NancyB This my first grow. 3 seeds (of 5 from Sensi seeds) sown today in tiny pots (plastic goblets) in an electric propagator in generic seed compost. I've since read that it's better to go straight into the final pot size, but we'll see. Assuming at least one germinates, they'll go into a Cultibox Light 60cm x 60 cm x 140 cm (2'x2'x2.5'). The light is a Roleadro (ex Galaxy) 300W (100 x 3W) (135W real) cheapo LED from Amazon. Update 14 January: They went in on 9 January (day 0). Today (day 5) all have germinated and are about 1cm. They have gone into the grow tent, still in the propagator with the vents half open with the light at about 20cm and a basic electric radiator to take the chill off. I'm still fiddling with the thermostat to get the ambient temperature about right. No fan as yet, but I know I need to get one.

NancyB So day 14 from seed in soil. My young ladies need to go to the big school. Square pots with Plagron Allmix from my super-sympa local grow shop. No feeding yet - let's see how the compost does. We saw the sun today so I repotted outside. Quite pleased that there is more root growth below ground than top growth above. It's a bit cramped in the grow tent as you can see.

NancyB Day 20 from seed. First water in bigger pots. No nutrients - relying on Plagron Allmix for now. Started a little LST - I know it's a bit early.

NancyB I realised the fan has been off for about a week. They didn't need water - I assume because less evaporation. Still no nutrients. A bit more LST and tucking big leaves out of the way. A few side shoots coming through. I broke a stem a few days ago (top plant). Fixed with duct tape and seems OK.

NancyB Well spreading out nicely, got a few extra flower sites. Started feeding GO and Biobizz. Watering much more frequently. No more LST now, just pinching out shading leaves. Air extraction/Filtration to go in soon.

NancyB Day 45 from seed in ground so more like 7 weeks really. One plant is quite a bit taller than the rest so the canopy is not as even as I would like, but I've stopped fiddling with training except for removing shade leaves. The plant at the back has 8 flower-bearing shoots, with buds on each They are taking about two litres of water each every other day. Extraction vent installed - it is (intentionally) way oversized but I plan to expand. Temps a bit low, especially at night. It's a balancing act with the extraction fan speed, the internal fan, the passive intake vent opening, and the thermostat on the rad. Looking very crowded in there. Some more aggressive defoliation planned in the next week or so - the lower leaves are not getting much light.

NancyB Day 52 from seed. Outdoor temps went from -1C to about 16C overnight, so they had a spell in the sunlight for a photoshoot :) Giving them 2l of tap water with Biobizz Topmax and GO Thrive Bloom every other day. One plant is still in advance of the others, but they have almost caught up height wise. Pretty happy with them overall. The biggest problem is lack of space in the tent constraining lateral growth. I'm guessing 5 weeks until harvest - any thoughts?

NancyB Day 61 from seed in ground. I'm having a hard time balancing heat sources (light, rad) and cooling (extractor, passive intake). Ambient temperature is very varied at the moment: 8C/46F overnight and 20C/58F in the day. However the plants look quite happy to my inexperienced eye, apart from a bit of scorching from the rad. The plant on the right is a bit pale maybe, so I'll add some grow nutes next time.

NancyB Outdoor photo shoot today. Day 79 from seed in ground. Plants are doing OK but obviously suffering from being cramped in a 60x60 (2') tent. If they had had room to spread they would be beautiful plants. Headroom is tight as well so there's some lamp burn, and also some browning from the radiator that one plant is right next to. Temperature control has also been a problem. The poor plants have been at 30C one day and 9C the next (heater tripped). However there are buds that look a reasonable size and plenty of trichomes - no amber so far. Pistils are about 80% orange. I've stopped feeding - just Topmax for bud flavour now. About another week? Edited to add a couple of pics of buds (under leds).

Very hardy plant. Mostly shrugged off environmental problems. More to follow when cured. The smell is sweet lemon with pine and a touch of herby sage. Like a room-temperature limoncello with a dash of retsina and a couple of fresh sage leaves floating in it.

NancyB Chopped day 91 - about 5-10% amber trichomes. I left some small immature buds on the plant to grow on for while more. Further update once cured and sampled properly. Lots of lessons learnt: o Temperature control needs a lot more work o One plant would have been plenty in that space

Good to know - I'll just be really gentle when repotting (best practice anyway). Yes - all indoors this time at least. If they get to flowering at 8 weeks - about 6 March - it will still be a bit chilly outdoors. I'm in the South of France. The plan is to start up the remaining two seeds in a few weeks, and they can go out in the sun :) I've got 10 Afghan Kush regular and 3 Purple Haze waiting in the wings too. I plan to get another grow tent, or perhaps build a loft room so I can have grows at different stages. Thanks for the comment!

Much better to sow small IMO. You doing the whole run indoor?

Thanks! You're right about the watering - they're getting about a litre a day but I'm waiting until the pots feel lighter.

LST on a Autoflowering for a first grow ? It’s tough 💪
JUNGLE_B4RNS
JUNGLE_B4RNScommented7y ago
@NancyB, I agree your water might be a lil bit too cold, but don’t exceed 21°C are you might get all types of fungus, 16-18°C is the perfect range. In soil you can start nutrients 2-3 weeks after transplanting.

NancyBcommented7y ago
@JUNGLE_B4RNS, Yeah - I should perhaps have just left well alone. Cocked up on the first watering too and used water at ambient rather than tent (8C/46F vs 25C/77F), and I could tell that growth was checked. Any thoughts about when to start with nutes?

best wishes man, most of the beginner have not courage to do training on their plants.. ✌️🏼

NancyBcommented7y ago
@420_liquidsun, Thanks. Although I've never grown this plant before (apart from a couple in the garden last summer that a house-sitter destroyed at about 2 weeks), I've done some gardening - so pruning roses, pinching out flowering plants, etc

great LST for a first grow, great everything! liked and followed! in my experience for next time if you plan on doing this kind of 90-degree main stalk training: A) plant offset on the other side of the container and water the opposite side to get the roots to grow across the pot B) ponytail them with pipe cleaners when the main cola starts to get too tall or off the pot and in the way C) cut off all the nodes that are growing on the underside of all the branches, they will become suckers really bad. tbh the ones growing directly up on the branches will be suckers too but ymmv on cutting them. D) defoliate like hell cause it's going to get bushy and you want that even development instead of the taller colas shading the smaller one you should end up with limited losses to larf and suckers
NancyB
NancyBcommented7y ago
@Jaindoh, Thanks - that all sounds like good advice. A) Yes I wish I had done this, but decided on the method after transplanting. Next time... B) Great idea. C) I didn't know about the sucker thing - will keep an eye on it. D) Yes - already the leaves on one plant are like massive parasols. Cheers

Amazing strain, i'm growing White Diesel Haze from the same breeder! They have really good genetics. Best wishes, following.

Flower hype! They may need you to do some post-flower LST if they try to close up a bit and crowd, to get the best yield, but your training is really good for where you're at. Make sure to be careful with frequent watering as well, especially in soil. They'll need it more often, which makes riding the line between too little and too much a bit harder. Remember the knuckle; I have had problems with overwatering on accident cause I was working on autopilot myself recently -- and in coir, which is harder to do -_-; You're on track for greatness here!

Yes I've been impressed by the plants - 100% germination, and they are basically growing themselves in spite of my mistakes and neglect. Looks like our plants are about the same age! Week 12 update on the way.
the end.
