by bending the main stem over to reduce apical dominance and to stop it getting too tall in my tent.

JeremyBeadle As we enter week 6 growth looks ok. I started LST last week. On thing i did notice on my previous grow of SK was that it did not grow very large after LST began. I meant to hold off stress training on this plant to see if that made any difference. I will have to remember to do it on the next one. Weather got a lot wetter this week so the humidity has risen considerably.

JeremyBeadle Stress Killer has definitely entered the transition stage and has had quite a growth spurt. I have continued to do a little LST but not a huge amount. It is already bigger than the last SK i grew, which is a very good sign. Two strips of the blue LED's went on my light. I contacted the supplier and they are sending out some replacement parts so i can fix it. It shouldn't be too much of an issue as they should have enough light.

JeremyBeadle Week 8 and stress killer seems to have stopped growing and settled at this height. Now the pistols are starting to develop into buds. I have started to give it some, low dosage, PK13/14 at this stage. We had a bit of a heat wave on day 53-55, the outside temperature peaked at 31˚C. The tent temp topped out at 29.7˚C.

JeremyBeadle Stress Killer is looking nice and big. It's gained a decent amount of size in the bast week and seems to be expanding outwards. The first Stress Killer grow i did topped out at around 25cm but yielded 1 ounce of super dense buds. This one is currently twice the size so i'm expecting good things.

JeremyBeadle Noticed the leaves are yellowing and some are brittle. After asking the community it seems there could be a number of issues (i didn't like to choose just one as the answer as they all seemed like good sensible advice). To start with i have not watered it for three days to let it dry out and i will reduce the nutrient levels to see how it fares. I have ordered a pH meter and a TDS meter so i will be able to monitor those metrics and hopefully get it back to being healthy and vigorous. Thank you for all of your answers to my question.

Hello all, I've noticed the leaves are starting to yellow and some are getting quite dry/brittle. Is this a sign of overwatering or perhaps nitrogen deficiency? It is on the same watering schedule as my other plant which looks healthy but obviously has different genetics.

Hey, buddy! 👋 In coco and soil-less mixes, there can't be overwatering; coco has a high salt permeability, and they just wash out with new watering, while the roots always breathe and always have enough oxygen (and you can never have too little oxygen!!). If you're watering at this age, !no more than 10%! of the substrate volume, and even every day - just like it should be! Collect your drainage; if there's a lot, measure the drainage output (if you want to understand how much she's eating) and leave it; she'll drink it in an hour. Try to pour water into your coco very carefully, without washing it away, because there can be big roots 2-3 centimeters below the surface, and the plant will be subjected to unnecessary stress. Set up a drip irrigation system based on a plastic tank, with an outlet at the bottom for a 5-8mm drip irrigation tube. Placing the tank above the pot will allow for water to flow down the irrigation tape. It's not expensive to do it yourself and will pay off in the future! The plant will thank you! 👌 It's really hard to diagnose. Your diary doesn't have information on what your ppm solution is, what the pH of the solution is, or what the drainage output is after watering (water 10% of the substrate volume at the age your girl is!). It's clear you're feeding her well; she definitely wouldn't need an increase in nutrient dosage! 👆 Most likely, the problem is pH! At this age, she should have 5.8 pH in coco and its mixes (without soil). You have a good lamp, but it might be too close to the plant; check the lighting at the extreme growth points of the plant and on its sides! Bridgelux/Epileds LED with good potential... I would even say that Bridgelux is just what you need! Epileds - the kingbo manufacturer decided to save a bit. 😉 You can measure the illumination (lux) in the cultivation area above the plant! Install a free app from the market called "luxmeter" on your smartphone, clean your phone screen well, removing grease and dirt. The light sensor is located on the screen part, which often rivals individual lux meters. Check the illumination above the plant. Adjust the lamp height so that it doesn't heat the plant to shock states but stays within the lux range. Install the app; you'll remember me more than once, buddy! It'll be like a compass for your lighting! 👌 Effective illumination ranges, starting from planting the plant: Day 1 (250-500 lux) Day 2 (500-1000 lux) Day 3 (1000-2000 lux) After five pairs of leaves, full vegetation (2000-20000 lux) Flowering (20000-100000 lux). Try not to exceed 99000 lux. Otherwise - there could be problems! 👆 And I looked through all your weeks. In your week 8 growth photo 56-1, there's a high nitrogen toxicity observed! After that, your plane went into a tailspin! Watch what's happening with your girl! It's all likely due to high pH! Many growers here, as I've noticed, love high pH and planes in tailspins! I would recommend reducing your additives by 30%. If there’s very little calcium and magnesium in the additives, then add cal/mag 1 ml/l (for osmosis), 0.5 ml/l (for tap water). 👆 pH 5.8 Good luck, buddy! ✊😇

JeremyBeadle After the issues i have been having with the yellowing leaves i bought a pH meter and i am now measuring the pH of the solution i feed to the plants. If it is high i and some 100mM citric acid to bring it down to just below 6. I trimmed the majority of the dead/dying leaves off and the buds still look good.

JeremyBeadle Stress killer looks a lot happier now that i have been Ph ing my solution before adding it. I have also been using citric acid to bring the pH down to ~6 and i've been letting the coco dry out a bit more between waterings.

JeremyBeadle SK buds are very dense. I'm quite happy with how it is going, even after the slight hiccup earlier on with the watering and the pH. Still a lot of white pistols on the plant so i think it will be another couple of weeks yet before it's ready.

JeremyBeadle I attempted to take some trichome pictures by holding my jewellers loupe over my phone camera. The end result is not terrible but also not super clear. From what i can see myself there are very few amber trichomes. I'm going to try and wait until there are a few more before starting the flush. If anyone has any tips on harvest timing just leave a comment. Deciding when to flush and chop is one of the most difficult bits for me. Flushing started on day 95. Just using a small amount of Cannazym and some water.

JeremyBeadle We had a heat wave over the past week and the temperature in the tent topped out at 32˚C. The image above shows what looks like some foxtailing, perhaps due to heat stress (Day 99 - 4). I started flushing SK on day 94 and i will harvest on day 100. The trichomes are milky and amber and i'm concerned about the foxtailing. Plus it's a good size😀

This was the second time growing Stress Killer and i had 100g wet and 24g dry so this plant was substantially larger. Generally pretty easy to grow. The only hiccup i had was due to my errors rather than the plant. It will be a few weeks before i can test this batch but i always found Stress Killer to be a pleasurable smoke. The high was never too intense like some of the super high THC strains as the CBD balances it out nicely. I have 1 Stress Killer seed left then i think i will have a crack at another ~1:1 THC:CBD strain.

JeremyBeadle I am very happy with the outcome of this grow. I was not expecting to get 2 oz after the stress it seemed to be under earlier in the grow. All round pleasurable grow that has produced some seriously fat, dense buds. I look forward to seeing it dried and cured.

@Garreweedlover, Thank you for your comment, do you mean air humidity or the amount of water i am giving them?
Garreweedlover
Garreweedlover commented6y ago
@JeremyBeadle, the humidity in the air during the vegetative stage should be around 60%. How much water do you apply and how often do you feed?
